Anyone else waiting for labour?!

Hello
I'm 39+4 with first baby and am poised waiting for labour to kick in any time this week or next week. Just wondered if anyone else was foot taping waiting for their bundle of joy to fill the crib?!! Confused
Also any thoughts on whether swimming still ok?! Am trying to keep busy but would hate for waters to break in a public pool Shock

I literally feel like I could explode!

I'm 38+2 and have been getting strong BH since about 36 wks, which often keep me awake at night. I was convinced it was a sign I would be in labour soon and enthusiastically started going through all the old wifes tales to get labour going, as soon as I hit 37 wks. Unfortunately nothing made any difference. I have tried everything now (except a sweep which midwife won't do until 40 wks), so resigned myself to just having to be patient and wait.

Congrats Anathena and not long now everyone else.

Argh. The Texts. You'd think my friend whose own DD was born @ 41+6 WOULD NOT BE THE ONE TEXTING ME SEVERAL TIMES A DAY ASKING IF I AM LABOUR YET BECAUSE SHE 'HAD A FEELING'. (Apologies for shouting.)

40+1 and restless

Stupid pregnant brain - that should've been 39+1 (& wishful thinking!)

My MW won't do a sweep until post-40, either NARS. If BHs are meant to be 'practice contractions' then this is one well-rehearsed birth!

40+4 here, feeling huge and grumpy. Had a sweep at 40 wks but mw said the babies head was really low but I had a very posterior cervix. I'm still doing loads of walking and bouncing but think it might all be a bit pointless if babies head isn't bouncing on the cervix.

Keep telling myself that in France I wouldn't even be at my due date yet!

40+6 aaaaa. What's a posterior cervix? I'm doing all fours today in case that helps. It's not very comfortable. I give it another 2 minutes. No sweep till 40+10.

When do they set the due date as in France Freerange?

Report
emsyj · 03/02/2013 13:16

Due date today! Hmm, I am wondering if my waters are trickling. Last time they went in a big gush, but the last couple of days I've had a lot of watery discharge and then last night I got up and had a big trickly gushy thing that I had to mop up. It carried on whilst I was lying down but now I'm up it seems to have stopped. It's definitely not wee, it smells of nothing. Hmmm. Am not getting my hopes up just yet tho. Will call the midwife if it happens again.

Nar - in France they give you your due date as 41 wks.

Apparently posterior cervix just means its pointing towards my back and the babies head is lower than it. After mucho googling I found its quite normal and the cervix moves. Hasn't stopped me worrying about it tho!

Emsy...sounds like your waters. I think you should let midwife know. Reason is they might want to confirm as if carries on without delivering baby after certain time is risk of infection. You can go home again usually after checked to wait for labour there. Good luck baby soon!

I just don't have much faith in them mmmmsleep - last time they told me (wrongly) that my waters hadn't gone, so feels a bit pointless to get in touch with them - but I will call my own midwife a bit later on. Just having a cup of tea and a chocolate bar to try and encourage baby to move for a bit of reassurance, as movements have been less than usual this morning (although to be fair I have been napping pretty much the whole time...)

Sorry just reread that...apologies for the lack of proper sentences!

Sorry emsy. It's so difficult when you've had bad experience in past. Hope baby gets wriggling for you in next half hour. I think you're sensible to plan to get checked if not. Good luck.

How's everyone doing today? If it makes anyone feel better, I've had 5 hours sleep since Friday. I had afterpains keeping me up most of the night on Friday, then DS2 was feeding constantly from 9.30pm last night until 2.30am this morning. Then DD decided to start the day at 5.30am.

Make the most of these last few days, and I hope you're all joining me in a sleepless daze very soon.

I'm having contractions every 7 mins that last 40-60 secs. Just waiting for them to get a bit closer together before calling the hospital!

Hello ladies, can I join you please?
Am due tomorrow, was woken at 8am by my waters breaking in a massive gushy flood! Went in to get checked, sent home to wait, leaking and sporadic tightening but nothing major. Bored now!

moo it sounds like you will be meeting your baby soon!

Oh how exciting with waters breaking!!

I'm due today! Had some very mild period cramps but nothing now. Had terrible nights sleep feeling sickly, any chance this is a sign of my body gearing up?!! Been very lazy today, snoozing and bouncing on ball. Had appointment with the midwife on Tuesday and she will offer a sweep but I was planning to let nature take it's course for another week at least. Have pad in ready in case waters break.

Best of luck to all!!! Will keep looking for updates!

Hello can I join, 40+2 today. Nothing so far but I'm ready to go now and feeling impatient.
Getting fed up of the texts and asking if any sign yet. Never gone into labour on my own as yet and this is 3DC.
Not sure what to look out for. Having lots of Braxton hicks, quite strong ones but have been having mild ones since week 16.....I'm taking this as a sign.
DH just gone for a Indian takeaway so we will see Smile

I'm only 37 weeks but strong painful braxton hicks for last few weeks and hoping things get a move on. Went into labour in 38th wk last time so hoping i go early this time too...starting to get very swollen and under v close watch for preeclampsia again so would suit nicely if baby appears before that truly kicks off. Human pregnancy is just too long...although i truly feel for poor elephants!
