Has anyone been?
Going?
Is there a festival thread somewhere?

DH booked tickets today. I haven't been to a festival in an age, and DH has only been camping once. We are taking the 3 DC who will be 1, 3, & 9.

Any tips/reassurance?

Lobsters dd has packed her case and I have made bunting and taken down fairy lights. Other than that we have done nothing.

I will have to get a box of wine I think.

chimchar · 27/07/2011 21:06

Girls.... I am liking your laid back approach. I am still panicking and have packed enough clothes for at least 3 months. I am now stressing about the rain on Friday.

Fucking fuck. I need to look at clothing options for rain!

Curlybrunette · 27/07/2011 21:17

I am SO excited!
We are setting off about 6am tomorrow (got a 6 hour ish journey). Everything is in the car except the fridge/freezer stuff and toiletries. I've got 2 boxes of wine in the freezer, 1 in the fridge and a box of red (best to have enough we figured...Blush

I think we've got enough food for brekky and 1 meal each day as well as drinks and snacks. Am really hoping not to spend a fortune

QueeferSutherland · 27/07/2011 21:55

Car is packed.

DH is off out to buy supplies early tomorrow.

And.........
We all have D&V!

Nooooooooooooooooo!

Oh Queefer, no, so unfair! Fingers crossed for no more than 24 hour thing, in fact the lesser known 12 hour bug. Six hours?

My car is about packed. Just need to add:

  • coolbox with food in
  • bucket
  • toilet bag and facepaint box (will fit in another bag already in the car)
  • backpack (my handbag for the weekend, contains money, sunscreen, snacks, blanket, first aid kit, etc).
  • me
  • DD
  • phoebechicken and DDs
  • erm, all their stuff (inc tent)

Biggest challenge has been keeping the damn cats from packing themselves, either in the suitcase or the car.

DD and I have waterproofs, including trousers for her if it's seriously wet. I'm travelling in jeans, and will wear them if the weather seems set to be dry but coolish, otherwise I have Thai fisherman's pants which should dry quickly (and are hilarious, before they're tied up I look like a before/after massive weightloss photo). Vest tops and a couple of shirts for extra warmth or keeping the sun off my lily-white shoulders, nice cardi for a bit of warmth, fleece for serious warmth. DD has dresses and leggings galore, little cardi, hoodie for more warmth, fleece for nighttime and if the hoodie should get soaked or anything.

I'm not a naturally organised person but if I don't do this right I'm going to have a massive tantrum and set it all off to a bad start.

Oh, public service announcement - EVERYONE - REMEMBER YOUR TICKETS!

luciadilammermoor · 27/07/2011 22:35

So are we doing a mumsnet meet? Are we? Are we?

Boden tent 3pm Sat? We can all be slightly bedraggled and harrassed post-costume parade. I will be wearing a lilac medieval surcoat and a fixed grin insearchofbooze

Am not ready, am not nearly ready, am knackered and will do rest in morning.

Poshbaggirl · 27/07/2011 22:40

.

Poshbaggirl · 27/07/2011 22:44

Stase, they have a decanting station. You will have to decant. They confiscated my nutella first yr i went!

sfxmum · 27/07/2011 22:51

no boden tent this year as far as I can see

DontCallMeBaby · 27/07/2011 22:54

I heard there's no Boden tent - where is our alternative spiritual home?

sfxmum · 27/07/2011 23:10

the WI cake tent Grin

StillSquiffy · 28/07/2011 06:54

I will be in WI tent sipping some tea, probably wearing a maxi dress, 3pm sharp on Saturday. Assuming I'm not somewhere else.

QueeferSutherland · 28/07/2011 08:49

Woah woah woah;

will they confiscate my marmite? Is nothing sacred? I shall instruct DH to buy squeezy forthwith.

Why not do the mumsnet meet at the silent disco on Sat at 6.15 as that's when DH is playing? He's only on for half an hour though...

Bearcrumble · 28/07/2011 09:03

Also how do you do a medieval hairstyle?

QueeferSutherland · 28/07/2011 09:24

I was just going to have mine down, crumble. Or plats.

Apparently, married women covered theirs, but who cares about accuracy?

OP posts:
QueeferSutherland · 28/07/2011 09:25

Where is the silent disco?

OP posts:
DontCallMeBaby · 28/07/2011 09:41

Big Top, Queefer. App says 6.30 tho ... am going to uninstall and reinstall to make sure the times are properly up to date!

luciadilammermoor · 28/07/2011 09:48

SIlent disco, right you are. We're off in 10 mins. Have fun everyone!

DontCallMeBaby · 28/07/2011 10:04

Okaaaay, uninstalled the app, started reinstalling it, it was going okay and now it's disappeared. Can't reinstall cos App Store reckons I have it already, but it's definitely not on my phone ... now synching my phone for apps only, which will probably completely bollox everything up!

MarionCole · 28/07/2011 13:18

Car packed. See y'all at the silent disco!

sfxmum · 28/07/2011 14:40

Still stuck in traffic somewhere near Dochester. Silent disco it is then Wink

fivegomadindorset · 28/07/2011 15:01

sfxmum, road past us is very quiet so come from Wool to West Lulworth and turn left (wave as you go past) range road (official way in) is solid.
