I had my ds a week ago, vaginal birth all fine. Got straight on the lactulose and did a poo on day 5 easy!

Now day 7 and I can't go - have just spent an hour crying in the bathroom as there is a turd the size of a house brick up there. I had a look with a mirror - its there, it's as big as my baby and it won't come out.

Seriously wtf do I do apart from cry in a darkened room?! I have already taken the max dose of lactulose today so not sure I can take any more? Drinking lots, eating lots of fibre. Argh.

Help me please!

good luck.

mamarara · 09/02/2012 21:04

Thanks everyone. Sorry to disappoint but there is no poo action here. I am too scared to try again today as I think I just aggravated the piles/broken fanjo with the earlier straining and everything hurts.

I am going to have a bath in a bit and see if that does anything. Otherwise I will have to wait til mw tomorrow. Although walking like John Wayne is not a good look.

Shine out of interest/morbid curiosity - what did you do if it had turtled?!

Hey jars! Nice to hear from you, shame it's over such an unladylike topic

I had this :(

I wish I had glycerin suppositories. I didn't know it was going to happen!

Nagoo · 09/02/2012 21:07

'what did you do?'

cried and bled.

:(

mamarara · 09/02/2012 21:12

Oh god. I've done the crying...

FatimaLovesBread · 09/02/2012 21:13

Glycerin suppositories? We make thousands of them at work, I could send you some Grin

sheeplikessleep · 09/02/2012 21:17

Oh mamarara - get your dh or dp to go out and get you some suppositories from an all night chemist.

They are bloody fast and brilliant. Not really that nice to experience, but the relief is immense.

Just make sure you can definitely use them at the moment, as I'm not sure they're 'recommended' or not.

sheeplikessleep · 09/02/2012 21:18

I have also in the past had to break a bit off Blush.
I find that sometimes moves things along a bit (and it's then not the dried up painful hard bit at the end!)
Def TMI in this post.

Dalrymps · 09/02/2012 21:18

I am pg and this happened to me last week. Much worse than trying to push a baby out. You have my sympathies, it's awfulSad

I sent my dh to the pharmacy at the 24hr Tesco for a suppository but they wouldn't give him any cause I'm pg. Might be an option for you though.

I rang the mw and she suggested disposable gloves and soap and to try to manually remove. I couldn't manage this though.

In the end I filled the bath, lubed up with some baby oil then had to lie on my back with feet resting on sides of bath (think labouring with feet in stirrups). I didn't strain, just pushed slightly whenever I felt the urge and eventually it came out.

I had been on the loo for ages and this was a last resort. I was in the bathroom 2 hours!!!

Hope it comes out soon.

openerofjars · 09/02/2012 21:19

Ladylike schmadylike, mama : we've heard worse from each other, I'm sure. I remember when it was all EWCM round here... Wink . Plus, I do remember after DS was born telling everyone who couldn't get away fast enough about the fact that my bum was still so numb I couldn't tell if I needed a poo or not (opposite problem, really) Blush . It seemed like normal behaviour at the time.

I am fine, ta: unborn DC has reached 24 weeks and is therefore all viable 'n stuff: yay! I have a revolting cold, though. But compared to your ravaged and uncooperative undercarriage, it's nowt. [butch emoticon]

Look, you can have the gin anyway. You need it more than me, plus I'm not allowed it.

Dalrymps · 09/02/2012 21:19

Just to clarify, I was lying in the bath full of warm water. I water birthed my poo babyHmm

ShineYourButtonsWithBrasso · 09/02/2012 21:19

I cried louder than my new born and pulled the hard lumpy bits out manualy until it was safely back inside Blush

DH called out of hours and a gp came to the house with some medication.

Having a bath is a good idea, good luck, I feel for you.

I'm off to namechange now Blush Blush

BorisTheBold · 09/02/2012 21:21

It was the mw who suggested the glycerin supps for me, so they should be ok to use.

Pastabee · 09/02/2012 21:24

It's awful isn't it? I had this a week after birth too..... Took three days to go after taking lactulose.... Could feel the fucker stuck there....hard as a rock. I cried tears of relief when it came out.

My GP friend told me I definitely should have used glycerin suppositories. I bought some but it never happened again. I did keep taking fybogel for a few weeks after 'the incident' though.

MsF1t · 09/02/2012 21:24

This happened to me too- went on for two weeks and by the time it came out it was worse than childbirth. I even went for an assessment at the hospital, it was that bad. I swear the neighbours must have though the OH was murdering me. Or very skilled (his take).

Drink loads (are you breast feeding?). Try pressing flannels soaked in hot water against your bum. Get that stuff that comes in sachets (Fybogel or something?) I did suppositories as well. Basically, it will need to be softened in order to come out.

It will come out, though, and the softer it is, the less painful it will be. Good luck!

MsF1t · 09/02/2012 21:26

(PS I did do some manual evacuation as well. Ouch. Needs must.. . or is that that 'the ends justify the...' sorry, I'll get my coat.)

mamarara · 09/02/2012 21:27

I can totally empathise, after DC1 I had terrible trouble, it was awful I had to sit on an ice pack afterwards.

FaithHopeAndKevin · 09/02/2012 21:29

WEIGH YOURSELF first!

Byeckerslike · 09/02/2012 21:29

It's a badger! Shock Fuck me! Grin

Byeckerslike · 09/02/2012 21:30

FHAK im pissing myself at your excitement!

signet2012 · 09/02/2012 21:30

You need to eat 5 stoned and dried apricots each day and a glass of tropicana with juicy bits in each day without fail. Put vaseline around your bum hole and slightly inside and raise your feet. ( i turn the bathroom bin upside down) drink 3l of water a day also.... you can not miss one day if you do it will go back to normal.

This is what I have learnt from MN after having a three weeks period of not being able to go, and when I do go the er poo being too big for the hole! Blood, piles and tears later I can now do a soft poo daily :)

(Do nearly vomit everytime I have a mouthful of dried apricots mind, but god its worth it!)

lilmamma · 09/02/2012 21:31

eating fruit and fibre etc is fine for next time, but to get it out now an enema is the best.I was the same after baby no2,i worked in a nursing home and the went in,the matron gave me an enema,to do at home and some suppositorys, she said pop them in,run a warm bath,i was in the warm bath, felt an urge jumped out, tried again was in and out the bath, pad on my sore bits,i also had the baby in his chair asleep and the dog !! we lived in a shared house and was alone,so didnt want to leave the baby and the dog cried when we left her, anyway finally i did go,what a relief,it was nearly as bad as giving birth,i never went like that again thankgoodness.
