no need to ever wash your baby's face, just wait until she pulls off and gets squirted, rub it in, et voila!

Love this thread. Echo all here, esp re the cakes. Would add seeing DD1 "breastfeeding" her doll, and cuddling up with DD2 these cold darks nights for a lovely lying down feed, soooooooooo cosy.

havingagiraffe · 10/11/2009 20:24

Listening to your formula feeding friends tell you they are going to the gym 3 times a week as you tuck into yet another slice of cake and casually mention that you are slimmer that before you got pg.

Oh and being able to watch TV in the day. I was only hankering after those newborn days (DS 7mo) when all i did was feed, watch TV, let DS fall asleep in my arms and get a cuppa and something to eat every time he needed feeding.

MadAboutTheBoys · 10/11/2009 20:44

Oh and watching TV while DH cooks because I need to rest and make milk...

rachels103 · 10/11/2009 20:47

Ds1 giving BF advice is pretty funny...

"I think he(ds2)'s had enough now, so tidy those boobies away mummy."

Flamebat · 10/11/2009 21:33

Chrysanthamum - practise feeding laying down during the day. once you have the position sussed, you just latch them on like that in the night, and doze off again. After a few nights they sort of rummage around by themselves (if you're co-sleeping) and latch on without bothering with the whole waking you thing

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 10/11/2009 21:46

mmm homemade apple & berry crumble and custard !

Cake and custard !

The happiest, intoxicated baby falling off the nipple with a windy little smile....

My dd - 3.5 weeks - has never managed to latch on properly on the first attempt - she's now perfected the skill of grabbing just the nipple in her lips and, with the cutest twitch of her nose, she manages to latch on so perfectly that we haven't had a single sore nip yet !

lizmcfizz · 10/11/2009 21:54

The weight just falls off!!! (My theory only but now after 2 kids) Especially reaching 4, 5, 6 months! Ditto skinnier than before PG! BARGAIN!!!!!!

mafog · 10/11/2009 21:56

That rather lovely feeling when you're a bit engorged and they wake to feed and you can just go 'agggghh' whne they gobble it down quickly and take that pressure off.

And when you look at them and think apart from 1 tiny cell- I did that.

Cake.

TBMOM · 10/11/2009 22:19

Not trivial but feels so good..Getting a stinker of a cold then realising that it has passed your baby by. Why? Because of the immunity you have handed over whilst you fed them.

fustilarian · 10/11/2009 22:37

Amusing oneself by shocking the bourgeoisie (who are all out having a lovely sunday lunch) by producing two squawking infants, suddenly stripping half naked and then feeding them both whilst being spoon fed roast beef by DP.

Then looking round the room and smiling at them all, thinking, 'there was a time when I wouldn't have particularly fancied having a roomful of people staring agog at my bosom, but I am breastfeeding twins, so I just don't give a damn'.

catastrojb · 10/11/2009 22:38

...the way dd pats my face when she's feeding, so cute when she has her night-time scratch mitts on.

oh, and dd agrees with cake (she helped herself to mine as i crossed the cafe...!)

MrsSantosisbored · 10/11/2009 23:44

Because

the weight dropped off (twas the toddler that stopped me eating all the cake)

It was the easy way to keep the baby quiet while spending "quality time" with aforementioned mini terrorist toddler

It was cheap (couple of nursing bras and one tube of Lansinoh)

Whatever other cock ups occur along the way with my parenting at least I tick one box

Jacksmama · 11/11/2009 00:00

Bravo @ fustilarian - that's fab!!

PMSL @ "shocking the bourgeoisie"

Seeing MIL's face when i said "the good thing about breastfeeding is that crumbs just look like cradle cap".

But only if it's plain cake/biscuits. Chocolate cake crumbs makes him look grubby.

aquavit · 11/11/2009 09:58

trivial reason: was given a very gorgeous jacket from Jigsaw by lovely dh for making it to 6 months

nontrivial reason: made up my first bottle of formula the other day, had no idea it was so much faffing about

trivial reason to occasionally feel fed up with breastfeeding: MIL v enthusiastic breastfeeder herself and insists on watching closely

mawbroon · 11/11/2009 10:20

Because it's possible to breastfeed and go to the toilet at the same time.

Multi tasking or what?

TigerFeet · 11/11/2009 11:32
Bettymum · 11/11/2009 11:34

I am most proud of breastfeeding and making risotto at the same time .

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2009 11:59

never managed to go to the loo while feeding!
Lol at staining with beetroot, hope you weren't seeing the HV that week - or you might find your dd developed a port wine stain that week

foxytocin · 11/11/2009 12:00

get baby snot all over your booby.

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2009 12:02

is that a good thing?
Actually it is if they've been really snuffly, as DD has been for the last day or so - I felt so relieved on her behalf when she sneezed and it flew out!

foxytocin · 11/11/2009 12:06

dunno but when they are poorly, as long as they are feeding, they will be all right. it is a baby that isn't feeding you ahve to worry about.

further down about the immunity thing. I am home right now with the wretched pig flu. DDs 1 and 2 are happy little campers. I am wondering if my immunities have spared them my grief.

StealthPolarBear · 11/11/2009 12:10

oh no hope you're better soon, not nice trying to look after them when ill.
Yes, feeding through the D&V bugs T had kept me sane! He's had another one in the last few days & stupidly i stopped feeding him Was worried at 2 1/2 he wouldn't go back to it, but he had a good long feed this morning so no worries there LAst feed before that was Saturday morning

Poledra · 11/11/2009 12:12

Having DD2 yell at the top of her voice in a cafe 'Mummy! DD3 is hungry! Get choor boobies out!'

Thanks for that one, DH!

foxytocin · 11/11/2009 12:16

watching dd1 breastfeed her 3 foot long stuffed ikea shark.
