Does anyone fancy being my MFP friend?

I've just started using it again but I haven't got any friends on there & don't want to publicise it on FB! I think if I had some friends I'd feel a bit more accountable & less inclined to cheat.

I did see a thread from January where people had given their user names but felt a bit rude adding them without checking first.

Last time I used it I managed to lose about 1 stone but I've since put it back on -& the rest!-

I'm 5'10 and currently 13 stone 8. I think I'm heading for about 11 stone but I've never been a healthy weight (heaviest was about 15 stone 7) so I'm not entirely sure at the moment.

My user name is SophieHQ.

bobaggins here if you want to add me, been doing MFP for 6 weeks now and lost 19lbs Smile

babygiraffe86 · 09/03/2015 21:18

Ooo popcorn I need your secret - mfp has just congratulated me for logging in for 25 days. In total I've lost 4 lbs :-(

I'm juSt not strict enough and apparently eat nowhere near enough protein and farrrr to much fat :-(

I'm L33xyg on there. No friends on it and today been out for a birthday meal so don't hate me too much for the thai food that I've eaten today oops!!

SmilingandWaving · 09/03/2015 21:18

Hi popcorn, thanks for replying. I've sent you a friend request. I'm only 2 days in so for so haven't got a lot to show for it yet!

Well done on the loss so far, that's fantastic.

Lefrej992

I'm 3 days late with 2 negative tests Sad so waiting for my period to start again because I'm too stressed hoping I get it yet. But I'll be back on it if I do. Plus Id already hit my target but I'll have gained again now haha

SmilingandWaving · 09/03/2015 21:24

Hi giraffe, X post there. I'll add you now.

I went out for lunch yesterday, it was meant to be my first proper day logging. Not sure the huge cheese ploughmans & slice of cake were a great choice! I'm the last to judge what anyone eats!

I seem to be logging a lot of fat too but I'm also trying to cut down on carbs so I've no idea if I'm getting the balance right.

I've always been overweight so I'm trying to be really accurate about what I log as I think potion sizes are one of my big problems, that and a love of sweets & junk Blush

babygiraffe86 · 09/03/2015 21:29

I changed the settings on min to aim for 40% protein 40% car and 20% fat - god knows if it's realistic or not!

Got a holiday in 7 weeks and aiming to lost about 10 lbs by then

Dp bought me an excercise bike for Xmas and when I have the motivation will do 30 mins a day on it and see a great difference in body shape. But then I found food and wine again and stopped oops!! Maybe if people are watching my mfp I might be a little more strict with myself :-)

SmilingandWaving · 09/03/2015 21:29

Hurr1cane, I've just added you. I'll cross my fingers for you, I think most women know that stress all too well! Thanks

OP posts:
SmilingandWaving · 09/03/2015 21:37

I didn't even know I could change the ratios! Will have to have a closer look.

10lbs sounds realistic in that time. We've booked a holiday for early June, I'd love to be able to sit by a pool without trying to hold everything in! My big motivation is my friends wedding in August though, I'm a bridesmaid & the bride & other bridesmaids are all so slim. I feel like a giant next to them.

I've just started the Davina 7 minute fit dvd, I'm going to try to do at least 2 a day, possibly with weekends off. I really lack any motivation to exercise at the moment, surely even I can manage 7 minutes at a time though?

I've cut out sugar (which nearly killed me) and cut snacks out so have 2 meals a day, I'm finding the longer I go without food the easier it is so have incorporated 16:8 fasting in too. I don't eat between 8pm and 12pm so I'm only actually eating in an 8 hour window and fasting in the other 16.

SmilingandWaving · 09/03/2015 21:57

Sounds like it's working really well for you Popcorn, you have amazing willpower. I'm trying to cut out sugar but end up telling my self a little bit won't hurt & then the cravings just get worse.

Do you find you get any dizziness at all? I tried the 5:2 but ended up fainting a couple of time, I find if I don't eat regularly I get really dizzy & lightheaded. My plan now is to eat less but regularly and really control the portion sizes.

Really I need to stop making excuses & stick with it, I haven't been a size 12 since I was about 14!

I'm hoping that knowing other people are doing it too will help me be strict!

starting today with a crumpet (yup just one, i miss having 2) and a mango and strawberry tea!!

soup for lunch,

haven't decided tea yet!

BeansInBoots · 10/03/2015 08:48

My mfp username is fairly identifying if someone on here knows me, is anyone okay for me to just add you? Infact.. I might anyway.. Feel free to reject me if you want!

