1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

@YinMnBlue well done. You are doing amazing. Just work on cutting out the ice cream and crackers and you have a good healthy day of eating.

Good job OP! Looks like you found your motivation.

I’ve just made a big batch of minestrone soup for the next few days. Was fine to do except the house is so frigging hot today!

lou967 · 20/05/2020 22:21

Thanks @batqueen I'm certainly more motivated since I found more jeans to slim into.

I made stew on Monday and it should last until Thursday/Friday. Glad I didn't make it today.

Your soup sounds lovely

So glad you've got your motivation lou. You sound really on top form.

I had a bad day yesterday. Well, it started the night before when my friends zoom chatted me and we ended up drinking wine - so stupid! I had a few hundred calories left over so I thought 'fuck it' and had three glasses. Blush In the middle of the fucking week! Ffs.

So then I felt like crap yesterday, I mean I was actually hung over Blush , and I ate a whole tonne of shit, crisps, biscuits, the lot although I did have a good big salad with lean meat for dinner.

Anyway, woke up this morning, did my yoga (I'm using downdog on YouTube - very good really), steeled myself and put the whole fucking lot into myfitnesspal which I had been avoiding since yesterday morning and yes, I went 600 calories over BUT that's fixable - I just won't eat during the day and have a 600 cal dinner. So glad I got it together to put in what I ate - it's much better than thinking ah fuck it there's no point now I've slipped.

And you know what, it was nice chatting to my friends and we had a laugh so, that's important too. But fuck me, that wine.

EvenPhilip · 21/05/2020 09:59

Bunty I think we are all going to have bad days, like you say the key is not then to write off the week so good on you!
I think I'm going to struggle in the next few days, period due which makes me even more carb crazy than usual Confused

BookSkark · 21/05/2020 10:01

Wine is my downfall too BuntysBumperAnnual - and then once I've opened the wine, I also go for the snacks...

The really annoying thing is that I start each day full of motivation that this will be a good day. I do my HIIT exercise, and have all these plans to eat healthy meals. And then 6pm hits.... I need to stop spending the evening on the ipad (one hand free for eating/drinking) and get back into all my crafts, and have an earlier night and read my book in bed. I know this, and yet I still fail to actually do it!

EvenPhilip · 21/05/2020 10:10

I'm impressed you can both start the day exercising, my energy levels are really low. I'm going to start doing callanetics this afternoon and next week introduce some cardio.
Also invested in some massage oil and a roller type thing to massage my legs in front of the tv at night, a bit of pampering to encourage me to stick to this.

BuntysBumperAnnual · 21/05/2020 10:49

@EvenPhilip thank you! I'll be honest with you, re exercise, I really don't feel like it in the morning but I remember from when I used to do yoga more regularly that it gives me energy, weirdly. I haven't done anything for years - single parent, no car so usually spend ages getting home on crappy public transport so don't have time, also had a big operation a few years ago that did me in physically for a long time after - so I'm only doing 25 minutes but it's good to get back at it.

@BookSkark exactly! It's not just the wine but all the eating crappy stuff that goes with it!

BookSkark · 21/05/2020 11:01

I don't want to exercise at the start of the day - or indeed any time! But if I get up and put workout clothes on instead of showering, I'm less likely to decide not to bother. Once I've showered and dressed normally, it's much more of a mental effort to get changed to do exercise. And as BuntysBumperAnnual says, it does set up you for the day quite nicely - just feel a bit more energised.

Focusanddetermination · 21/05/2020 11:54

I got upset and ended on about 800 calories yesterday. Not bad for the calories.

lou967 · 21/05/2020 12:11

Breakfast was porridge and skimmed milk with a banana and some blackberries.

Going shopping later on. Any recommendations to buy?

I had cereal with almond milk for breakfast, which I only had half of as it went soggy between work calls.

Lunch was a salad with small amount of pasta, loads of leaves, radish, cucumber and some orange pepper and 20g of vegan cheese

I am weighing everything on my digital kitchen scales (aside from the salad leaves etc) and this is definitely helping. Previously I'd have had more pasta and cheese.

