I'm being made to feel inferior because I want to formula feed my baby, how do I carry on with this? I'm being made to feel bad because of my choices. Sad

Totally unacceptable for anybody to pressurise and try and dictate what other women do and don't do with their own breasts in my book.

LinksofParis · 07/02/2017 12:21

hahahahaha Perties, pull the other one Grin this thread has become quite comical. Wink

Has anyone recently read The Troll by J. Donaldson? This thread reminded me of that story for some strange reason. Wink

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/02/2017 12:27

LOL@ totally unacceptableGrin

LinksofParis · 07/02/2017 12:31

"Once you become a mother, it's your babies needs first and foremost." Not really. If a mother doesn't take care of her own needs as well she will not be able to do her job terribly well at least not in the long term. That's why passengers on aeroplanes are told to first sort themselves out in case of an in-flight emergency and only when they are safe help their dc with oxygen masks.

mainlywingingit · 07/02/2017 12:35

Links that Is so funny you compare an emergency flight and putting your mask on to just trying to breastfeed. Just trying. Just once. That's all.

NuclearSwan · 07/02/2017 12:38

I was FF as a baby and I'm dead now. Mainly speaks truth.

NuclearSwan Grin

These preachy pro-breast feeding fanatics make me happier than ever before that I'm going to be exclusively FF. I would hate to be anything like them and having such a nauseatingly judgmental attitude would probably do my baby untold damage. They'd grow up to be a self righteous prick too.

Only1scoop · 07/02/2017 12:51

Good analogy

mainlywingingit · 07/02/2017 12:55

Needless to say breastfeeding improves IQ Wink there is enough evidence right here.

Just feel sorry for the babies. Over and out!
*back to my smug life then Grin

FearTheLiving · 07/02/2017 12:57

I take it you weren't breast fed then Mainly?

welshweasel · 07/02/2017 13:07

It's impossible to conclude that BF directly increases IQ from any of the studies done. There are way too many confounding factors to draw meaningful conclusions.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/02/2017 13:08

I became a mother not a martyr Hmm

Pertie · 07/02/2017 13:12

But the mother gets to dictate what happens to the baby's body? What about their rights to have the best nutrition?

Seeing as we're all about the analogies...

Your baby is poorly - chest infection. You go to the doctors, they want to prescribe you antibiotics. They give you two choices - Brand A is established as the most effective for getting your baby better, Brand B is perfectly adequate, but trials have shown it to be less effective.

Both may have side effects, or both may have none. You're not going to know until you start taking them.

Who in their right mind is going to chose Brand B?

There are many grey areas of parenting but when it comes to BF, it's very black and white.

Undoubtedly people struggle and the poor continuation rates are an altogether different matter.

But there really is no excuse for not attempting it.

Only1scoop · 07/02/2017 13:14

Main I can see that....

kel1234 · 07/02/2017 13:26

Pertie- maybe some mums, myself included simply don't want to attempt it. And what is wrong with that?
Yes I was fully aware of the benefits, but still I chose to do what I felt was best for me personally, and that was choosing not to try it. I won't apologise for doing what I felt was best for me and my baby.

wispagold1234 · 07/02/2017 13:27

Pertie but it's not yours or anybody else's business why a woman might not try. Why do you get to decide what is excusable? Hmm

elQuintoConyo · 07/02/2017 13:34

You go ahead and exclusively ff OP

Practise your Paddington Bear stare and repeat 'it's none of your business' in a mirror.

No, he is healthy, he's thrived from being a preemie to a hulking great 6ft 2 strong as an ox teen.

likeacrow · 07/02/2017 14:04

Pertie preaching to others about what they do with their breasts, in my books, makes you a bit of a shit. Comparing FF to physical and emotional abuse, in my books, makes you a lot of a shit.
mainly I was breastfed. I am choosing to FF. Your IQ point makes fuck all sense.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/02/2017 14:04

Thanks for deleting HQ, that was probably one of the most offensive things I've read on MN!

likeacrow · 07/02/2017 14:07

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen I agree. I'd love to meet this person irl. It's easy to be so insulting and judgmental from the anonymous safety of the internet.