I did it for a while and lost a few lbs but I've probably put it all back on now..... Let's go!

SmilingandWaving · 10/03/2015 09:04

Hi Beans, yeah feel free to add me, the more the merrier!

Mango & strawberry tea sounds nice, Giraffe. I'm on my second mug of black coffee so far, I think I have the beginnings of a caffeine headache!

Breakfast for me was Greek yogurt with fruit, lunch will probably be salad or soup and dinner will be bacon, poached egg, spinach & grilled tomatoes. As long as that fits into my calorie allowance obviously!

I plan to do at least 20 mins of exercise today as well.

I know what you mean about knowing others are doing it makes you stricter, I was tempted to go for a couple of slices of toast with butter this morning but thought I'd better not. Although the chocolate chip fairy cakes that DS made are calling to me at the moment!

I'm being really careful with portion sizes and try not to have a portion bigger than my palm, I had spag Bol at my mothers house the other day and her portion was massive next to mine, she is also very overweight and can't understand why she's not losing on SW, I said look at your plate of food...no wonder you're not losing any weight, it was about 5 times bigger than mine!

PopcornFrenzy · 10/03/2015 09:08

Forgot to add...please feel free to add me....bobaggins

SmilingandWaving · 10/03/2015 09:18

My parents have huge portion sizes as well and are both overweight. It sounds so silly but it's taken me years to work out what a correct portion size should be and to recognise when I'm full.

I had to move back in with them after uni & put on 2 stone again, I was only there 9 months. Bad habits just seemed to creep back in!

PopcornFrenzy · 10/03/2015 09:29

You'll probably see if you look at my food diary that I'm trying to eat like a thin person, I weigh my food religiously and eat very slowly with a massive glass of water so I can recognise when I'm full. This isn't just a diet for me it's a whole new way of eating.

SmilingandWaving · 10/03/2015 11:16

I don't think I can see your food diary Popcorn, you must have your settings as private.

Sounds like a good idea with the water, it's probably something I should do as I never drink enough.

I'm trying really hard to eat more slowly as well, putting my knife & fork down between mouthfuls & chewing slowly. It's difficult to break the habit of a lifetime, normally I clear my plate before DH is even half done!

I'm trying not to think of it as a diet either, otherwise I end up losing a bit & then I celebrate with a cheat day & it's back to square one again.

OP posts:
PopcornFrenzy · 10/03/2015 12:08

I've put it to public now, so you'll be able to see it, I also have a massive glass which I fill when empty and drink throughout the day. My skin feels loads better, hair and nails have got stronger too.

SmilingandWaving · 10/03/2015 16:48

Thanks Popcorn, I'll have a look.

I've managed 6 glasses of water so far today which is about 6 more than usual.

I've just got a new phone which automatically tracks my steps and adds it to MFP. Somehow I'd managed to get to 4pm with less than 900 steps Shock. So I've spent the last 10 minutes walking laps of the house & have managed to get it up to 2000. Which is no mean feat in a tiny 2 bed terrace, one whole lap was only 80 steps. Might have another go in a minute! Grin

OP posts:
PopcornFrenzy · 10/03/2015 17:02

My iPhone does that too, I try to walk my 10k steps today I've managed 14k which I'm quite happy with.

Tonight's tea is chicken fajitas ??

babygiraffe86 · 10/03/2015 17:31

Ooo popcorn great minds fajhitas for us too :-)

I really need to increase my stepping - stupid office job means I walk nowhere :-( 30 min blast on the exercise bike every night should help that :-)

PopcornFrenzy · 10/03/2015 17:36

I do fajitas for one as DH is away at the moment, I buy the mini tortillas so it looks like I'm having loads, I have 4 mini ones with lots of peppers and onions and one chicken breast sliced.

SmilingandWaving · 10/03/2015 17:53

Wow 14k! Is that part of your normal day or do you have to make a point of going out & doing it? DH does a lot more than me but he walks to the train every day. I work from home so commute down the stairs Confused

I think I'll have to make a point of going for a walk with DS in the afternoons, I'll just have to put up with the winging every 5 minutes Grin

We make fajitas quite a lot as well, it's a good way of stretching out a chicken breast. Although I have to watch the extra helpings of sour cream.

I live about 1.5 miles from stone henge so all the NT walks around here are amazing, I put my 4 month old in her carrier, stick my boots on and off I go. I aim to walk for a couple of hours or if I'm pushed for time at least my 10k steps when I don't walk I do the Charlotte Crosby DVD.
