Gawd, the minimalists will kill us.....

It was Someone Else's idea, all right?

Carry on where you left off, be it owls, bins, sharks, tins of vodka, karaoke etc. [grain]

RIP number 10 Sad

I am in awe of brambles chicken lore, she is definitely in on the running away and following the sun with our tents tour. Do you think we could have a little mobile chicken coop?

Umm Slubber , how many pina coladas is that? If you need maths books to help you count them that is Too Many. Carol Vorderman went down in my estimation last week when she said on TV that only 3% of teachers had a background in mathematical subjects which was practically none. I was shouting at the TV 'no it's not, it's three in every hundred'. I spotted a mathematical pedants thread yesterday, I'll get my coat...

I just found a thread where the OP was bemoaning the fact that some threads turn into cliques and all the usuals were trotted out, Wolefs, IPOAT, nobdies etc, I waited with baited breath but no one mentioned the mad camping section. We're like the embarrassing old relative you keep in the attic aren't we?

notwavingjustironing · 08/09/2011 15:44

If she keeps on trotting out indecipherable nonsense like that, we're safe forever!

We don't lol all over the place though and call each other Hun and have huge rucks about Shit That Is Not Important.

Maybe we could have a sub-section for debate. Possible topics to include:-

•WOHC versus SAHC or The Merits of Actually Going Camping Instead of staying at Home and Talking About Going. Grin

•Ramekin versus Jam Jar Lid

Etc etc

RIP chook no 10.
I've been hiding AIBU threads on here for ages, they scare me. I once started one and have regretted it since

brambleschooks · 08/09/2011 16:48

I've kept them for three years not ironing. It's an addiction (more hens disease). Started out reading a lot and chatting on the omlet site. I have a few rl and online friends who keep hens and they're a good source of support.

Good news as 'wonky' the pekin chick that looked like one eye wouldnt open is now dual vision, has fluffed up and is trying to get into the feed too. The Wyandotte bruisers are being shoved aside whilst the delicate pekin trio get in to eat and drink.

More pics later.

Do you think I should tell slubber about the mongol horde who are now camping on her drive in bell tents? It certainly has brightened up the area.

notwavingjustironing · 08/09/2011 18:08

I think it's your neighbourly duty to inform her of developments. Grin

Yay for the fluffy chicks. Cute pic.

MisSalLaneous · 08/09/2011 18:19

Sad about no 10 (well, this often applies to my political views too). Yay re upfluffery though!

Slubber, I want what you're having.

Tomorrow morning it's up at 5am for Eurotunnel to France and onwards to our camping spot in the land of cheese. Shattered, so at the moment that sounds like torture, but I'm sure I'll cheer up once we're there. Looks like a hellhole when I look around me though, so a major tidying up / bonfire required before I can go to bed. Urgh.

brambleschooks · 08/09/2011 18:41

Sal, bonne voyage. I expect a full cheese report from you. It is y our duty to try at least 80 varieties.

How could I not have noticed slubber's visit? I think that dh is having her on and has secretly swopped the covers of Carole vordermans maths books (vgood) with the naughty boy's book of tache curling cocktails. It I'd every child's duty to know how to mix fakepimms or a wicked martini, so keep on studying.

Wyandottes turning into right little hooligans. Their jam jar lid is now a paddlingpool, whilst a more sturdy ramekin allows them to eat chick crumb without tipping it all over the bedroom. The pekins are still gathering strength and are mainly being dainty under sheilas tum. They are so pretty and have feathery feet already. I've kept the door shut today on them to allow the pekins to fluff up more before they venture out.

There is more broody poo from sheilas quick dash out. I'm looking for someone with no sense of smell to shift it.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 08/09/2011 19:51

:( poor no10

Brambles I love your posts-you've taught me more about chicken care than my bloody lectures ever did! I always wanted to keep pretty chickens, and you are convincing me that if our next house has a big enough garden I'll get chooks :)

Slubber, you sound sloshed already, glad it's a fun holiday!

