So new converts to the cause can find us, how about a register of fanatics, sorry enthusiasts?

How about along the lines of;

'Hello my name is LCC and we have an Outwell Colorado 8' Grin

Hi - we're campers too! We have a beloved VW camper called Daisy and whom we love to bits (and spend a fortune on just trying to keep her on the road). We camp a LOT through the year, mostly near water as dh plus kids are keen surfers (I am slightly less keen - I prefer summer surfing, whereas the others don't seem to care what the season is). DS is 9.9 and DD is 7.5. We also have two big lurchers who come with us and who are rather keen on sharing our beds and our bacon sandwiches...

I have a tent - it's a 3 man dome tent (Eurohike rings a bell, but it could be Vango). Not really suitable for more than 2 people though. Other than one trip to France in 1998 & when my friend borrowed it for guide camp, it has mainly been used for camping in the back garden!

It is a nice tent, but it is unlikely to get treated to many trips out of the back garden (unless someone borrows it!)

Janbo25 · 20/08/2006 19:20

Hi we love our tent we have a Outwell Montana 6 (2006 Edition) and think it is fab!! we love our weekend breaks away with friends and our ds.

Troutpout · 20/08/2006 20:28

Helloo
We (me,dh,ds and dd) have Monty 6 too.
Been away on one short and one long break this summer so far...and are off again in 2 weekends time.

Scoobydooooo · 20/08/2006 20:33

Hello i am scooby & we are new to this we have an outwell hartford XL 7 have just been away for a week in the isle of wight.

Have decided we want to change our tent as there are things about it we did not like.

As we have young kids we want to get a tent with a big bedroom at the back of the tent instead of seperate rooms so we can all be together, as i slept with dd (7 months) in 1 room & dp slept with ds (nearly 4) in another.

Any ideas we were thinking the Aspen 500 DLx but i think it looks hard to put it up we had mega troubles tyring to put the outwell XL up & loads of arguments it was commical!

mymama · 21/08/2006 04:25

Hi I am mymama and I am also a camping addict. We have a Camel campertrailer. Have just booked a week on the Sunshine Coast (Oz) in September Hols. Can't wait. Our camping trips start with dh and I arguing (setting up) and end with dh and I arguing (packing up). Our kids 7,5 & 2 love it.

Jimjams2 · 21/08/2006 08:02

Can I be an honoury camper? DH thinks I am obsessed with schemes to go camping. We have 3 children aged 7, 4, and 19 months but camping with ds1- severely autistic- is a bloody nightmare. Last year and the year before we hired a campervan, worked well the first year, was much harder last year, and this year we took the younger 2 to a yurt whilst Mum and Dad had ds1. Have decided to buy a Mazda Bongo, and may try overnight camping in that, with boys sleeping inside and us in a tent annexe.

Janbo25 · 21/08/2006 08:21

How about getting an outwell Montana then scooby we find it very easy to pur up and like you we love the idea of the bedrooms at the back we zip down the middle and have 1 big room?

Blandmum · 21/08/2006 08:25

Jimjams, I obsessed for years before we got a tent

I'll spend the winter doing the same thing. All campers are mildly OCD, I think

Troutpout · 21/08/2006 09:50

ooh Scooby ... Janbo's right ...a Monty 6 is definitely the answer. You can have it either as 2 bedrooms or as one big one....and the living space is HUGE! I did my back in a few days before the last trip...and dh managed to put up the Monty more or less single-handedly with ds (9) just holding poles every now and then....so it's quick to pitch too (about half a hour i would say)

Scoobydooooo · 21/08/2006 12:10

Thanks i am going to have a search on the net now for the outwell montana, i loved our tent but just found little niggles i was not happy about & 1 of them was the bedrooms because they were squashy & we had to sleep apart (i missed nattering dp's ear off all night) i also found the tent very very warm inside when the sun was shining.

I think we are going to sell the hartford XL & then buy something else next yr as i think we are done with camping for this yr because of the weather & dd being only 7 months she has come home with a terrible cold.

FeelingOld · 21/08/2006 12:18

Scooby - we have the outwell indiana 8 & you can also open up the 2 bedrooms to make 1 in this too. Looks like its an outwell thing.

FunkyFred · 22/08/2006 09:00

Hi, am new to Mumsnet (2nd message). I am chuffed to find this camping section. We're born again campers, haven't been for years but have started again this year. Not sure of the make of the tent, but it's got 2 bedrooms and a living area in the middle and it was cheap!!!. Think if we get seriously into it I'd like to change it. We also have 2 pup tents for our 15 yo's, DH, myself and 2 younger kids sleep in the big tent.

We're off for the bank holiday w/e and are going to take the gazebo this time. Last trip it rained and suddenly the "living" area seemed very, very small.

Lovely to see that there are loads of other happy campers around.

Hello I've been lurking for ages but now it's time to come out of the camping closet

We've got a Vango Diablo 600, ds is 3.5 and dd is 1.5 and we all love camping! Bought tent in May and have since been to Ripon, Forest of Dean, Norfolk Broads, New Forest and Corfe Castle. Off to Forest of Dean (Bracelands) again for BH weekend so hope it doesn't rain too much...

I love reading all of the camping threads and have picked up lots of top tips so thank you all very much!

cubs · 25/06/2007 13:46

i am a fan of the vango redwood 4oo and want to upgrade. does anyone have a redwood 800 out there that they would like to sell, in good condition.

Nemo2007 · 25/06/2007 14:12

Aww just seen my post this time last year!!!
We now have a khyam kansas 8 and now have 3 children...lol

Skribble · 25/06/2007 22:16

Hello I am a sort of reluctant caravanner with a ancient 2 berth I inherited last month.

I have been one work trip in it and BIL has used it for work too. I have kitted it all out and hope to get away for a few days here and there with the kids through the summer and a few weekends once all my summer jobs are past.

DS is desperate to do a paint job inside to make it more funky .

Lucycat · 25/06/2007 22:18

Something like this?

Skribble · 25/06/2007 22:51

Its amazing what art students can get away with calling work .

No it is still oldy styly outside, I want to paint the strips on it gypsy style with names of places on. But probably leave the rest outside plain.

Inside he wants to do the effect he has seen on the hits channel, but brighter colours.

simstar · 17/10/2007 16:16

Hi there campers!
I was wondering if anyone had ever stayed at "Bone Valley caravan Park"
We were thinking about it, and would love to know if anyone knew what it was like?
