Does anyone fancy being my MFP friend?

I've just started using it again but I haven't got any friends on there & don't want to publicise it on FB! I think if I had some friends I'd feel a bit more accountable & less inclined to cheat.

I did see a thread from January where people had given their user names but felt a bit rude adding them without checking first.

Last time I used it I managed to lose about 1 stone but I've since put it back on -& the rest!-

I'm 5'10 and currently 13 stone 8. I think I'm heading for about 11 stone but I've never been a healthy weight (heaviest was about 15 stone 7) so I'm not entirely sure at the moment.

My user name is SophieHQ.

We use 1 chicken breasts between 2 of us haha - get the from ou r local butchers as they do 6 for £5 and they're huge!!!
2 wraps and a handful of tortilla chips :-) just can't step away from the sour cream :-(

SmilingandWaving · 10/03/2015 18:26

That sounds lovely popcorn, we can walk to the park in about 15 mins so we'll have to start doing that more now the weathers nicer. And more family walks at the weekend I think.

I have managed to do 3 of the Davina 7 minute workouts today and DS decided we were having a minion disco so I spent 10 minutes dancing around the front room quite energetically. I felt a bit out of breath so I've logged it.

The sour cream is my downfall to Giraffe, that & the cheese!

Feel free to add me anyone :) my mfp user name is Elllicam (with 3 L's). I'm doing the 6 week 6 pack. I'm aiming to lose the belly fat before we go to centre parcs next month.

SmilingandWaving · 11/03/2015 09:04

Hi Elllimam, I've just added you.

Good luck with the 6 week 6 pack, I tried it once thinking it would be a nice change from the shred. I could hardly bend the next day!

I'm Samelam on MFP if anyone is looking for another buddy Smile i've got a few people from mumsnet on and then when I fall off the wagon I always feel guilty seeing all my friends still logging in!

SmilingandWaving · 11/03/2015 10:49

I've added you Jumble, I'm hoping the guilt will keep me on track. Who said peer pressure is a bad thing!

Me I'm rachjuly78 on there. I'm supposed to be doing slimming world but failing so I'm sticking with gym, fitness dvd and watching what I eat.

Jumblebee · 11/03/2015 11:40

Thanks smilingGrin

If I look through people's food diaries it's quite interesting to see what other people eat!

I'm hoping my competitive nature will put that little voice that says "if she can do it, so can you!" there to spur me on Smile

SmilingandWaving · 11/03/2015 11:53

Apologies if I've sent you more than one friend request Innocent, my phone had a bit of a moment.

What fitness dvds do you use? I've just started Davina's 7 minute one.

I feel a bit nosy looking at peoples diaries! It is interesting though. I think I claimed up thread that I was trying to give up sugar, my diary tells you exactly how well that's going! There's nowhere to hide now!

I have come to realise that planning for the day is the only way i am strict with myself.

so, soup for lunch and a cheese and brocolli pasta bake for tea :) maybe some garlic bread. then 30 mins on the exercise bike again :)

7 week to lose 10lbs - determined :)

babygiraffe86 · 11/03/2015 12:03

I used to swear by the 30 day shred, but broke my sports bra and cant do it without one (stupid 32f's) they'd be pointing to the floor if i tried without haha!

SmilingandWaving · 11/03/2015 12:31

I find planning in advance is the best thing as well. Although I need to get a grip on the snacking at the moment. Sounds like the 10lbs will be gone in no time.

I weighed myself this morning & have gained half a pound! I'm not logging it as I'm hoping it will gone by the weekend. I'm going to try to just weigh myself on a sunday morning otherwise I get a bit obsessed with it.

I'm intrigued by how you broke a sports bra! Although if it was during the shred then I'm not surprised! I've only ever managed 20 day in the past but it did make a huge difference. I'm just so bored of it now as I've started and stopped so many times. The Davina DVD has about 7 different 7 minute routines so I can mix & match which I'm hoping will stop the boredom.

I planning 3 x 7min workouts and a walk to the library this afternoon. Soup for lunch and a hairy dieter chorizo bake for dinner.

babygiraffe86 · 11/03/2015 12:40

haha nothing as fun as that I'm afraid,
it was in the wash and got tangled with a belt off something, i think a dressing gown - lost patience and tried to pull them apart - ended up with broken bra and stretched dressing gown belt ha!

I do keep hearing good things about the davina DVD so will have to give it a go.
One thing I have realised, especially with toning exercises is instead of weighing myself I should really just measure as though i am still 10 and a half stone as before i have managed to drop 2 inches off my thighs by doing 40 squats when brushing my teeth!!

PopcornFrenzy · 11/03/2015 14:47

I'm doing the Charlotte Crosby beast DVD, it's bloody hard work but she breaks it down into 3 minute chunks which makes it doable.

