So new converts to the cause can find us, how about a register of fanatics, sorry enthusiasts?

How about along the lines of;

'Hello my name is LCC and we have an Outwell Colorado 8' Grin

The bat flag is a good idea- could we adopt that? I'd be up for it! As long as I have time.... whitsun nearly here

zephyrcat · 15/05/2006 16:15

Hiya Mercy :) Where did they have their little one sleep? Our tent just about fits our blow up matress and a little one for dd1!!

We went last year when ds was only 10 weeks but we cheated and stayed ina caravan!!

Orlando · 15/05/2006 16:16

I did wonder about suggesting that all MNers display the page from the Boden catalogue featuring the shiny cardigan lady in their car windows...

might incite road rage, though

zephyrcat · 15/05/2006 16:16

DP has mentioned hiring a camper van to go to the cropredy festival with the kids this year...I've always wanted a camper van!!

Wisp · 15/05/2006 16:20

We had a VW camper, but when number 3 was born- we sold it :( ( it was a 4 birth, and those rock n roll beds are lethal)
Loved it to bits, but cost alot to keep and maintain, and it was scary to drive!!

Hoping that the tent will be as good!

Surfermum · 15/05/2006 16:23

Hello campers! My name is Surfermum and we've just replaced our 70's frame tent - lime green and brown with orange curtains (LOL at the knicker elastic) with a Sunncamp Vario 9. I shall look forward to being in a tent where the canvas actually fits the poles. DH and I had our first ever argument over putting up the frame tent AND we missed last orders because of it Sad. We were the victims too Jessajam of someone else's markings.

First trip of the year at Whitsun with friends and the frame tent is going to be the mess tent for us all to gather in if it rains, so at least it won't be sad that it's getting left behind.

Roll on the summer I say!

Jessajam · 15/05/2006 16:25

yep...reckon putting up tents and canoeing in 2 man canoe are the true tests of any relationship!!!

Mercy · 15/05/2006 16:27

zephyrcat, they had an ancient canvas A-frame type thing which was huge! Plus no blow-up beds - just slept on mats!

As you've got another little one, perhaps a campervan would be better.

onthefarm · 15/05/2006 16:28

I love camping, only ever been with kids (1&3) so still quite new to it all. Inspired by mumsnet bought a tent from Aldi last year. Going next week - can't wait.Hope it stops raining soon...

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 16:29

Y'see to all those who were poopooing a camping topic of our own! There's millions of us!

zephyrcat · 15/05/2006 16:37

We've got 3 little ones - dd is 4.6, ds 23 months and dd2 6 weeks.... I'm desperate to get away this year but think we'd be wiser either getting a van or waiting til we can get one of those really big tents. Does anyone else camp in north devon?

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 16:52

How about \link{http://www.lowercampscott.co.uk/\here} zephyr?

mb checks in at last...

now where's Sally Strawberry?

zephyrcat · 15/05/2006 17:01

I didn't realise they had camping there - it's gorgeous isn't it? Lee is one of our 'secret' places that dp takes us too. There's a little place called Lee Bay that only the locals really know about and it's amazing. The tide is out pretty much all day and you can walk right out through huge rocks/rockpools to a tiny littloe bay of golden sand and really shallow water which is brill for the kids and they can find loads of stuff in the rock pools. One year we went we found a huge lump of quarz crystal on one of the rocks!

Blandmum · 15/05/2006 17:02

My name is martianbishop and Monday is one of my two full daus in work Grin

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 17:06

Guilty as charged m'lud mb! Grin you did such a fine job of selling it's virtues to me!

It does look gorgeous doesn't it - thought the mobile home/lodges might appeal to you this year. Once I show dh the fishing lake he'll be sold on it too!

my name is bh and i have a sunncamp 400 trailer tent. First outing this year was last weekend near legoland

rbj949703 · 15/05/2006 20:32

My name is rbj949703. I don't have a clue which tent we have, other than a frame tent, as we bought it off dh's brother. It's a sh*tty brown colour with brown and yellow curtains.

Dh, dd1 and ds camped for the whole of august last year. I hired a car and joined them for the last 2 weeks.

This year we're staying \link{http://www.eastfleet.co.uk/mainmenu.html\here} for 10 days (stayed there last year, kids loved it), then moving into a caravan on the isle of wight for the last 7 days.

bluebear · 15/05/2006 22:42

My name is Bluebear and we have a vango diablo 600. Only used once so far (a few weeks ago) but we are addicted to family camping now!

alligator · 15/05/2006 22:52

hello I used to be tarantulacGrin but have been a bit snappy lately. We have a Vango Micro 150 for me and dd (or someting like that) and a Vango 200 for dss and dp. We are the nutters that go train and backpack and bikes cos we dont have a car. Its adda whole new dimension to camping believe me.
