Following on from the Amanda Holden thread.

Some of you will have had baby, some having baby and others waiting. But on your actual due date what did you do?

I am in the latter group - still waiting, as DD wasn't born until 12 days later.

On my actual due date I was feeling pretty fed up if I am honet. Had planned on staying in. But got bored so DH and me went over to the next town where parents live. There was a big family meal at a local cavery type place so we joined in there. Stayed out latish and - gulp - yes, I had a small glass of wine I think. I loved the reaction I got when people asked me when I was due

For my due date with ds he was in hospital haveing a hernia op! he was born six weeks early

tarantula · 24/02/2006 08:43

On my due date I was.............. giving birth . She def doesnt take after her granny. Waters broke at 12.30 am, dd came out at 8.30 pm. Talk about accurate timing.

Apparently it doesnt happen very often.

veuveclicquot · 24/02/2006 08:46

Sulk.

DD was induced 10 days later - (induction, forceps, ventouse - she really didn't want to come out!!).

10 days is a looooong time after 40 weeks.

spursmum · 24/02/2006 08:47

Was so fed up about the size of me etc so went shopping. I scared the bejesus out of everyone who asked when I was due. Made my day!!

2Happy · 24/02/2006 08:49

I went to a wedding with dh and we stripped the willow madly to try and get ds to hurry up. Should've seen the looks of the guests seeing v heavily pregnant me whirling around the dance floor . Didn't blooming work though, and ds was born 14 - yes fourteen - days later. Grrr.

BettySpaghetti · 24/02/2006 08:55

With both my two I was at home with baby in my arms as DD was 2.5 wks early and DS was 1 week early.

I really feel for you ladies who go 2 weeks over -I can't imagine what it would have been like to have been pregnant for an extra month with DD !!

chapsmum · 24/02/2006 08:58

I ate a curry followed by fresh pinapple, (grudgingly) had sex then drank som rasberry leaf tea and bounced on my birthing ball.

The chap was born 14 days later after a four day induction 21 hour labour and a ventouse!!!!

crazydazy · 24/02/2006 09:00

Was at home with baby - DD 5 weeks early, DS 2 weeks early.

suzywong · 24/02/2006 09:01

First time-went to a family barbeque.

Second time-went to town to get yet more just in case bits-no one was happy about it but my reasoning was i would be nearer the hospital that way.

In each even went 12 days over ended up being induced both times!

BagelBird · 24/02/2006 09:06

DD1 - Gave birth and then slept for 14 hours they had to wake me up to feed the baby (just tiredness not drug induced)

DD2 - sulked, went for lunch, paced a lot, sulked some more. Two weeks late in the end

biglips · 24/02/2006 09:09

on my due date - i went shopping with mum to town shopping.... people were asking me when i was due and i said "Today", they nearly ran a mile!!!.......

DD was induced at 12 days late

Frizbetheexpansionset · 24/02/2006 09:15

Went shopping, twiddled my thumbs, seethed at a text from a friend who was 3 weeks early and asking which ward she should look for me on, as she couldn't seem to find me! (cause I was still at home with a huge belly!!)

Hulababy · 24/02/2006 09:16

Glad to hear lots of others doing the sulking and being fed up because baby hadn't come! DD was an idle on too - induction on day 10, born 50 hours later by c seection.

In hospital(just admited with pre eclampsia), waters broke, started in slow labour. Which then stopped and then started again. Dd born 48 hours later by emergency section.

Nvere got to due date with ds....section for a footling breach, two weeks early he weighed in at a whopping 9 2

TuttiFrutti · 24/02/2006 09:19

Stayed at home waiting for labour pains to begin. Convinced I shouldn't go out on my own in case it started and I couldn't get to the hospital on time.

What was I thinking???! I was still sitting at home 11 days later, before being induced.

lucykate · 24/02/2006 09:22

both of mine were 5 days early, so i've had 2 pregnancies of exactly the same length. and with both, went into labour in the evening, gave birth in the morning.

Miaou · 24/02/2006 09:24

On ds's due date we met up with dh's brother and his wife and their four barmy kids - my parents were there too and by the time the cousins left they were slightly shell-shocked (the cousins are not terribly well-behaved and are VERY hard work!). I went into labour the same night and ds was born at 2.15am the next morning.

Dd1 was about 5 days early IIRC - so I daresay I was out pushing the pram somewhere!

Dd2 was 10 days late - don't remember what I did on the day, but after dd1 being early I think I was slightly surprised to be still at home...

Mazzystar · 24/02/2006 09:30

Breastfed

fisil · 24/02/2006 09:34

ds1: went to a New Year's Eve party and jumped up and down vigourously. Made no difference, he stayed put for another 2 weeks.

ds2: walked up and down Wimbledon Hill very very fast. Again, another 2 weeks to wait!

Hayls · 24/02/2006 09:38

Was in labour and gave birth 25 mins after due date

Hazellnut · 24/02/2006 09:48

I was looking after a 3 week old !!

eidsvold · 24/02/2006 10:04

for dd1 - visiting her in SCBU high dependancy ward

dd2 -at a Melbourne Cup pampering luncheon. Melbourne cup is a horse race that stops a nation - kinda like the grand national I guess but not the same style of race iyswim. Having wonderful food and neack, back and foot massage.....

hockeymum · 24/02/2006 10:06

sulked, sulked and sulked some more because the indiction a week earlier hadn't worked. I think I just watched tv, ate chocolate and cried (not very productive obviously) and that was pretty much the pattern for the next 3 weeks as dd was 20 days late!!! the little madam! (worth waiting for though obviously)
