Following on from the Amanda Holden thread.

Some of you will have had baby, some having baby and others waiting. But on your actual due date what did you do?

I am in the latter group - still waiting, as DD wasn't born until 12 days later.

On my actual due date I was feeling pretty fed up if I am honet. Had planned on staying in. But got bored so DH and me went over to the next town where parents live. There was a big family meal at a local cavery type place so we joined in there. Stayed out latish and - gulp - yes, I had a small glass of wine I think. I loved the reaction I got when people asked me when I was due

Freaked the assistant at the local afre who asked when I was due, I said 'today and it's number three so it'll come fast'...

she looked very concerned and lept watching me like a hawk!

ds1 and ds2 were early. So breastfed and tidied I expect!

petunia · 25/02/2006 14:52

DD1- moved house.
DD2- looked after DH who had gone down with Chicken Pox 2 days before (caught from DD1 who went down with it on Christmas Day, 3 weeks before).

Luckily both DDs were a week late. Just wondering what's going to happen with baby no.3 at the end of April!

charliecat · 25/02/2006 15:03

With dd1 I was playing pool in a pub, with dd2 I would have been sat at home looking after dd1 I should imagine, cant rememeber.

Think I probably spent the day on the sofa, next to an electric fan, watching old movies and eating soleros. Haaaaaah, happy days...

Arabica · 25/02/2006 16:12

Was convinced DS was going to be late, so hadn't arranged to start maternity leave from my once-a-week writing job until the following Sunday. Uploaded everything at 11pm then sat on bed to read a crime novel about a murder on a ship. Waters broke. Had DS 36hrs later after emergency c/s. Still haven't found out whodunnit.

Littlefish · 25/02/2006 16:54

I was in labour (had been for 2 days), but dd still wasn't born until 2 days after her due date.

JonesTheSteam · 25/02/2006 17:26

DD - gave birth to her.

DS - Would have taken DD to playgroup in the morning. Possibly had an appointment with the midwife in the afternoon, but nothing was happening. (That might have been the day before, though.) Also looking after DH who was very ill with tonsilitis.

DS arrived two days later.

I had my chimney re-pointed! You should have seen the look on the roofer's face when I told him - mind you, I've never seen a builder move sooo fast, he didn't even stop for a cup of tea.
DS was a week late in the end.

intergalacticwalrus · 25/02/2006 18:01

sat at home in my dressing gown feeling like a whale, and in the evening, DP and I went to the pub for a meal.

DS was 2 weeks late. I hated every last minute of it!!!!!! What I hated most was the constant "have you had it yet" phone calls.

CaptainDippy · 25/02/2006 18:31

DD1: Went out for a meal - As I entered the restaurant I was quickly surrounded by a bunch of very excited waitresses all staring at my big bump and cooing.

Crowd quickly disappeared when I announced "Today!" in response to their question - ARGH, not in MY restaurant!!!"

DD2: Had a little tea and cake shin-dig in our back garden so people could come round and meet the baby who had already been born!! (She was 3 and 1/2 weeks early, bless!) It was very nice, if a little surreal!!

geogteach · 25/02/2006 19:13

Went shopping in town, lost my ticket for the car park, the 18 year old security gaurd I had to call looked absolutely petrified and let me out for free - DS1 wasn't born till 12 days later.

Surfermum · 25/02/2006 19:24

I went to the beach for lifeguard training. They were all egging surferbaby on to arrive, as they thought it would be cool for me to give birth in our unit's first aid room with them assisting. She was 10 days late though.

kid · 25/02/2006 19:26

I have no idea TBH. With DD I was still in hospital after having a C-section 2 days earlier.

With DS, I know I was home from hospital but I can't remember anymore than that

bumbleweed · 25/02/2006 19:40

answered about a dozen phone calls and texts with the phrase ".....no nothing's happening just yet.... but I'll let you know when it does"

then met dh in the noodle bar for lunch

Shakey64 · 25/02/2006 20:01

In labour with ds Am so glad didn't have to put up with the frustration of going overdue and felt quite smug at the time. Mind you, I had been given a bit of help... He arrived just after 9 on a Monday morning - impressive timekeeping or what?

Jaysfirst · 25/02/2006 20:04

My due date was New years eve. I went to a restaurant for a hot Curry to ty and get me going. The waiters and manager were on tender hooks all the time i was there. Oh and i got fee desert!!!! DD was born three days later.

Filyjonk · 25/02/2006 20:05

with dd (baby no2), giving birth...very...slowly...(took 2 f'ing days!)

with ds (baby 1) having emergency dental surgery. the receptionist asked when i was due. oh how i laughed.

MuminBrum · 25/02/2006 20:13

I was in labour - had been for two days - DS was born five days after due date. Yes, I was in labour for a week (minus three hours).

dd was 2 weeks old on my due date so I guess
I fed her, changed her, every 3 hrs pretty much
With ds I was watching one day cricket, laying on my futon, with a water spray as it was the hottest NZ summer for years and even walking to the kitchen made me overheat and feel faint
So I laid and sprayed!
Ds arrived 2 weeks later!

eve2005 · 25/02/2006 21:51

had dd four days early thank god as i wasn't a happy lady while pregnant and had been praying for an early delivery for the previous month. think i willed her out in the end as the labour was so long it didn't feel like she really wanted to come. would probably have scoured holes in the floors and spent a small fortune on baby clothes if i'd been left to stew any longer.

pregnant again so hoping to god this one doesn't leave me waiting.

Elf1981 · 25/02/2006 22:07

I went into my work place to show off my DD! She was born six days early albiet via c-section as she was upside down and back to front
