Does anyone fancy being my MFP friend?

I've just started using it again but I haven't got any friends on there & don't want to publicise it on FB! I think if I had some friends I'd feel a bit more accountable & less inclined to cheat.

I did see a thread from January where people had given their user names but felt a bit rude adding them without checking first.

Last time I used it I managed to lose about 1 stone but I've since put it back on -& the rest!-

I'm 5'10 and currently 13 stone 8. I think I'm heading for about 11 stone but I've never been a healthy weight (heaviest was about 15 stone 7) so I'm not entirely sure at the moment.

My user name is SophieHQ.

I'm Samelam on MFP, I think we are friends?

Testarossa1 · 26/03/2015 20:32

Yes we are! Just checked. Smile gone over by 17 calories today. Not too bad considering my other half had done sausage casserole and mash for tea! Wink

Jumblebee · 26/03/2015 21:21

Oh I miss sausages :( probably my favourite meat but so high in calories! And mash potato...with lots of butter...mmmm! And 17 calories is nothing really Smile

Well me and DP must have looked like a right pair of wallies just now! I decided to do my old weights routine (starting again with my lightest weights) and oh.my.god I feel the BURN. I don't think I've worked my body like that in nearly 3 years Shock DP was much better at the stomach exercises, I couldn't even do most of them. Work tomorrow should be fun Hmm

Jumblebee · 26/03/2015 21:23

Also staygold and seeking I shall add you when I get on the laptop Grin

I think tomorrow is day 21 for me, I remember reading it takes 21 days to break a habit so I'm hoping that because I've come this far I'll keep going. I'll be so disappointed in myself if I stop and go back because DP has done so well eating healthily and he's been so supportive!

Testarossa1 · 27/03/2015 09:48

Did anyone watch the programme on calories last? 9pm bbc1 worth looking for on catch up. It was really interesting.

Jumble, you can get half fat sausages, that's what we had and they really aren't bad!

A weekend away for us, alton towers tomorrow and a tour of silverstone race track on Sunday. Hoping the amount of walking involved in a trip to the towers will balance out the rubbish I know I'm going to eat!!!! Pizza and pasta buffet for lunch, but it does have a salad bar so going to try and fill up with that first....

StayGoldPonyBoy · 27/03/2015 10:46

I didn't Testa but I'll have a look tonight- sounds interesting.

Have a lovely weekend! We're taking DD to Scotland for a week at Easter. It's in a Haven caravan park, she's never been to one before so that'll be fun. However there's only a restaurant, papa John's pizza and burger king on site so hopefully the surrounding area will have nice places to eat or I'll come back 3 stone heavierGrin

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 27/03/2015 11:29

Hi can I join? I had quite good success previously with MFP but then stopped as I didn't have time to log in every day. Need to motivate myself a bit more as I've put weight back on over the past year.

Have joined a local gym & my pregnancy-induced sweet tooth has finally disappeared.

My NN on MFP is yorkshiremum.

Testarossa1 · 28/03/2015 07:58

Will add you telephone. I've lost another pound this week, thrilled as that means I've now lost half a stone! Don't know why it's worked this time, I've tried before but it's just been the odd pound, maybe a better frame of mind this time (and a massive freak out on the scales at the start!!!)

Jumblebee · 28/03/2015 10:07

I'll add you ASAP TelephoneSmile

I'm glad I'm not the only one that had a pregnancy related sweet tooth! Before wanting sugar and eating crap was I think just greediness. After DD I felt like I HAD to have sugar (mainly on a nighttime) and I would be in a foul mood until I had it.

I think I can see positive changes in getting rid of all the rubbish, I don't feel so tired and lethargic in the morning Smile

Testa well done on the 1lb loss, you went away this weekend didn't you? And still a loss Grin I'll have to try the sausages, normally we shop at aldi and they don't seem to have any lower fat sausages.

Weigh in day for me and I've lost 5lbs! Shock So 11lbs in total which is crazy (but I'm running with it Grin) I think possibly last week caught up with my as I stayed the same. DP stayed the same so I think he's quite disheartened, especially as he has stuck to his calorie limit all week. But I begged him not to give up because I think the only reason I've stuck it out is because he's been doing it with me!

Testarossa1 · 28/03/2015 12:10

Jumble that's a fab loss! I'm away this weekend, at Alton towers at the mo, having a latte right now Grin lots of walking here though so hoping to counter balance treats with exercise Wink

sniffysnifferson · 28/03/2015 16:06

im hayls321go feel free to add me.
I'm losing slowing but surely, 11.6lb gone so far (84 days of logging)

Jumblebee · 28/03/2015 22:00

Sniffy well done on your loss Smile I've sent you a friend request (and a couple of others for the newer people-finally gotten on my laptop!)

Thanks Testa Grin hope you enjoyed your latte, I think I may treat myself to a green chai latte, just done some weights workouts and I feel I DESERVE it! Also found that programme on BBC iplayer, is it The Truth About Sugar? Going to watch it when the kettles boiled Smile

Testarossa1 · 28/03/2015 22:49

Yes, that's the one Jumble. Interesting stuff, going to be on again next week about fats I think.

Diet gone out the window today. Blush Ended up at the pasta and pizza buffet for lunch and a harvester pub for tea! Though at a rough calculation of walking around 3 hrs accumulated at the Towers (we were there from 10.30am and 5.30 I earnt some extra calories, still gone over by 190 though! Hotel includes breakfast tomorrow too! Eek! Going to have to be super good next week to make up!!

