Anyone interested in an 'extended' bfers support thread?

Not sure what I mean by 'extended' exactly - maybe it's a self defined thing?

I define myself as an 'extended' bfer because I hardly know anyone else bfing a child as old as mine (DD is 26 months) and feel the need to discuss some issues with people also doing this and wonder if anyone else does??

Anyone up for an informal support thread on this?

Thanks for the heads up!

I just wondered how old is the oldest breastfed child on here? Has anyone breastfed past 4 and a half?

Mawbroon was the longest on this thread, I think, but she is on an extended break from MN. Her DS is 5 next week and he has said that he's giving up on his birthday. Are you after the crown nappyaddict? Grin

WoTmania · 13/10/2010 20:23

on this thread or generally on MN? Greenmonkies was (is?) still BF her 6 yo iirc

PumpkinLightsForever · 13/10/2010 22:23

Oh wow, DD is three and a half, I'm hoping she doesn't want to go on for that long Shock

organiccarrotcake · 13/10/2010 22:32

I fed DS1 until he was 15 months (he self weaned but I'd dropped him down to 1 or 2/day by that point) so it's sort of EBF. He's now 6 and recently asked for it but only coz he saw his new brother doing it!

DS2 will BF for as much as he wants, as long as he wants, as long as I can bear the comments (don't know if i will get any though - DH is fully supportive, and MIL seems to be - my parents are going to read "The Politics of Breastfeeding" which I hope will give them the info they need to support me.

Sorry meant to say in public. I don't bf anymore but my friend is feeding a 3 year old. She doesn't know anyone who still fed in public after 3 and is thinking she should maybe start introducing the idea that when they have their 4th birthday, big grown up children only need to have feeds at home now.

WoTmania · 14/10/2010 15:34

I still occasionally BF DS2 (3.4) in public. Not often but sometimes it is a lot more conspicuous not to than to just plug him on.
OFten though I'll prime him by saying there might be people wo aren't comfortable with him nursing and if he asks just repeat. Usually wroks.