Jumblebee · 11/03/2015 18:18

I always feel like I'm being a bit intrusive looking at other people's food diaries too, it's quite a personal thing really. If I kept a food diary of what I ate when I wasn't trying to be healthy I would be ashamed (a couple of weeks ago I managed to polish EIGHT kitkat chunkies in ONE DAY! I knew that it was disgusting but they were in the house and I felt like I had to have them Hmm

I was watching supersize v superskinny on youtube yesterday and realised my food tube would probably be the same as a supersizers Confused

I'd love to start exercising again, but I'm too embarrassed to start running again as where I live now it's all streets and cars passing and I felt so ashamed the last time I went out for a run. I can't do an exercise DVD either because I live in an upstairs flat with laminated flooring and it sounded like a herd of elephants had been let loose!

SmilingandWaving · 12/03/2015 09:10

Well none of yesterdays planned exercise happened for me! DS threw a huge strop about walking to the library & ended up having a nap instead and then my apple account was down so I couldn't access my exercise program could have done the shred via youtube, but that's not the point!

In the end I was slightly over my calorie goal but I was under the day before so I'm not going to stress about it.

Giraffe you're right I should measure rather than weigh, I'm waiting for my jeans to fit properly to know that I'm making some real progress.

3 minute chunks sound good Popcorn, I had to look up who she was though and she looks like she might be from something like Towie. I'm not sure I could stand it, all those types of programs make me cringe! Mind you I'm not all that keen on Davina McCall but she's actually very good on the DVD.

I ate an entire bag of mini eggs the other week Jumble so I know where you're coming from, it's not the first time I've done similar & it wasn't a small bag either! We can't have chocolate or biscuits in the house anymore!

What about going out for a fast walk & building up from there? You could wear normal clothes and keep looking at your watch so it just looks like you're hurrying to get somewhere! I felt so self conscious when I started running, I even had people men shout stuff out of cars at me. Whenever I see people out running though I just think how brilliant they are.

I'm glad I'm not the only one Smiling Grin I don't ever buy junk food in my food shop, my trolley always looks so healthy! But it sneaks in when I'm on my way home from work or out with DD (we have lots of cheap shops in our town centre with the best sweet aisle, I have a huge sweet tooth!)

I'm still sticking to it and I've been under my calorie limit every day apart from one so I do feel good Smile although I have an unexpected day off today and the urge to go buy a big bar of chocolate and curl up on the settee and watch a film is strong. But I have that association of food = entertainment and I need to break that!

That is a good idea, I don't walk much really. It's a half an hour walk to work but I end up getting the bus (making excuses like I'll have to leave earlier and I'll be tired when I get into work) so I think I need to start at least walking home from work so I'm getting the exercise and not detracting from family time.

Sorry I'm completely blabbing on now so I'll stop Smile

Jumblebee · 12/03/2015 10:39

Also I have an impromptu day off from work today (and a baby free day as she's with her gran), I've just finished a huge Americano from Costa and I'm about to have a browse in some shops, pick up a few healthy food bits and then go home and relax Grin

PlayNice · 12/03/2015 13:24

I'm TheLightPrincess and I'd really appreciate any adds. It's nice feeling that you're not miserable alone!

SmilingandWaving · 12/03/2015 20:01

Hi Play I've accepted your friend request.

I'm finding it really motivating seeing people logging exercise. I managed a lot more walking today, finally took bake the library books & came back via the park. I've also just finished 4 of the Davina work outs, the stretching cool down is really good, much longer than the one on the shred & really seems to help with the muscle ache. I'm just hoping I can keep up this level of motivation!

Hope you enjoyed you day off Jumble, sounded lovely. I could walk DS to nursery but it would then mean making up an extra half hours work in the evening, which is a pretty poor excuse really as half an hour is nothing really. Also we'd have to get the bus there as it takes DS 40 mins to walk it (we did it once) and he starts at 7am, there's no way I'm getting up early enough for that!

Just found this thread, can I join?

I'm a secret eater Confused

I'm gingerchubs on MFP- please add me and keep me in check!!!

SmilingandWaving · 12/03/2015 20:26

The more the merrier Pressure.

MFP was a great wake up call for me, I was shocked at the amount of calories I was eating some days. In the past I'd buy a packet of biscuits in the morning, eat them all by the afternoon & hide the wrapper from DH Confused. Now I just don't buy them as I don't seem to have any will power! It's made me much more mindful of what I'm eating.

I should add that I set up a new MFP account when I started again Sunday which is why you can't see all my terrible past eating habits!

OP posts:
Jumblebee · 12/03/2015 21:09

I did, thank you Smiling Smile but even half an hour counts! If I get the bus I get longer with DD in the evening so that's my plus!

I'm starting to think you are actually me, I am a wrapper hider too! Hmm

I shall go on my computer in a minute and add you Supply and Play, I can't work out how you do it on the MFP app!

PlayNice · 12/03/2015 21:20

I know what you mean! It's so terrifying when I realise quite how many calories I've been eating on my naughty days.

I have a depressing habit of binging in my bedroom and then shoving all the wrappers of shame in the Sainsbury's bag from whence they came, and throwing them all straight away so I can pretend it didn't happen.
