Has anyone been?
Going?
Is there a festival thread somewhere?

DH booked tickets today. I haven't been to a festival in an age, and DH has only been camping once. We are taking the 3 DC who will be 1, 3, & 9.

Any tips/reassurance?

We are pinching our lights from our bay trees in the garden. I am taking my wellies just incase.

Our tent is sorted. I am going to make some food to take as our budget is tight.

twinklypearls · 25/07/2011 16:19

What field is everyone camping in?

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 25/07/2011 19:12

If I ever mention making costumes again, someone give me a virtual slap! I'm going to be up till midnight the next two nights finishing the damn things off. But they look alright, if I do say so myself.

We have to pack tomorrow as we are leaving weds to stay overnight with my grandad in Wiltshire. We have been going on about making a list for the last two weeks but still haven't done it. I can see us panic buying last minute crap from Tescos this time tomorrow night. Oh well it will be worth it! I'm quite anxious about when we should aim to arrive, how we transport stuff, where we camp etc, I'm sure it'll all fall into place. Anyone got any top tips?

fivegomadindorset · 25/07/2011 19:13

It's looking good.

luciadilammermoor · 25/07/2011 22:58

Am frantically getting things out then being harsh and putting them away again while thinking 'if you don't have that , you'll regret it'.

AAARRRRRRRRRGHHHHH Will be getting up early to cook meals and freeze them in time for Thurs departure.

Need to finish costumes as welll ARRRRRRRGH some more.

sfxmum · 25/07/2011 23:01

I expect that the only stress I will have is before I manage to budge dh&dd out of here at a reasonable hour. everything seems under control, keeping it simple and checking my lists

(watch as I eat my words Grin )

camping well I thought I would try for purple near the the Forum area but not quite but we shall see

twinklypearls · 25/07/2011 23:21

I think we are thinking the same, although if everyone else has the same idea it becomes pointless.

DontCallMeBaby · 26/07/2011 08:51

Map!

We've been talking about Green ... it looks soooo far away on the map, but I've done a highly scientific comparison with an identically scaled local map, looking at a journey I know, and I reckon it's about half a mile. Which is far enough tbh, but we have TOO MUCH STUFF to traipse for miles from carpark to campsite.

twinklypearls · 26/07/2011 09:34

I thought dp was going to say green for that reason. We have a trolley but even with that it is going to be hard work.

fivegomadindorset · 26/07/2011 09:39

It's not to far, it's next to my sisters house.

MarionCole · 26/07/2011 10:47

fivegomad can I ask you a question please?

We come from the Dorchester direction. When we arrive we always follow the signs and come through Wool (and sit in the queue).

When we leave we always go through West Lulworth, past the holiday park and join the A352 further along. Will this road through West Lulworth be closed when we arrive? Or will we be able to avoid the queue from Wool by going that way round?

Thanks Smile

sfxmum · 26/07/2011 10:57

I don't mind the distance on the first and last day but I do mind the everyday distance from site to tent, particularly with tired child

I really do hope we manage to leave London at a decent time
last year we stayed in Dochester on Thu night and had a huge queue the following morning but still were better off than many who missed the few first performances, including the first MrTumble, in fact I think the man himself barely made it

fivegomadindorset · 26/07/2011 11:00

YOu are being directed in a different way I think this year when you get to Wool over the railway towards Wareham and then right, but I could be mistaken and I am sure thta if you come the usual way then that should be OK. NO it won't be closed.

MarionCole · 26/07/2011 11:12

Right by the railway is the way we were sent last year, mid-morning it was queued almost back to Wool. The other way round we could join the same road by the camp and we would miss most of the traffic. Didn't want to get all the way down there though to find we have to turn round! Thanks for your help.

fivegomadindorset · 26/07/2011 11:15

They are trying to avoid Wool this year although not working to well with the lorries, as there were so many complaints.

MarionCole · 26/07/2011 11:57

Queefer no I haven't made real chainmail! It's just like long pyjamas made out of silver fabric!

DH is still up for dressing as a princess. All 20 stone of him. He bought a size 36 medieval style dress from ebay. He still has to get his wig.

I don't think I'm going to dress up, although I am going to get a Hit Girl wig to cover my manky unwashed hair.

happycamper23 · 26/07/2011 16:44

After being so excited about CB I have just found out I am pregnant! Now I can't even find the energy to make a list to pack!!!!! At this rate we will be arriving with some sleeping bags, some noodles and no tent! Must get myself moving Smile

But we will be there (morning sickness and all Smile) but with alot less wine!

MarionCole · 26/07/2011 18:39

Congrats happycamper Smile

DontCallMeBaby · 26/07/2011 19:31

Aw, that's lovely happycamper! Well, not the morning sickness so much. :) And if this leaves you with any spare wine, I'm sure we could all club together and help you out.

Speaking of wine, I'm having second thoughts about the wine-freezing plan. I might just make it very very cold indeed in the freezer and attempt to keep it cold with ice packs and frozen Capri Suns.

vbus · 26/07/2011 20:13

Congratulations happycamper, lovely news!

Don't callme baby - wine plan sounds good

I'm seriously wondering how all this stuff will fit in the car Hmm Also can't find my sleeping bag, will have to hunt through the loft for it, must've got misplaced when we moved house last summer

MarionCole · 26/07/2011 20:18

I'm having car panics too. There are six of us coming so even with a MPV and a roofbox we're struggling. DSD's friend is coming and she apparently has no concept of packing light, so I'm dreading to see what turns up on Thursday.

DontCallMeBaby · 26/07/2011 20:29

There are five of us ... mind you, me plus all three kids probably don't add to much more than Mr Cole! And they're 7, 7 and 4 so don't get much say in what they pack ... however I am incapable of packing light it seems! And I haven't even got round to detangling the fairy lights from the acer so I can pack them. I've also lost our peg puller, so I'm hoping phoebechicken has one.

Poshbaggirl · 26/07/2011 22:21

Arghhhhh panic. Not started packing yet!

twinklypearls · 27/07/2011 00:00

I haven't packed, I have however made bunting Grin and pinched my fairy lights from the garden.

phoebechicken · 27/07/2011 08:47

Does anyone else keep having last minute panics about all the things they could have bought but didn't? (today it's fairy lights..)

Must finish packing!
