Does anyone fancy being my MFP friend?

I've just started using it again but I haven't got any friends on there & don't want to publicise it on FB! I think if I had some friends I'd feel a bit more accountable & less inclined to cheat.

I did see a thread from January where people had given their user names but felt a bit rude adding them without checking first.

Last time I used it I managed to lose about 1 stone but I've since put it back on -& the rest!-

I'm 5'10 and currently 13 stone 8. I think I'm heading for about 11 stone but I've never been a healthy weight (heaviest was about 15 stone 7) so I'm not entirely sure at the moment.

My user name is SophieHQ.

Kiev recipe - obviously tweak it a little as I dont deep fry theM I oven bake them haha :) and as I said previously ill add some grated parmesan to the breadcrumbs just to taste :)
Good luck with the weigh in smiling.

I've just weighed myself jumble and stayed the same too - and I'm telling myself that the pizza frim last night hasn't has time to become fat yet so I can still work it off haha!!

Does anyone fancy being my MFP friend?
Namechanged101 · 21/03/2015 09:25

Hi all
I'm Thedreadedmumtum on there will add you all- I've got to get back on track lost 4.5 stone and kept off for 10 months or so then Xmas came and I got into bad habits again snacking, chocolate puddings etc put 10 pounds on :( hopefully a bit of support there will help us all out

HollyBdenum · 21/03/2015 09:32

Hello. I've just noticed this as I was about to start using MFP, as I have have recently (following a stressful 6 months) edged from a bit overweight into properly fat and I really need to change it.

babygiraffe86 · 21/03/2015 09:34

Welcome ladies - hopefully all help each other :-)

HollyBdenum · 21/03/2015 09:36

I'm Clothilde123, by the way.

Testarossa1 · 21/03/2015 09:58

Jumble, definitely think positive, you've not put anything on, that's good, just resolve to be better next week!

Jumblebee · 21/03/2015 20:12

Thanks rossa Smile well I have been really good today. Usual breakfast of scrambled egg, some veg and bacon. Then a feta and mixed grain salad for lunch, with a snack pack of grapes and 2 go ahead chocolate covered biscuits. Dinner was chicken stir fry and I mindlessly snacked on more grapes! (Must stop that, I could eat the whole pack if I wanted to, without really noticing)

I have about 330 calories left, maybe for a chai latte or some yogurt if I'm hungry before bed. I would love to be 2lbs lighter this time next week Smile

Testarossa1 · 21/03/2015 22:19

That's good jumble. I've gone over today, knew I would! But have looked at the week overall and I'm 280 calories under my weekly allowance, so think that's ok. I'll probably go over again tomorrow as we are having a roast beef dinner!

Jumblebee · 24/03/2015 21:04

Jiraffe thank you so much for the recipe :) I have saved the picture, it's mine and DP's day off tomorrow so I'm thinking if we go out we'll go buy the ingredients and he can help me attempt them for dinner! And of course the pizza can be worked off :D thats what my downfall was last week, I had 2 slices at that buffet :(

How's everyone been doing the last few days? I had a week moment with a blueberry muffin. It was for DD but of course I ended up eating some (I'd say about a quarter) and yet again I had a moment with leftover pasta :-/ apart from that I've been quite good. I'm surprised that I haven't caved to my usual evening sugar cravings yet, no more family sized bars of chocolate for me :) I do need to work on my eagerness to jump on the scales though. I have a few good days and then want to weigh myself thinking 'I've been so good, of course I'll have lost half a stone in 3 days!' and when the figure staring back at me is not so good I get disheartened. Weigh in day is strictly Saturday only!

How did the weigh in go Smiling? :)

SmilingandWaving · 25/03/2015 11:31

I actually lost another 2 lbs which I am both over the moon and pretty shocked about.

However Sunday afternoon a packet of mini eggs disappeared! And then yesterday I caved into a craving for oat cakes and butter, I felt pretty sick after! Why I can't stick to 1 or 2 I don't know. I also haven't done any exercise since Saturday!

I will crack on with the exercise tonight though. DS has been a bit of a nightmare about sleeping this week, well he sleeps but it's in our bed with his feet in my back from about 3am every night! So all I want to do in the evening is watch a bit of tv & get into bed.

Well done for ditching the chocolate! I think a weekly weigh in is the way to go, if you're anything like me it can become a bit obsessive and then even a slight gain has me thinking what's the point!

