I had my ds a week ago, vaginal birth all fine. Got straight on the lactulose and did a poo on day 5 easy!

Now day 7 and I can't go - have just spent an hour crying in the bathroom as there is a turd the size of a house brick up there. I had a look with a mirror - its there, it's as big as my baby and it won't come out.

Seriously wtf do I do apart from cry in a darkened room?! I have already taken the max dose of lactulose today so not sure I can take any more? Drinking lots, eating lots of fibre. Argh.

Help me please!

My husb says his mum always used the sliver of soap cure and it worked magic.

Sorry you are going through this, hope you have a named picked out in time for the "delivery"!

The bulge sounds like something you need to get checked out. I also had trouble with my first poo and as i result i tore my stitches getting it out. It was sooo painful but six months in I am all healed and poo normally, so don't worry too much!

This has brought back memories of the anal tear I had after dd, she's only 6 months I must have buried the memory already! Crying on the toilet waiting to poo out pieces of glass (it felt like). One night being so scared to poo I decided I was just going to stop eating, possibly eat only fruit, just so I wouldn't have to poo again. Nobody talks about this do they?

I had forceps delivery and an episiotomy but the anal tear was worse.

I'm sorry you are having difficulties op. It's not fair when you should be just enjoying your new baby. Hope things are getting sorted. It took me a few months to get back to 'normal' but it did happen, I'm sure it will for you, too.

My tip is (having been brought to tears by this myself more than once - every crap is a victory for me right now) - give up, go away, calm down, do the prune juice and bran flakes thing and then go again another time, maybe with the aid of some KY/vaseline (not tried that myself but might be a goody for getting that initial hard lump out?) but, don't just sit there concentrating on pushing - read something, or play a game on your phone, or do your emails on your laptop. I find it distracts me so much it makes everything easier! :D
