Starting Calorie counting tomorrow. Anyone want to start with me?

Bookaholic73 · 22/03/2025 21:42

My current weight is 11st 4lbs.

I have a holiday in 7 weeks and would like to lose 2lb a week before my holiday, reaching 10st 4lb.

I already exercise consistently and love it. I do HIIT classes, life weights and have started boxing.
But now I just need to lose the fat.

My calorie deficit is 1700 a day, and I’m aiming for 120g of protein a day (or as close to that as possible).

Anyone else want to start with me tomorrow, or just join in if you’re already calorie counting?

Good morning everyone! It’s 2 weeks until my holiday, so I’m kicking it up a notch.

Im going to reduce my carbs a bit for my lunches and dinners.
I’m at my goal pre-holiday weight, and about a stone away from my end goal of 10st.

So I’ll eat a bagel or something bread related for breakfast, as I need the carbs for my cardio.
Then I’ll have salad every day for lunch, then meat and veggies for dinner.
I’m hoping this will help just suck in my tummy a bit before I get into my bikini!

Can I join in too please. Monday weigh in works. I had lost weight counting calories previously but it all went out of the window as I have been travelling quite a bit it. No more now until September so want to get back to it.
i have also only done resistance training since last April( my knees and joints are very thankful) and limited cardio to walking and 30 mins of hiit, so i am not sure if some of my weight gain is down to muscle mass as my clothes still fit me. But I am Aiming to continue with my exercise but add back in stricter calorie counting.

BG2015 · 27/04/2025 18:46

Back from Egypt. No doubt the 6lb I lost has gone back on 🙄 but we keep going. 12 weeks now to our next jaunt so am going for it big style. Calories counting, swimming and walking. If I can lose a stone I would be very happy.

coolmum123 · 28/04/2025 10:47

Are we putting our Monday weigh in’s here or just diarising for ourselves?

Jumblebum · 28/04/2025 10:51

Can I join you please? I have gone from 8.5 stone to 11.5 stone in two years post full hysterectomy! I'm only 5 foot 2 so I look and feel terrible. I have thyroid issues so can't go down the weight-loss injections route although I would love to because I get a lot of food noise.

Because I'm so small with a messed up metabolism I never seem to lose weight unless I have a significant calorie deficit, so I'm going for 1000 calories a day with an 18 hour overnight fast. Is this crazy???

BG2015 · 28/04/2025 18:48

I only put 3lb over my holiday so am really pleased with that!

HayleyBean · 28/04/2025 18:57

Hey can I join? I've successfully lost 22lbs CC and hitting the gym. Just have the last stubborn 7lbs to go. I've been dicking around the past few months with the same couple of lbs. I've not been as strict because I'm fairly happy with where I am now

Whichever you’d prefer. No pressure to tell anyone, but also feel free to post it.

10st 13lb as of this morning. So I have hit my goal of under 11st. Fab!

Welcome, of course you can join!

1000 calories is incredibly low, even for someone on the shorter side. Have you calculated your TDEE?

@BG2015 Well done, 3lb will disappear really quick as soon as you get back to normal post-holiday routines!

Welcome! Those last 7-10lbs can be so stubborn can’t they! Well done on your weight loss so far, you’ve done great!

Thanks that’s great! Yesterday was my first weigh in post holiday @78.2kg. I was 76 to 77kg last year. I have changed my workout routine last April to pure resistance training and cardio limited to indoor cycling/dog walks and hiit once a week. So I think some of the weight increase is body composition as my clothes still fit me fine Anyway my aim is to go down in 1kg increments to 73kg. My calorie deficits on a daily basis can’t be too low as it affects my training so let’s see. It’s all an experiment! 😀

ETA spelling

Bookaholic73 · 29/04/2025 14:55

@coolmum123 yes it definitely sounds like body composition weight, which is great!
My plan is to cut to around 10st (140lb/64kg) by the end of the summer, then up my calories and go into a muscle building phase.

I already do weights, but have lowered my weight sessions and increased the cardio since March, as I just wanted to look good for my holiday.
However, I really miss doing weights and can’t wait to get back to it!

good plan! 👍 hope the results show swiftly. I have found that my body responds really well to hiit and heavy weights rather than long cardio sessions, low weight high reps so that is now what I plan on doing for the next 4 months. Let’s see if I see results at the end 😬

HayleyBean · 29/04/2025 16:02

Yep my body definitely responds better to heavy weights over lots of cardio!

BG2015 · 02/05/2025 08:40

After 5 days my weight is now back to pre holiday weight. Been swimming this morning. Proud of myself as we've had Ofsted in school this week and the amount of tempting things in the staff room was immense. Crisps, chocolate, donuts, cakes - just a nightmare.

But back on it now - 11 weeks to lose a stone!

Bookaholic73 · 06/05/2025 08:33

Well done @BG2015 it’s so hard to resist the office snacks.

I go in holiday on Saturday so am still plodding along on the low carb meals to get rid of some of the bloating.

I’m kind of coasting for the rest of this week, then when on holiday I’ll be making sensible choices food wise.
Starting when I get back, I’ll be going full force into my calorie deficit and getting back into exercise.

Hello. How is everyone doing? Weighed in this morning and lost 3 pounds in a week. Does anyone else find they lose weight quickly whilst ON their period as opposed to before?

BG2015 · 09/05/2025 06:58

Well done Sally.

I don't weigh in until Monday but I do weight myself everyday.

A sneaky 1lb has crept back on, this is what happens that makes me give up. 56 and post menopausal is just a nightmare. I have to stick to it rigidly, if I slightly deviate I just either stay the same or gain.

I have 3 days now to try and reel it back in.

Gosh that's so hard. Hopefully it's a bit of water weight and drops off quickly.

Yes this happens to me also!
I feel like 3 weeks out of 4, my weightloss is quite predictable. But the week leading up to/the start of my period I quickly gain 2lbs then lose it!

coolmum123 · 09/05/2025 11:04

I don’t seem to have lost anything but it’s only been a week or so since I have started tracking so happy to continue and trust the process. I currently don’t have a time goal so am experimenting and aiming to hit my macros. I have to watch my carb intake is what I have discovered so will readjust for that in the coming weeks.

Bookaholic73 · 11/05/2025 04:50

Good morning. I’m on my holiday now, and am so pleased with the food options at our hotel.
Lots of fresh fruit and veg, salads, fish etc. I’m going to try and choose healthy options most of the time.
They also have lots of exercise classes on during the day, so I might join in with some of those.
I’m hoping not to put on any weight at all, but we will see.

@Bookaholic73 it’s so great when the food is good, makes life so much easier.
I love the pastries and bread on holiday but resisted them last time which I really think helped.
Have a great holiday and remember it’s all about balance 💗

BG2015 · 18/05/2025 10:29

I’ve lost half a stone now! Swimming twice a week, walking most days and making healthy choices!

The Nutracheck app is also brilliant- so glad I subscribed to that. Need to lose another 10lb (or more)!

Hows everyone else doing?