OP posts:
Jumblebee · 25/03/2015 12:28

That's amazing smiling Grin

Ha, those pesky mini eggs! But they're addictive, it really is impossible to have just one. We're going out for lunch when DD wakes up so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll be sensible.

I don't think anyone would blame you for skipping a couple of work outs, you must be exhausted! Sometimes I night in front of the tv is just what's needed. From 7pm onwards I'm usually glued to the settee.

I get far too obsessive, I constantly look at my progress on MFP and the little progress diagram. I went through my history yesterday and saw my lowest weight on there. Even found the MFP status saying I had lost 54lb so far :( I have all that and a little more to go now!

Testarossa1 · 25/03/2015 14:17

I had a pizza for tea last night, not so good! But I'd had a low cal day and 30mins walking my parents dog who we've been minding so just managed to squeeze inside my allowance. Sadly the dog is going home tonight, so back to the gym for me!

Jumblebee · 25/03/2015 20:52

Testa that's good! The thing I like about calorie counting is that you can still have what you fancy if you stay in your calorie limit. I think it's also eye opening to see just how many calories are in the things we would normally eat.

I could easily polish off one of the co-ops ham, mushroom and ricotta pizzas (they're huge rectangular ones) but I dread to think about how many calories is in one Confused

Well I messed up my day! Breakfast was good but by the time we went out for lunch I was starving and adopted the "fuck it I'll have it all!" frame of mind. Big chicken, stuffing and gravy sandwich with fish shop chips. I think my only saving grace was DD preferred to eat chips off my plate instead of DP's, so I didn't have that many. There were healthier options I could have taken but my problem is I see eating out as a treat so I want to have something yummy and high in fat Confused we got a big muffin for dessert but couldn't eat it after. We halved it this afternoon.

I had no idea of the calories in it but I've guesstimated about 1000. Haven't had any dinner because I'm not very hungry but I had a huge sugar craving (the type that has me prowling in the kitchen trying to get my hands on anything) and came back out with a box of weight watchers cookies. Thankfully they were in packs of 2 and weren't very nice so I stopped at the one pack!

No plans to go anywhere tomorrow (except the park if it's nice) so I should easily stick to better options as it's all we have in the house Smile

Testarossa1 · 26/03/2015 09:33

Pass yesterday off as a bad day jumble, and try and be good today to balance it out. Have you tried snack a jacks rice cakes? Might help with the sugar cravings, especially the caramel ones, they are really big and lovely and sweet, I usually have one with a cuppa on an afternoon, at only 51 calories they don't take up much of your allowance. What are you having for lunch today? 2 boiled eggs and a couple of crisp bread with Phillips for me.

True it is an eye opener how much is in food we'd eat without even a second thought at times!!

Starting to notice clothes are little looser and the not so much muffin top either!

Testarossa1 · 26/03/2015 09:33

Philly not Phillips.....

Jumblebee · 26/03/2015 10:00

I shall do, I have to go into town today to get my hair cut today so lunch will be out. But I'm planning to go to spud-u-like so I know I'll have something better for me and filling. Your lunch sounds good Smile

I haven't had snack a jacks in years, I'll have to hunt them down Grin the caramel ones were my favourites!

That's so good, it's amazing to see the results happening, even when it feels the slowest thing in the world. I've got a pair of skinny jeans on today that are teetering on the verge of fitting, but I'm hoping that as the weeks go by they'll become more comfy!

StayGoldPonyBoy · 26/03/2015 11:12

I'm new! My nn is AmberzumWeightloss if anyone wants to befriend me?

I have about 3 stone to lose atm. I've done Slimming World and I liked it but I'm not paying a fiver to get weighed every week when I don't really get much out of going to my local group! A little support system would be nice thoughGrin

I work long hours in the city centre so I'm mostly working on healthy lunches because it's the Pret and greggs sandwiches every day and the 'I've had a long day and I'm sad about it' chocolate on the way home that's helped the weight creep onSad

SmilingandWaving · 26/03/2015 12:01

Hi Stay, it's lovely that this thread is still going & attracting new people.

What does Slimming World actually involve? I've never actually seen what sort of food they advise, I am friends with one of their reps on facebook though (old school friend), she's lost loads of weight & looks amazing. She also posts lots of motivational stuff some of which I've found quite useful.

