A nice shiny new thread!

OP posts:
Emilythornesbff · 30/04/2013 23:25

That's great babybeesmama

Here we're at transfer fail central. I literally haven't closed my eyes.
Retreated to spare room with babythorne and left dh snoring loudly.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 30/04/2013 23:39

Ladies I think I'm not exactly graduating but sort of bowing out of the thread... BabyG seems to have settled into a pattern of intensive cluster feeds and being angry, before falling asleep. So I'm either using two hands sometimes four to calm and feed her, or she's asleep at which point DH and I race each other to sleep. And either way I'm not managing to read or post!

Hope all your LOs sleep better soon

Emilythornesbff · 30/04/2013 23:57

Hi giraffe thanks for the sleepy dust.
Poor babythorne cannot settle. Starts to feed - drifts off- Lays down - cries - back to feed.
I'm fasting (5:2) and I can say without question that going without food is a thousand times easier than going without sleep.

Giraffe, I knw what you mean about those sort of night.
Have a good one
Em

SoYo · 01/05/2013 00:54

Em that's a crappy start to the night, hope its improved.

Giraffe, hope things settle down for you.

MiniYo is up a couple of hours earlier than normal which means a whole extra hour up overnight at least & at least 3 feeds before 6am which bodes very badly for my ability to cope tomorrow. Surely my fault for having a very full day planned!

See you all in a couple of hours!

larlemucker · 01/05/2013 04:14

Congrats on the graduation giraffe

We're on our second feed, vast improvement on last night. Baby larle went to bed at 8, woke once about 5 mins after transfer but rocked back to sleep. Then fed at 11.30 and now.

I'll be quite happy if he keeps this up, I can live like this!!

emily are you breast feeding? If so are you sure it's a good idea to fast?

Anypants · 01/05/2013 04:29

Em that sounds rubbish - hope you managed to get your LO down earlier. soyo are you having a better night? It's all a bit quiet on here... I hope that means you're all snoozing happily snd not just so tired you can't type anymore!
1st feed since I got DD to sleep at about 9.30. Can't help thinking i'm doing something wrong though. When she goes to sleep at night now, she's out for a decent chunk - yay! But it's gettimg her to sleep in the first place - one big screaming/crying match for about an hour each time. I feed, then.bath, then story, then feed again by which time she's sleepy but awake and then simply refuses to close her eyes. I'm not certain I cam 'teach' her to fall asleep without rocking/cuddling/swaying/praying (and sometimes muttering obscenities in a 'i don't understand why you won't **ing sleep' kinda way) which are all frowned upon as bad habits. Sad
She fights me during the day too when it's nap time and I don't want her to sleep on me. Grrr. Going to have to find a new solution as the shh/pat method isn't doing it for me Envy
Who'd like a choccy bourbon? Biscuit

lazzaroo · 01/05/2013 05:45

Hi all. Sounds like a mixed night last night.

any pants sorry I can't recall how old your little one is, but it sounds like she might be overtired. Like she's struggling to switch off? Maybe try settling her earlier?

Although why take advice from me?? Our nights seem to be getting worse. It may be the dreaded 4 month sleep regression but we fed at 7pm. Settled in cot. Woke at 9.45pm, wouldn't settle without a feed & wouldn't go back in cot. Fed at 12.30, 1.30, 2.40, 4 and 5. And is waking at 5.20 pn the dot....every morning!

I probably need to start trying to settle without feeding more often but it's a viscious circle when I'm so tired and here without DH. Boob is the quickest and easiest solution. He's home tonight so maybe I'll get some sleep!

MrsNPattz · 01/05/2013 05:53

Morning, well my night off turned out differently - ended up co sleeping because little man woke after an hour of being asleep and was really upset and I wanted us all to get some sleep. Which we did - he slept 10-now!! Just feeding him before I leave.

Congratulations on the better nights Tea and Giraffe. Hope everyone else is catching up on some zzzzzzzzs!

SoYo · 01/05/2013 06:18

Oh my word Lazza, you win! I'm dreading 4 months.

Well done MrsN!

We did bed at 9.30, fed 12.40-1.20, 3.45-4.30, 5.45-still going strong.

I've tried putting her up to bed at 7ish but she just isn't ready yet I don't think. Lots of screaming, less sleep for all overnight & just too stressful. I also can't get her to nap without feeding to sleep but at the moment I'm just doing what works & I'll worry about it later!

MrsNPattz · 01/05/2013 06:22

So little man chooses this morning to do a spectacular spew everywhere! Luckily I don't have to change but will probably stink of baby sick all day Blush

abi2790 · 01/05/2013 06:26

Morning all. Hope all the bad nights improve soon Brew. Glad you got some sleep MrsN. Our night improved too. Ds slept from 10 until half 5. He wasn't even going to wake up until my hay fever started playing up and my snotty nose woke him up lol. I hope he goes back to sleep for an hour or two so we're not too tired for Baby Splash.

