I accidentally watched the promo video a few days ago. I think I probably need one now dagnamit.

So you need to give us the complete low down.

Did you get the full all singing all dancing set?

What fuel do you use?

Have you really cooked a whole chicken in it? was it a moist bird?

And jacket spuds?

How much can you shove in there?

is it a pita to clean?

How long does it stay hot for, so can you do your fish and then stick some bananas in foil in afterwards?

How high up on your list of essential camping kit is in now?

can you get them in different colours so I can get one to match my tent

Tell me us EVERYTHING.

please

Thanks anyway Slubber

I get cobblestones from Lakeland £8.98 for a box of 6 or 8. No idea if they are cheaper elsewhere, Lakeland is just convenient.

The beer bread sounds too easy to be true. I might make some tonight

Slubberdegullion · 22/06/2009 19:58

I made beer bread when I was camping in Oz in a very rudimentary type Cobb (hole dug, fire in hole, pot shoved in hole & buried). God it was bloody FANTASTIC .

If When I get a cobb I am absolutely making beer bread again. DH will do a little dance of joy.

VanillaPumpkin · 22/06/2009 21:12

I really really really want one!!!!

DH says we need a roof box first .....

AitchTwoOh · 22/06/2009 21:13

where is peachy? i'm looking at the duel fuel coleman thing at £90, and if i'm looking at that i might as well be looking at the COBB at £156, fgs.

Slubberdegullion · 22/06/2009 21:19

I dunno [paranoid]

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 22/06/2009 21:24

Oooh oohhh he said he would look at it!!!!!

Slubberdegullion · 22/06/2009 21:25

My word. I have just informed dh about the beer bread, a little noise of joy came out and he has given me the thumbs up.

Slubberdegullion · 22/06/2009 21:26

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 22/06/2009 21:27

Can you let us know if the UKCS offer still works???
DH is keen on a bargain / saving.....

Slubberdegullion · 22/06/2009 21:29

Well our Cobb was useless and cracked. Was used on sailing trips - and ended up in the bin

Slubberdegullion · 22/06/2009 21:32

hf rains on the Cobb parade

oh no really?

OP posts:
hf128219 · 22/06/2009 21:38

I don't mean to put a dampner on it but 'tis true! Maybe we had a faulty one, I don't know, but we were pretty pissed off.

Mung · 22/06/2009 21:53

Was it the Cobb Premier? Which bit cracked?

Those of you who have one and love it...
Do you ever use it to make breakfast on, or does it work out a bit too expensive to run for some porridge and a coffee?

hf128219 · 22/06/2009 21:59

Cobb Premier - it was the inner casing that cracked.

AitchTwoOh · 22/06/2009 22:01

why didn't you get them to replace it?

hf128219 · 22/06/2009 22:05

Because we are too god damn lazy

VanillaPumpkin · 22/06/2009 22:10

I am not put off, but I will now not be able to show this thread to DH

Beer bread has been mentioned.....

I have to drip feed my ideas to my lovely DH but saying he will look at it usually means I will get it eventually .

I just have to be patient...sadly not my strongest attribute......

hf128219 · 22/06/2009 22:16

Oh I am sorry! I could always say I made it up!!!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 22/06/2009 22:19

Just seen this thread. I love the fact it's got to 80 posts without a Peachy in sight

She's probably off on holiday somewhere. With her Cobb. Eating cake.

hf128219 · 22/06/2009 22:21

Or she's currently on the phone to customer services logging a fault

Joke!

amazonianwoman · 23/06/2009 09:19

Beer bread is in the oven right now. So excited that I forgot to add any extras like sundried tomatoes.

DH will be so excited by this (if it works) he'll want to marry me all over again

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 23/06/2009 09:55

We do love our Cobb, the roast beef we cooked was incredibly moist- if you use the moat it keep sit very soft indeed.

Use cobblestones; slightly mroe costly but they just tip out for cleaning.

Easy to clean according to DH

We wouldn't camp without it. Well we would but wouldnt choose to IYSWIM

We got the premier set which comes with the case and cookbook.

Outside- gets warm but not hot. Safe with the boys.