I love Greggs sandwiches, it's a good job I work from home really or I'd be in there every day!

I have also written yesterday and the previous 3 days off as a bad day, suffice to say it involved no exercise & a Chinese takeaway!

So far today I've had fruit, yogurt & a cup of tea. I'm also still trying to drink more water. Lunch will be soup.

That's brilliant that you're seeing results Testa, I think they call that a NSV on the MFP forum. I love looking at the success stories on there, some of the transformations are amazing, I find it quite motivating so maybe I should have another nose around!

Hi Smiling

SW is basically a healthy eating plan based around eating unlimited lean meat, potatoes, pasta, rice, fruit and veg. It really does work, I lost 6lbs my first week and between 2-4 every week after, but I get so bored with the food and I don't like how they peddle diet coke and muller lights etc as 'healthy' which is what I'm going for this time rather than thin as quick as possible. My mum loves it though and has been a target member for ages nowSmile

It sort of encouraged me to binge eat too, as you can save up your 15 daily 'syns' so I'd eat syn free food all week and stuff my face on a Friday night, eating all 105 in one go! Depends what sort of eater you are!

Your day sounds good so far. I had porridge for breakfast, I'm still undecided on lunch. I'm off work and it's food shop day so I'll pick something up there when I make my mind up...Smile

SmilingandWaving · 26/03/2015 12:48

I think I'd definitely be with you on Friday night binge! I can't see how I'd lose any weight with unlimited pasta either!

Healthy is probably the best way to go isn't it, slow & steady and all that! Trouble is I want instant results, like Jumble said earlier in the thread I have a couple of good days & do a bit of exercise and I feel like I should have at least dropped a stone Grin

I might have porridge for lunch now you've said that. I feel like something warm & reasonably stodgy!

Avoid the biscuit aisle if you're shopping hungry! That's usually my downfall, well one of many anyway!

OP posts:
Testarossa1 · 26/03/2015 14:23

Smiling, I had to google what NSV meant, "non scale victory" a phrase I like Smile it is nice to be seeing results of eating healthy!

I'd never lose anything with unlimited pasta either, I can eat the most enormous portions anyway, so being allowed as much as liked I'd end up piling even more on the plate!

Think one of the main things I have found has been good is cutting back on bread, which has been hard as I love nothing more than fresh white bread, toasted and slathered with butter and marmite or a nice cheese sandwich Grin but using the ryvita plain cracker/crisp bread has been a good substitute for sandwiches at lunchtime, they are actually pretty nice too. I save the toast for a weekend treat now!

Jumblebee · 26/03/2015 15:34

I did slimming world and lost 1.5 stone on it, but my heart wasn't really in it. I think if my head had been in the right frame of mind I could have continued happily.

Like a pp mentioned though, I found it a bit worrying that they push a lot of the low fat and "diet foods" on you as free foods, like low fat yogurt and diet coke. I used to have low fat everything and although it worked for me and I lost 4 stone (this was pre-baby and pre-slimming world) I wasn't as clued up about sweeteners now she says whilst nursing a coffee with 2 sweeteners I need up cut sweetener out all together by doing it gradually, I haven't done it yet. I've been good at cutting down on milky coffees and drinks but that's because I was drinking at least 4 a day and couldn't stomach them anymore!

Anyway, once again I'm going on a tangent and writing an essay Confused I had a jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn for lunch. Quite proud of myself that I went for a healthy option Smile small victories!

seekingthesun · 26/03/2015 16:19

I'm theforgery on MFP. Would love any friends on there, I always feel a bit more motivated when I'm not alone on the site Smile

StayGoldPonyBoy · 26/03/2015 18:08

Added you seekingSmile

Does anyone else use instagram as a food diary? I find this really helpful and I like being nosy and seeing what everyone else is eating!

Lunch ended up being rotisserie chicken, skin taken off for me, with salad and a bit of artisan bread.

For dinner I'm working on a curry as we speak, sauce was from Aldi and it smells really good. Dinner times will be the biggest test for me as I'm so used to polishing off DDs manky left overs. I struggle with seeing food go to waste. Child of a 'clean plate' household here, and it's such a hard state of mind to break.

Testarossa1 · 26/03/2015 19:45

Added you seeking and gold pony! Jumble do I have you on mfp?