MissSal, I hope you have fabulous holiday, it will be great-just think, you don't even have to put the tent up or glamp it, the elves will have done it for you :)

Quiet, boring day at work, only excitement was a loonball client who feels ignoring and not medicating his animals is the greatest kindness. His last dog had maggots when he was put to sleep. Fucker Angry

Anyhoo, wine bookclub tonight, just hoping Ds actually goes to sleep before my fellow alkies they turn up Grin

brambleschooks · 08/09/2011 20:11

Pic update :)

(don't tell slubber I've converted her entire downstairs into a turkey farm)

MisSalLaneous · 08/09/2011 20:30

Bramble, they are beeaauutiful! Awww, I want that silvery blue one. Thanks re trip. I will indeed try my best to taste all the wonders of the Dutch countryside. Since my clothes don't fit me anyway, I might as well throw myself into it completely.

SeaShells, it must be heart braking seeing someone mistreat their animals. Sad Hope wine bookclub cheers you up a bit.

I have a cold and am starting to feel a bit miserable. Not a good way to start a camping weekend really, is it?

brambleschooks · 08/09/2011 20:34

Un mn hug for seashells. Not good. More wine.

Sal - bring hamster jam please.

Sniggering at the conunction of slubber's downstairs and turkey farm, given that the more boingy chicks have spent part of the afternoon pecking at Sheila's wattles (flaps). Sheila is stoic.

Cold and miserable is what camping shouldnt be. Have a brandy.

lostinwales · 08/09/2011 20:37

Oh boy too cute, they are making me feel quite funny, I'll be giggling and twirling my hair soon and posting images of lolz catz, , that's better.

Don't think slubber will care whatever you have done to her house right now Grin, time to paint the outside in Cath Kidson prints.

Quite jealous MisSal gets to be a WOHC, I don't think there is much merit in Staying Home and Talking about Camping. Eat lots of cheese and think of us [wunk]

scaryt · 08/09/2011 20:38

Seashells hope your book club is good, what are you reading?

Sal have a fab time. Really hope the cold magically vanishes. Please take pics of all the dutch tenty goodness.

Collect my new red skoda next Thurs, am silly excited (once I stopped hyperventilating over the money).

My new class are lovely and doing ever so well.

Brambles the chick pics are so cute in all their fluffy loveliness. I so want chickens.

lostinwales · 08/09/2011 20:55

I might get mine at the same time scaryt Grin it's so exciting! Don't think about the money, it's an investment Skoda's keep their value a lot better than most cars. We'll have to have a Skoda appreciation society (patched cardy and brown slacks compulsory)

notwavingjustironing · 08/09/2011 21:24

Sal have a lovely trip lady!

OP posts:
scaryt · 08/09/2011 21:30

Oh yes, I can work with an investment. Hope you get yours soon. I'll sort out my cardy for the appreciation society.

MisSalLaneous · 08/09/2011 21:55

Grin bramble.

Thank you very much everyone. Fingers crossed for no or at least limited rain. I just wish I had ds's rain suit, it's sooooo good. Will take lots of pics of the wonders (or not?) of a De Waard. Will miss chatting though.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 08/09/2011 23:38

Wine was excellent, book wasn't, chat was fab Grin

Read righteous men this month: next is The Hours, but I'm reading Mrs Dalloway too

Off for a gorgeous wine assisted sleep-5hrs To go before the dc wake!

YellowDinosaur · 09/09/2011 06:48

The chicks are super cute! Smile

Angry at Seashells twat man who mistreats his animals. That makes me mad

MisSal have a fab time! You will be on you way now - how exciting

I'll be about a bit more this weekend as dh is away so no more catching up on The Killing till he gets back! Of course there is Xfactor fighting for attention on Sat AND Sun but since it isn't too heavy going and doesn't have subtitles I'll be able to multi task!

Off to work soon - see you later!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 09/09/2011 07:10

Morning all! I have a wee hangover-more tea required! It's my day off though so contemplating soft play hell so at least I'll get coffee Grin

Brambles-just caught up with your photos-they are very very cute!

Re stupid man, I feel better today :)

Slubberdegullion · 09/09/2011 08:45

tent and namely sleeping bags are stating to smell decidedly turkey farm.

Funtimewincies · 09/09/2011 10:40

Grrr, computer ate my post last night Angry.

In a nutshell...ahh chicks, bon voyage MisSal, tut tut Slubber, ds1 loving Reception.

Only it was much wittier (well, after a couple of glasses of wine it was Hmm).

Just as well Grin.

brambleschooks · 09/09/2011 17:28

Guten abend

chicks well. Like mobile bobble heads, randomly falling asleep then toppling around.

Hope miss sal got off to forrin ok.

They're silaging here, so no one will notice slubber.
