Following on from the Amanda Holden thread.

Some of you will have had baby, some having baby and others waiting. But on your actual due date what did you do?

I am in the latter group - still waiting, as DD wasn't born until 12 days later.

On my actual due date I was feeling pretty fed up if I am honet. Had planned on staying in. But got bored so DH and me went over to the next town where parents live. There was a big family meal at a local cavery type place so we joined in there. Stayed out latish and - gulp - yes, I had a small glass of wine I think. I loved the reaction I got when people asked me when I was due

only reached due date with one of mine (and she was born that day!!).the other four were all early!

popsycalindisguise · 24/02/2006 19:07

did not reach due date with either of mine

picnikel · 24/02/2006 19:10

Climbed up Arthur's Seat. Well, waddled up, panting. Got some funny looks!

Took raspberry leaf tea. Had a curry.

Didn't sulk because nobody in my family has ever given birth on time, we all go overdue (see 2Happy's post as she's my sister!) so I knew I was in for the long haul. Dd hoved into view a week later!

lanismum · 24/02/2006 19:53

i had an antenatal appointment at the hospital, bp was too high and i was admitted and induced.

Libra · 24/02/2006 19:59

Gave birth to both of mine on their due dates - obsessed with deadlines!

picnikel · 24/02/2006 20:32

God, just realised it was a year ago today - what a timely thread !

tegan · 24/02/2006 20:44

I had dd1 the day before her due date.
With dd2 I had a show at 10.30am and gave birth at 9.38pm on her due date, very punctual my girls.

expatinscotland · 24/02/2006 20:44

Cuddled my babies . DD1 was born at 38 weeks + 3 days and DD2 at 38 weeks + 6 days.

Mum2OneAndOneMore · 24/02/2006 20:50

Hmmm on my due date with Ds i was feeling very tired, fed up & fat & he was still another 10 days after his due date!

With DD i was talking on Mn, do normal day to day things, went had midwife appointment, went to hospital to be checked (as had high bp & protein in urine) went into labour whilst in hospital.
so i was in labour on due date but dd was born at 5.14am the next morning!

Quite glad though as my father passed away on the day Dd was due so it worked out ok in the end

RedRidingHood · 24/02/2006 20:50

weeded the garden on hands and knees- and nothing bleedin well happened!!

Bozza · 24/02/2006 20:57

On due date with DS went for a long walk to a local pine shop and shuffled around inside because it's one of those really cluttered place and there were several gaps I struggled to get my bump through. And yes I did get asked when I was due....

On my due date with DD I took DS and 1 day old DD to a neighbour's 1 yo's birthday party, after coming on Mumsnet to post a long birth story. That's a long story not a long birth. You may have gathered that DD was one day early.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 24/02/2006 21:01

I can't remember. With DS1 I was probably breastfeeding him, that's all we ever did 24/7 he was attached to my boob.

DS2 I spent at home, 'attempting' to breastfeed but not getting very far.

cutekids · 24/02/2006 21:03

dd1:went in ; followed everything midwives said and realized they haven't got a clue
ds1:realized i was having contractions - and was supposed to have a c.section - but refused to go into hospital as needed to buy a 1st birthday cake for my daughter!!! (he was born 6 hrs before her first birthday!). dd2:was born on 2nd may and i had to celebrate dd1's and ds1's birthday in hospital just after she was born!!!
hence: may 2nd,may 5th,may 6th are all my kids' birthdays!!!!!

Mercy · 24/02/2006 21:14

dd was already born - 3 days early. We were hanging around in hospital waiting to be discharged (she had bad jaundice)

ds - was in labour on his due date!

lucy5 · 24/02/2006 21:21

I celebrated Christmas day with my family and a 12 day old dd. Spent most of the day sobbing along to David Bowie's Couple of Kooks, a song to his newborn son!

hester · 24/02/2006 21:41

I was in labour - started at 1.30am on my due date, which made me feel very clever at the time (I even posted on Mumsnet, just to show off). It was the last clever thing I did, though - finally gave birth the next day, with emergency CS after everything went pear-shaped...

cece · 24/02/2006 21:45

dd - went shopping in Kingston

ds - can't remember.

lunavix · 24/02/2006 21:50

was in hopsital having had him the day before.

Was pretty peeved, they kept taking him to SCBU for blood tests which apparently I wasn't allowed to witness. Stropped sulked and cried as he was MY property now.

madmarchhare · 24/02/2006 22:00

Cant remember, but a week after I was out shopping scaring all the old dears to death.

sweetkitty · 24/02/2006 22:09

DD1 - had her she was 15 days early (so of course I expected to be early next time)

DD2 - went shopping, moaned on mumsnet, had sex, little blighter of course was 12 days overdue.

Being overdue sucks but it's fun when people say "when are you due dear" and your like "last Saturday!" and they think you are going to drop the baby there and then. I remember waking up every morning and crying cos I hadn't gone into labour in the night. Horrible horrible horrible.

lilstarry1 · 25/02/2006 09:01

On my due date our new sofas arrived (2 weeks late), I visited the midwife (walked all the way there and back)... I had a take away curry (not to induce labour but to fulfil a craving), and then I lugged our old sofa around... Probably not the most sensible thing to do but twas rather amusing!

DD was born 4 days later, after not being in position and everyone telling me I was going to need to be induced

fruitful · 25/02/2006 13:54

dd - hobbling around the park at the Queen's Jubilee celebrations; I'd had dd by cs 10 days earlier

ds - sat and looked at my 6-week-old and thought "wow, I could have been pg still!" - and then ate some chocolate egg and went to church (was Easter Sunday).

Shopping both times.

meggmoo · 25/02/2006 14:08

Went to Ikea to pick up the last of the stuff for the nursery. Nobody woud help me so I managed to get an arm chair into the back of my car - alone.

I thought if that doesn't get me started nothing will.

Had him exactly 14 days later
