Anyone else waiting for labour?!

Hello
I'm 39+4 with first baby and am poised waiting for labour to kick in any time this week or next week. Just wondered if anyone else was foot taping waiting for their bundle of joy to fill the crib?!! Confused
Also any thoughts on whether swimming still ok?! Am trying to keep busy but would hate for waters to break in a public pool Shock

So I have had mild contractions every 20ish mins for the last hour could this be it?!

Report
PickledInAPearTree · 08/02/2013 17:43

Yes could be! Have you got a timer? I think that you go in when they are 5ish mins apart but dont muck about on your 2nd. They can come quickly!

Fingers crossed for you.

I feel like I could just about explode, but I dont think its labour related!

They are pretty regular but mild and only lasting 30 seconds ish. My first labour was stupidly quick but as I was induced I don't know if it's an indication of how this one will go? Oh well I'm only 5 mins from the hospital so ill be fine. Got to bath a 3 year old in the mean time!!

Evening everyone. bangers all sounds promising for you! FX those contractions soon start coming a bit more often. Sometimes it can take a day or two for them to really get going into 'proper' labour.

Congratulations to MooChicken - great news!

Cupcake hope you're feeling a bit chirpier today. All this waiting can really get you down.

I have now had 5 sweeps in the past couple of weeks and am a bit disillusioned about their effectiveness!

I am feeling mild contractions and crampy, but as this is DC4, it is like NAR says, and I know not to get too hopeful until they are really painful!

ps pickled how is Barry today? Hope he's retreated a bit.

PickledInAPearTree · 08/02/2013 18:52

That's how I started. Period type pains & cramps which increased on hurtiness throughout the day. I'm hopeful for you bangers!

LLL he is still there sadly. Bloody menace! Not too painful but huge!

Your fourth! It will be like shelling peas for you.

Pickled I have a few of Barry's mates having a party here too Hmm Doc says I will need surgery which they can't do till after I deliver which is why I've managed to convince my consultant to do an early sweep.

PickledInAPearTree · 08/02/2013 18:59

Surgery oh my are they bad then? Poor you!

Report
bangersmashandbeans · 08/02/2013 19:02

They are thrombosed so essentially have clotted. Pretty horrendous to be honest!

PickledInAPearTree · 08/02/2013 19:08

Oh my good god. You poor thing!

Report
LimeLeafLizard · 08/02/2013 22:01

oh poor you, bangers - the things women have to go through to bring babies into the world! Though surgery might be a pain, at least they'll all be completely cleared up rather than waiting for them to go down of their own accord. I've been lucky they've never bothered me apart from a week or two after my first baby.

pickled I only wish you were right about the shelling peas thing! Instead here I am at 40 weeks with not a glimmer of a baby and all my labours have been stupidly long. Friend of a friend just delivered her DC1 a week early and labour only lasted 2.5 hours. I am Envy.

I've been meaning to update too as I was on this thread on Sunday...

Dd arrived Monday afternoon via emcs after 13 hours of contractions and drip left me only 1cm and not progressing. But we're home now and dd is just perfect!

Congratulations to all the new mummies and good luck to those of you still waiting!

Congrats ladymary! My contractions are now averaging 7 mins apart and lasting 50-60 seconds so think ill give the hospital a call in a bit (and probably be told to bugger off!!)

Congratulations ladymary! Smile
Bangers I winced when I read about your thrombosis and I was feeling sorry for myself every time I reached for the Germaloid tube Shock as if pregnancy and birth isn't
painful enough.
Lizard-anymore signs?
I've had quite a few mild tightens since early hours and woke feeling nauseous and shaky and then felt the need to rush to the loo for the other end
Still in bed on my 2nd brew, don't want to move in case they stop.

Congratulations Lady.

Bangers its all sounding very promising.

Limeleaf I sympathise completely. The midwifes were convinced (despite my history) that my fourth baby would practically fall out. She took 38.5 hours with the drip on full, to keep my contractions going. They had laughably even talked me through what to do if I suddenly gave birth at home on my own because I hadn't had enough time to get to hospital. Chance would of been a fine thing! Hoping my body has finally got the hang of it this time and it will be easy peasy.

Hopefully bangers has had the baby FX.

Any more for any more?

Nothing happening here. It would be very convenient today too as MIL is here and could mind DS so you can bet it won't happen today.

Hi everyone, I had a beautiful baby boy in the early hours of this morning. Pretty straightforward labour and birth and we are home already! Feeling battered and bruised and very tearful but delighted our bundle of joy is finally here safe and sound.
