I'm being made to feel inferior because I want to formula feed my baby, how do I carry on with this? I'm being made to feel bad because of my choices. Sad

I could have written this entire thread myself, it's so predictable.

Of course not Mini. The phrase "lighting the fuse and running" comes to mind.

tiktok · 10/02/2017 17:14

Chelazla, I think posters and stickers like that are awful, but they really, really don't say 'literally' you are substandard as a mother. Honestly.

Pertie · 10/02/2017 17:16

Why?

Blossomdeary · 10/02/2017 17:18

The facts support BF as being the best for the child.

I was unable to feed my first (she just refused to suck) and had to FF (off a spoon to start with - drove me nuts). The others were BF - it was a no-brainer for me - apart from the health benefits to the baby, I did not have to faff about with sterilizing, making up feeds, warming them and all the palaver that goes with taking a FF baby out and about. Much easier to just whip out a tit.

I am sure you have your reasons - but it is hard to imagine what they might be.

tiktok · 10/02/2017 17:23

Petrie, was that to me?

AyeAmarok · 10/02/2017 17:31

All these substandard parents who lives in cities like London where there is so much pollution, contaminating their child's lungs and causing asthma. Not putting their child first by even trying rural living. Really makes me question their parenting abilities.

Then using the NHS with their DC's breathing difficulties and taking up resources that me or my DC might need.

Confused

See, ridiculous.

likeacrow · 10/02/2017 18:49

Pertie your self-righteous, judgemental attitude will no doubt have an affect on how your children turn out, which may directly or indirectly affect my children. Therefore I have a right to judge you. Just using your "logic".

Pertie · 10/02/2017 19:01

Everyone judges. Making judgements is not a bad thing.

And I am happy to admit that in this situation, I see no reason, medical issues aside, to be a good enough excuse to not try breastfeeding.

That's my opinion, i accept it's not others. I can't make anybody try but I won't deny that I think they made a bad decision on behalf of their child.

raindripsonruses · 10/02/2017 20:06

Oh, lawd!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/02/2017 21:14

Your child will have an influence on my childrens life either direct or indirectly

That's one of the funniest things I've read on MN in a long timeGrin

minifingerz · 10/02/2017 22:46

"Your child will have an influence on my childrens life either direct or indirectly"

No - the only person who is affected by the OP's decision is her child, and as long as they stay silent on the subject then nobody else has a right to claim an interest.

kel1234 · 13/02/2017 12:01

Oh Pertie- you're annoying and boring me now. Not trying it not a bad decision. Doing something you're not comfortable with is a bad decision.
However let's agree to disagree and accept that we both have different views on this subject, and move on..

Thingiebob · 13/02/2017 13:10

Clearly Pertie doesn't believe in a women right to bodily autonomy.

tiktok · 13/02/2017 13:42

Thingie, I think that's right.....she doesn't. Of course she can have that opinion, but she's out of step with most people, most women, these days.

The only people I have ever come across who think women should breastfeed are the occasional posters on mumsnet. I have been around active breastfeeding supporters for years and years, and none of us think that. The woman's own right to use her body as she prefers is paramount. To say that all women should breastfeed and (somehow) be forced into it against their will is the same as saying all women should have sex, or have babies, or wear/not wear a bra :) :)