Jumblebee · 28/03/2015 23:18

It was The Truth About Calories, the sugar one was an earlier episode. It was very interesting, especially the part where they showed the difference between the calories on the packaging and the calories they worked out! Plus the presenter was kind of hot Wink

160 over isn't too bad considering, little reductions in what you have the following week should balance it out! Plus all that walking = muscles which weighs more than fat so if there IS any gaining, it's obviously new muscle Grin

Testarossa1 · 29/03/2015 08:21

He was easy on the eye wasn't he Wink it was an interesting show, thought They were going to say pointless calorie counting, but they said its ok

New muscle! Like your thinking lol! Grin

glacierchick · 30/03/2015 10:11

Hi Ladies! I'd like to join too. I have been entering the numbers on MFP consistently the last 6 weeks or so (though I've been a member much longer).

I'd lost 3.5 kg, but then started to put on again this week Sad so I think I need a little motivational help. It's wine and snacking that are my enemies, the latter mainly as a way of dealing with stress.

I live abroad and in a super-skinny office so could use a some anonymous helpers/cheerleaders.

I have another 6 kg to go to get to my pre-baby weight, I'm not great at exercising, though I bike everywhere, and manage one pilates class a week and sometimes a training session too...

Cheers

GC

Jumblebee · 30/03/2015 19:21

Hi glacier, I'm here as a mumsnet cheerleader Grin

However I think I need my own, the past 2 days have been crap!

Yesterday I was at a wedding and there was cake and a 3 course meal and I cared not one bit about the calories (so much so that I had a panini, a toffee hot chocolate and a slice of chocolate cake for brunch!)

Today has been carbs here there and everywhere. Combination of being hungover from a party/night out last night and being on the go and grabbing an unhealthy meal deal. I think for tea I'm going to dig out some spaghetti bolognese from the freezer and have a huge salad. And promise myself tomorrow I'll get back on track Grin

Testa I'm going to watch the Truth About Sugar tonight after DD has gone to bed to give myself some fresh inspiration Smile

Testarossa1 · 31/03/2015 15:32

It's interesting Jumble

Trying to be really good this week after a pig out at the weekend. Off to the gym after work, usually do 20 mins of cardio, 20 mins on the weight machines and 15 mins of abs stuff, then 5 mins stretch off.

Just need to find the energy now, time of the month, so only really feel like curling up on the sofa with a huge bar of chocolate!!!

Jumblebee · 31/03/2015 23:05

Testa I understand that feeling all too well, it's my "star week" period, shock horror! and all I've been craving is sugar and carbs. Had an absolutely crap day and I've eaten far too much chocolate. I'm really hoping tomorrow will be better but today has been a complete write off!

Well done on getting up and to the gym, I'm a bit envious of your will power!

Testarossa1 · 01/04/2015 09:31

I managed to resist the chocolate, I bought myself some choc chip snack a jacks and had one of those, not quite as good as dairy milk, but at least the flavour was of chocolate!

Also managed 45 mins at the gym. I've found if I go straight from work its better than going home first, otherwise once my bum hits that sofa I'd never get up and go back out to the gym!!

I don't really have that much will power Jumble. It's just I know I need to lose weight, and I've made sure I have found healthy or low, calorie stuff to snack on and its readily to hand, otherwise I'd be at the crisps, biscuits, chocolate etc. Plus losing a few pounds is motivating itself as its always good to see results of a healthier lifestyle!Smile

SmilingandWaving · 01/04/2015 10:43

Hi everyone! I need to find more time to come back to this thread, it's definitely motivating knowing you're all out there too.

I was actually going to ask if anyone else had the energy dip before their period. I was due on at the weekend and the whole of the previous week I could barely get off the sofa, it's awful. I get really light headed as well, had to stop 10 minutes into the shred as I almost fainted! I had to sit on the floor for 10 minutes before I could get up without going dizzy again. I also gained a pound!

Then Monday morning I woke up and felt like I could run a marathon or maybe not I went for an hours walk Monday evening and a half an hour workout dvd last night.

I discovered the choc chip snack a jacks this week Testa, they're much nicer than I was expecting, in fact I think I'm going to have one now with a cup of tea.

Well done everyone on keeping going this long!

OP posts:
Testarossa1 · 01/04/2015 15:41

Hi smiling, the choc chips one are not bad are they? Though I prefer the caramel ones. I figure they have to be better than munching crisps or a wispa Wink

I'm convinced i'll have a gain this week, I'm having a 'feeling fat' week, though guess that could be my period, anyone else get that?

Heads up for another 'the truth about' program tomorrow bbc1 at 9pm, about fat this week.

SmilingandWaving · 02/04/2015 11:44

I found I can stop at one with them as well rather than finishing up the whole pack. Probably because they're so big so I feel like I've had enough. I do love a wispa though!

Yeah I had a fat week last week pre period and did end up gaining as I indulged a few too many cravings and couldn't rouse myself to do any exercise. I'm trying to make up for it this week but I've had a horrible headache since last night & it just won't shift. Staring at a screen probably isn't helping much.

I watched the calorie program last week so will definitely watch tonight, although DH hates food/diet programs so might have to catch up tomorrow.

OP posts:
Jumblebee · 04/04/2015 08:20

Hope you're both on track, I know I'm not!

I kept promising myself to get back on track but I didn't do it Hmm weigh in day today and I was going to avoid the scales but decided I needed to face up to whatever damage I'd done. 2lbs on! Confused My only saving grace is that I'm still on and I always gain (but I know that dominos pizza last night didn't do me any favours!)

I just don't know where my enthusiasm has gone Hmm

Testarossa1 · 04/04/2015 13:18

Well, not lost anything this week, but not gained either, so guess it's not all bad! Was expecting to put some on as I've been on, and I've caved to several slices of toast and marmite Confused hoping for a better week next week.
