I accidentally watched the promo video a few days ago. I think I probably need one now dagnamit.

So you need to give us the complete low down.

Did you get the full all singing all dancing set?

What fuel do you use?

Have you really cooked a whole chicken in it? was it a moist bird?

And jacket spuds?

How much can you shove in there?

is it a pita to clean?

How long does it stay hot for, so can you do your fish and then stick some bananas in foil in afterwards?

How high up on your list of essential camping kit is in now?

can you get them in different colours so I can get one to match my tent

How hot does the outside of it get and would you say it's safer than gas camping stoves?

oh I've got another one, after lighting the coals, or heat beads or whatever, how long does it take to get up to cooking temp?

Is it smokey?

hmmm... camping and barbecue.... whats not to love?

I wasn't sure wether cobb or weber portable was the way to go.

These are words I did not think could be put together and yet have made me tremendously excited.

my friend has a cobb

and we have really done a whole roast chicken and roast veg in it (yummy)

also done curry / chilli (for 8 hungry adults) as well as jacket potatoes, and cobb porridge (yum) and full englisg breakfast

also toasted crumpets using a normal camping toaster

use heat beads.

want to try cobblestones but last year they were out of stock everywhere

the outside does not get too hot and it can go straight in the ground and wont burn

much safer than a conventional camping stove

takes about half hour (or less depending on quality of fuel) to be ready to cook

There is talk on ukcs of these heat beads (and difficulty of getting them). What are they? They sound quite snazzy and futuristic.

can you use just normal bbq briquette things?

The thought of a lovely roast dinner on a wet, miserable day is extremely appealing I have to say.

How did you do the chilli nannyL? Is it a shove it all in the pan and slow cook kind of job?

Do the cobb owners/relatives & freinds of cobb owners use them at any other time apart from camping?
Would you do your Roast dinner in the cobb instead of the oven if you were at home?

That would be very handy at christmas as could do roasted veg in Cobb when turkey is taking up all the space in the oven!

I am watching this very closely. I have been wondering if I need one or not, but now I really feel that I do! Cake whilst camping...that has sold it for me. Perhaps Peachy can get some commission on all the sales

It sounds better than a BBQ so I think I would be tempted to use it at home too.

no sal, I mean if the cobb gave you a tastier chicken than the normal oven, if it was infused with yummy chargrilly type flavours and was so moist that even your guests asked you how you got it that way, Well you'd be tempted to get it out of the garage wouldn't you?

And you know if the campinggaz stove wasn't at the back of the garage with the spiders I would get it out now and again. I love the smell of camping gaz in the morning.

Flappy, that whoosh sound and first smell of gas just lit take me straight back to camping in an orange and brown 1970s frame tent in Brittany with my parents.

We're not the kind of family that wants to bake cakes when we camp though... we tend to take them pre-baked!

Though we are a family who have used our camping stove at home when we have been cooking for a large number of people...

OK I think we need to stop with the smells.

You had me at mussels but the camping gaz and bacon is a STEP TOO FAR.