Currently working on my laptop in the garden trying to get some sun. I've bought lemons and limes and I'm putting a slice in my water rather than using sugar free squash as I'd have done previously.

3rdNamechange · 21/05/2020 12:56

I've done 10 days. Almost the same 13st and 5.9 bloody depressing.
I was doing the Fast 800 but I'm usually around 1000/1200.
Not really drinking at the moment but sadly it's not making much difference.

lou967 · 21/05/2020 13:10

@3rdNamechange my weigh in day tomorrow. It'll be a week since I started 1200 a day.

Beef Stew for lunch. Thats all gone now. I'm going to make some more this weekend. Its a nice, quick, easy and filling meal.

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
YinMnBlue · 21/05/2020 14:28

Breakfast:
Small bowl of Bran Flakes and S-Skimmed milk.

Lunch:
150g cottage cheese
1 small slice of wholemeal bread (no butter)
1 big tomato
6 or 7 Olives - the ones in a jar in brine, not the delicious oily ones

Veterinari · 21/05/2020 14:29

I've massively upped my exercise this week but have also increased my eating Hmm
However my scales tell me I've lost 3.5% body fat (no idea if accurate) and 0.4kg so I'm happy with that.
Still a fair way to go!

I'm mostly eating two biggish meals a day trying to do 16:8, and logging everything on my Fitbit

lou967 · 21/05/2020 15:20

I've taken some "before" photos this morning. I was debating taking some of me trying on my jeans to compare as I slim, and as they start to go higher up my legs. DP said to do it, but I didn't feel comfortable. He gave me a pep talk and he took some of me. I've not seen them and don't want to.... yet.

He's very supportive and said to help me maintain once I've lost the weight, he's going to weigh in with me weekly. He doesn't need to lose or gain but its a support tool. Also I've asked him to measure me. I'm also going to ensure I wear jeans when I'm home and not to wear leggings, loose clothes. I need to keep it off once I've lost. Hopefully it works. Just got to get there :)

Dinner was Turkey breast, vegetables, potatoes and i had yogurt and fruit for pudding.

Batqueen · 21/05/2020 20:01

I had a fairly big lunch so just went for a long walk - 6.8km apparently 340cals. Planning the minestrone soup for dinner.

lou967 · 21/05/2020 20:32

Great :)

BuntysBumperAnnual · 21/05/2020 21:38

@3rdNamechange how dispiriting. I'm sure it's doing you good though - you must have swapped at least a bit of fat for muscle, and I bet you feel better. I don't think I've lost anything either - I certainly hadn't by Tuesday. Although actually my weight fluctuates by around 4lbs between days so I think I just caught myself at a 'thinner' time when I weighed in on Saturday and my starting point using an aggregate figure was more likely 13st 6. Is there a chance that's the case with you - that your real starting point was higher?

@Veterinari that body fat loss is amazing!

Your husband sounds lovely lou.

I've done over 8000 steps today some of which were a three mile post work walk. Really pleased with that as I've been far less active since lockdown - working a lot and live in a small flat so even if I'm doing housework it doesn't take many steps!

Fish stew for dinner - onion, carrots, fennel seeds, tin of tomatoes, coley fillets, bit of rice for me, more for the kids, roast tenderstem broccoli and asparagus done with that spray oil. Clocked in at 500 cals and I had a banana before going for the big walk to give me energy so I've done it - 600 cals. Yay!

Focusanddetermination · 22/05/2020 08:18

1100 headrest which was tea / coffee and one meal. Don't think I'm moving much.

Think I ate : 5 vine leaves, slice of ham, slice cheddar, cucumber, sweetcorn, 4 Ryvita, 2 boiled eggs, yoghurt. Doesn't sound like a lot but it added up. And filled me up quite well. Oh and some juice.

Focusanddetermination · 22/05/2020 08:19

*calories not headrest auto correct...