Emilythornesbff · 01/05/2013 06:52

Hi. We had a cople of feeds I think and a maybe a cople of 2-3 hr stretches so not that bad after a shaky start. Poor babythorne had her second jabs yesterday so may well have been unsettled because of that?!
larle that sounds like real progress, well done. I think the fasting should be ok. In theory my supply won't be affected and doesn't see to be. Plus, I know it sounds odd but it's actually quite enjoyable. I'll keep an eye on it though and of course I'm drinking lots of herbal tea / broth on fasting days and still taking my vitamins.

any I'm in no position to give advie Grin as I think anything to be to through the night is fine tbh. Ds was a shocking sleeper, I've always soothed him to sleep but he sleeps through well now on the whole and he's a vy happy little boy.

lazza you poor thing. Don't worry, it's early days yeah?

Great night mrsn
Sorry if I've missed anything dd getting fidgety.
Have a good day everyone.

GoatBongosAnonymous · 01/05/2013 07:07

Sorry to hear of bad nights. Hope there is some sleep out there making its way to you all.
Congratulations tea ! Hooray for sleeping through at 1 year, this gives me hope...
mrsn have a great first workshop. I went to work last Friday not noticing that I had baby snot all down one arm of my nice posh clothes... Everyone was too polite to tell me! except the mum who was experiencing fellow feeling
amey fingers crossed on the improvement! BG is much better thanks, back to attempting to destroy the house Grin unfortunately there is a corresponding return to fairly crap nights but hey, they are still better than they were two months ago.
Someone mentioned bad habits re getting them to sleep. (Sorry can't scroll). Have you ever noticed that this sage advice is always given by people who are not sleep deprived?... Hmm at the moment I count any sleep a success!
Oh got to go. BG is trying to climb his jungle gym playmat. For the nth time - still hasn't figured out that it doesn't work!

Anypants · 01/05/2013 10:03

I think you're right goat and the fact that she's sleeping regardless of how she gets there is good! I'll put up with the crying and rocking until I find words of wisdom from somewhere else (or until it all changes again in, like, a month or so!) DD is now 9 weeks Shock

funchum8am · 01/05/2013 19:15

Hi all, sorry to heat of stingy eyes and bad nights. I think it is time to graduate too, as we are generally woken once around 3:30 to 4am briefly (no feed required) and DH deals with that, and then up sometime after 6 nowadays. She has just decided to sleep more and all the babies on here will too one day!

Mersin you will be a fantastic bfing counsellor and we leader an do hope the training went well!

I will still check in and say hi from time to time, hope that is ok Wink

MrsNPattz · 01/05/2013 19:52

Hey guys, just checking in on the train. Have had a great time (never thought I could say that about work!!) and met some lovely people but I'm absolutely shattered! Having to glamorously express down various toilets has been great fun Blush but I survived without my little man, cannot wait to see him!!!

Sorry (but pleased for you) to hear you are graduating Funch - but yes, please do come back from time to time!

abi2790 · 01/05/2013 20:54

Glad you had a great day MrsN. I've had the worst migraine ever today. I think it's cos of my hay fever Sad. Ds is asleep now though so time to relax and try to get an early night!

larlemucker · 01/05/2013 21:19

any baby larle is exactly the same. He is either fed or rocked to sleep, occasionally goes to sleep in pram, and when you put him in your arms to rock to sleep he wails cos he knows what's coming!! He hates going to sleep, scared he is going to miss out on something I think! He has managed to fall asleep on his own on 3 occasions!!
I am if the thought that whatever gets him to sleep (within reason, I'm not going to drug him or owt!!) as someone said on another thread, you don't see any 21 year olds who have to be rocked to sleep!

We've been to see iron man 3 this eve so Arthur has been at his nanas, he was a very good boy apparently!!

Sleepy dust to all

Emilythornesbff · 01/05/2013 21:34

Babythorne is asleep, bless her little cotton socks. In her cot - I kid you not.
mrsn good to near you've had such a good day.
Congratulations to funch on your "graduation".
Goodnight all. sleep feed well Smile

larlemucker · 01/05/2013 21:39

Forgot to say congrats to funch, make sure you piping now and then as we'll miss you.

MrsN glad you had a good day and managed not to burst while you we're away from LO

MissingMyMarbles · 01/05/2013 21:51

Hello there

Another one bowing out here. Sadly, not because I am graduating not sure I ever will Hmm, but now I am back at work and working a lot of night shifts and being up with Missmarbles at least twice between 7 and 7 when I'm not at work, I am just too knackered to catch up and post during the night. I do try and catch up a bit during the day but that's becoming harder too as Missmarbles is on the go the whole time and moves like greased lighteningGrin I hope sleep becomes less and less elusive for us all soon. I will try and look in from time to time. Thanks everyone, for keeping me awake during night feeds over the last few months.

larlemucker · 02/05/2013 00:17

On second feed already, does not bode well for the rest of the night

larlemucker · 02/05/2013 01:02

Up again Hmm

Came to bed at 10, had about 30 mins sleep so far. Think DS is teething

abi2790 · 02/05/2013 02:49

Good luck Missing! Come and speak to us in the day whenever you can.

First feed here. Thankfully my migraine has gone :). I hope ds goes back to sleep soon cos I'm knackered!

larlemucker · 02/05/2013 04:34

Rubbed ambesol on gums at 2 and baby larle just woke again.
So tiredHmm
