So new converts to the cause can find us, how about a register of fanatics, sorry enthusiasts?

How about along the lines of;

'Hello my name is LCC and we have an Outwell Colorado 8' Grin

Love it - Hello, I am Ellenrose and we have a Khyam XL Classic Rigidome and a Mondial 1200 - first outing with our new enormous tent in two weeks and I can not wait Grin

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 12:53

welcome ellen, here's hoping for sun!

Apparently we have to be UK campers this year.

I have memories of sweaty tents at 5am while Inter-railing. Cold wet tents in the west of Ireland in August. Slashed tents at Glastonbury. You see I have tried.

This year I will have the fun of camping with a 4 and a 2 year old and a medium sized bump.

I'm hoping this thread will be a positive slant on my experiences thus far!

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 13:00

Oh I hope so Gem!

mb, sallyst, Kbear and co are going to be soooo excited when they spot this new topic!

Jessajam · 15/05/2006 13:02

Hello, I'm Jessajam and I have sod all idea what out tent is called but we do have one, and a slightly ramshackle talbot express camper.

Orlando · 15/05/2006 13:07

'Hello my name is Orlando and we have a Vango 900'

What I'm pressing for on this thread is a MN campers sign... a pair of pink knickers hoisted on your guyrope or a mooncup on your car aerial or something. Whenever we're on a campsite and I see a family carrying all their washing up in a stacking box or something else that I've read on here I always wonder if they're mumsnetters.

ellenrose · 15/05/2006 13:15

Oooh yes, ways of showing support for two of my favourite pastimes - camping and MN Grin

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 13:20

My guy ropes are fluorescent yellow, pink knickers may clash Grin

is there a MN wineglass?

Hi can I join in. Can't remember what our tent is, but it's green and v. big with 3 big rooms for us and our gorgeous trio of mini-campers - or should that be camperettes or camperinis? we're going to North Devon this summer - they are 5, 3 and 1 so should be lots of fun! Anyone think that camping in Northumbria in the May half term is not a good plan?

pesme · 15/05/2006 13:43

Hi, we got a lichfield madrid last summer and had one outing in it (scotland) hoping to get a few more trips this year.

lunavix · 15/05/2006 13:49

Hello, I am new to camping! We have a Vango Venture 5 (we're still new to this so budget tent!) and we did our second camping trip this weekend, it was fab. Previous to it have only camped at glastonbury.

:)

sandyballs · 15/05/2006 13:50

Hello, I'm Sandyballs and I'm a camper Grin. Don't know what my tent is called but it's very difficult to put up and makes DH swear a lot. And we're usually still putting it up at dusk when everyone around us is sipping a cold beer and watching with amusement.

madamechocolat · 15/05/2006 13:56

Hello my name is Madame Chocolat and we have just purchased a Sunncamp Haven 800....Grin

PandaG · 15/05/2006 14:04

Hi, my name is PandaG, and we don't have a tent yet! Have long term loan of one, which we camped in for the first time a fortnight ago. Wnat a tent of our own though, and keep reading the tent threads with interest. Delighted about our own topic. BTW folding crates are on special at Lidl this week, £1.49 each!

KBear · 15/05/2006 14:13

Woo hoo - our very own camping clique.

spark up the campfires and pour the wine!

My name is Kbear and I've got a Nevada something or other and I love camping!

Mercedes · 15/05/2006 14:15

Hi I'm Mercedes and have been lurking around reading all the camping advice for weeks in preparation for my first camping trip in 10 years - we've now got a 4 year old whose desperate to go and we've cracked.
I am really pleased not to have to trawl through the travel stuff to find the camping stuff.
We don't have a tent but have borrowed what seems to me to be an enourmous tent from a friend. I didn't know tent technology/design had moved on this much

Janbo25 · 15/05/2006 14:15

do any of you fellow campers use trailer tents at all??

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 14:16

isn't this cosy? Grin shall we toast some marshmallows?

OP posts:
Filyjonk · 15/05/2006 14:20

My name is Filyjonk and I have accepted the need to camp this summer (festivals, HE camps, etc).

Can't quite envisage how camping could be fun, think its more likely to be wet and cold am waiting to be enthused with the spirit here.

Any enthusiam vibes gratefully recieved.

LucyCampCat · 15/05/2006 14:25

It took my dh a long time to be convinced fily, I had to buy an electric hook up and fan heater before he'd go camping! now we have a kettle too, it's really quite civilised and the good thing about camping is that if the weather really is shocking, at £10-£15 a night, you can always come home whereas we've been in cottages in the rain in Devon and thought, we've paid over £500 for this we are not going home, so you go out and spend a fortune trying to find things to do instead!

Now we put fleeces, shorts and wellies on and go on the beach! Grin

OP posts:
PrettyCandles · 15/05/2006 14:27

Hello, my name is PrettyCandles and we have a Wynnster something-or-other - we call it the Taj Mahal [insert ironic emoticon]. We also suffer from Estate Car Syndrome so will probably have to get a roof-box as well this year.

Jessajam · 15/05/2006 14:30

Janbo25 - trailertents? we had one, once! Bought second hand, no instructions, it took us over 4hours (honestly) to put it up, we got so desperate we were phoning a friends mum to ask her to go on internet to look for any instructions, she found them but they were in German,, so we tried phoning another friends girlfriend who is German to translate for us over the phone, but she wasn't there...Needless to say, didn't use it again after that, it is languishing in a barn at PIL house.

HenniPenni · 15/05/2006 14:34

Hello, my name's Hennipenni and I'm the proud owner of a hartford XXL (well, proud at the moment, may well change my mind when we put the thing up!!)

Anymore wine and marshmallows anybody?!!

Nemo1977 · 15/05/2006 14:43

ellenrose · 15/05/2006 14:45

Prettycandles - it won't end with a roofbox (says the woman who was convinced we would camp using the boot in our VW Passat - we now have a Land Rover Defender, roof box and trailer!!) - it's great Grin
