Is the GMTV breastfeeding piece going to be shown on Wednesday?

I had heard a rumour it was, but it isn't in their "what's on" listings.

However, I did find this on their website today, which seems to be a little more balanced in terms of debate. Perhaps it is hoping to do the piece without warning us [cloak and dagger emoticon]

Dr Hillary's comments will make you want to flick his silly head though.

You have been warned.

"The bonding process is over"

WTF??????????

hunkermunker · 06/02/2008 00:53

"What is the correct age to stop breastfeeding your child? Or should mothers not be subjected to an age limit?"

What a telling way of wording the question.

Isn't it babies who are subject to the age limit? I guess not, when you believe it's "only done for the mother's benefit"

verylittlecarrot · 06/02/2008 00:54

I tried to warn you.

As for Dr Hilary Jones - can you imagine the words I'm avoiding using about this man?

No, ruder than that.

verylittlecarrot · 06/02/2008 01:05

yup

just re-read his second paragraph. Do you think his wife breastfed? For more than a year? He seems a little, er, frustrated...

Just a theory.

I have sent a reply and I cannot explain the wrath I have over this man's comments! I'm currently feeding aged 12.5 months and don't actually consider this extended!

mehdismummy · 06/02/2008 01:12

how can anyone take that plastic eighties has been doctor seriously? Is he actually qualified or is he just a big old prick? Wtf is he talking about what is bizarre about feeding your own child? Obviously god have women boobies so prickless tossers like him can look at them. Lets phone gmtv on mass and complain about gerbil face

1dilemma · 06/02/2008 01:15

crazy opinion read most of the comments from organisations below and they all seemed to disagree!

chipmonkey · 06/02/2008 01:31

Oh, the bonding process is over!!!! Why did no-one tell me! I've been keeping these kids under my roof, one of them for eleven years and now I find out I could have kicked them out at one!

kiskidee · 06/02/2008 06:17

it is still supposed to be on in the 8.35 - 9.25 slot

FairyMum · 06/02/2008 06:53

I am appalled by his commenys. How bloody dare he label any woman bizarre for b/f over one? Silly man

essexgirl31 · 06/02/2008 07:55

It's is going to be on today!

I'm only 6 months in but intend on carrying on BF.

Deep breaths...

BabiesEverywhere · 06/02/2008 08:00

Ermm, if breastfeeding mums can't have sex, how come I am pregnant again and still breastfeeding !?!

No one told me that if I am nursing for a couple hours a day, that my breasts are off limits for the other 22 hours !!!

Grrr. Glad to read the LLL and NCT comments on the bottom.

boomie · 06/02/2008 08:02

Apparently it is on at 8:35am...

i'd like to do more that flick dr hilary's head. what is he on about children developing sexual feelings and inappropriate behaviour among mothers. YUCK he is a pervert.

franke · 06/02/2008 08:15

Amongst all the informed and measured statements in that link, Dr H comes a cross as completely bonkers. I'd like to know on what research he bases his bizarre assertions. Sadly, I doubt our Lorraine will be asking him to justify himself.

MesaLoca · 06/02/2008 08:16

If a doctor issues advice that goes against clear guidance can it not be reported to the BMA or something?

fishie · 06/02/2008 08:19

oh i managed to comment mesaloca, try again. i'm sure they'd love to hear from us.

i did consider whether dr hillary was being used to put the opposing view (can't think they'd find anyone else to do it). but his ideas are so repulsive that i now think he is behind this whole 'story'.

FairyMum · 06/02/2008 08:21

Dr. Hilary apparently has an advice column in NOTW. Perhaps he was really busy and asked one of the NOTW readers to write bf-advice for the GMTV website?
