Just done second feed, she went from 1am to 5am. Dd1 was up at 4am so I ended up in her bed and fell asleep for an hour there. Sorry to hear of bad nights. Dd1 has a little winnie the pooh clock and since I put that in their room stitch has slept better. Wondering whether the ticking is acting like white noise. Got to remember to put batteries in stitch's lionheart bear, she likes the waves setting.

look out of interest, how do you manage the feed and transfer? Doesn't one wake the other when you are feedingputting down?

larle a pastry chef... Good planning!

stitch glad you got more from baby stitch. Maybe the ticking helps. Now to get dd1 to not wake so either!

Hopefully back to bed for a bit for me. Babybrain is very wriggle so not overly hopeful.

Second attempt at second feed after transfer fail.
brain great idea as I love cakes, unfortunately not good for my waist line or the bank account which is why he is an ex-pastry chef! (Where we live cheffing is crap money and very long hours)

Funch - did your night get any better?? Every hour :( you poor thing.

I can report no co-sleeping! Success! He went from 830pm-1130 in cot then had bottle then woke at 3 then now! Didn't really have to ssh pat, just laid him down with his snuggly and put ewan on! Feels good! Although could happily have another hour now if he concurs! X

larle perhaps there is a market for late night takeaway delivery cakes for mners?!

Congrats amey hope it continues.

Happily I think we've had the end of serious biting for a while. It's still there a bit but nothing like how it was. Such a relief!

I was up 3-4.15 due to multiple transfer fails, then she finally slept another hour and DH got up with her ay 5:15. He brought her back up at 6:30 as she had taken 1oz of a bottle but was crying and rooting so clearly after some boob, but I managed to get her to take a bit more bottle instead. Then she slept 7-7.20 then came in with me and fed while I dozed til 9. She is little milk bomb waiting to explode! So I have had bits more sleep but no decent stretch. Sadly that is a completely typical night for us . Am definitely getting going with ncss ideas today!

Girls' weekend coming up and that is keeping me going!

Not a bad night for us, he woke me again at 6:15 crying in his sleep but Ewan settled him and we slept until 8. Just been for a walk and popping to my friends this afternoon!

That's great Amey!

amey have you started ncss yet? I am keen to hear which bits anyone has tried. it is the baby book I most prefer the tone of so far, need to really seriously put it into practice now!

I've just started the sleep log funch, although last night id decided I wasn't co sleeping anyway (but as it turned out we had no transfer fails anyway!) I've given him a snuggle blanket for naps/bedtime like she says & he went to sleep by himself with it yesterday! I did the thing to lengthen naps yesterday too - Apart from that haven't got much further! X

Sooo tired! After a better night the night before, we were back to two hourly feeding last night. Today has been a tiredness induced struggle. Missmarbles slept for 20 mins this morning and 40 this afternoon, but it was on me this afty so I couldn't sleep. My head is throbbing as a result. DH is at a meeting tonight so I am just climbing into bed with a cup of tea and a digestive. Sorry not to name check, just so sleepy. I hope we all get good sleeps tonight.

amey I am slicing off to a girls' weekend tomorrow night to Sunday but Monday I will start sleep log could just use my moans on this thread actually and get on the case! I moved bedtime back to 7 from 8:30 as it feels cruel to keep her awake when she is so tired in the evenings...next step is tackle the feeding to sleep issue.

Report
funchum8am · 31/01/2013 20:46

am skiving off rather than slicing!

and best of luck amey with ncss strategies and everyone else, have lovely restful nights....off to bed now Grin

First feed. Still not been asleep as DD1 still not 100%, so been busy with her. Missmarbles didn't root right away when she woke, and fell straight back to sleep when I picked her up but 3 TF's resulted in a feed. It feels like she's taking a moderate amount so hopefully she will settle for a good stretch.

Just off up to bed now, had an amazing night so far but doubtless me saying that will have jinxed it from now on! Put her down in bedside crib at just after 7, fed but very awake, arms and legs going like the clappers. I was really late for my Thursday night slimming group so told DH to just rock her if needed for a bit as its only two minutes from home, I was only out 20 minutes but came back and she was sparko Shock

Had a few grumbles since but nothing requiring any action. I know now I'm going to bed that amazing sensor they seem to have will wake her as soon as I close my eyes!

Enjoy your weekend funch :)

Well done to babybee for sleeping in your cot. Glad you are feeling better Amey.

How did it go with the midwife look?

What a lot of cake larle!

Good to hear you are feeling more positive MrsN.

Sorry not to name check everyone, hope you are all okay.

Stitch has just gone to sleep for the first time tonight, as the builders woke her by drilling during her nap, so she ended up having another sleep late afternoon which has messed up her pattern. My typing arm is going to sleep.under her, time for transfer

stitch thanks, mw was good, still undecided about what best course of action is as we're on about 50% success with feeding directly from the boob, twin 1 is much better, but then it gets to nighttime and they both go kapput! And it's then when it's hardest for me too after being up all day. Just done bottles and expressing again. Not sure if just doing bottles is an option, means more work and expressing almost as often as I feed. I'm v confused now and just trying to get through each feed.

My poor DP he's had me blubbing on Wednesday night, helped loads last night and has only just got off to sleep after settling my dd, I on the other hand was asleep and he could hardly wake me!

Hmm third waking here and just feeding to attempt to get rid of her hiccups. She woke at 11:30 and 12:45 and 1:20....surely she can't wake so often all night? I have a lovely honking cough which isn't helping my mood Sad

heff I see the buggyfit class was just as tough as when I did it!! Girly weekend starts when DH gets home from work and I can take my lovely little car instead of the boring grey familymobile and hit the road! We are off to the Cotswolds. Really can't wait to catch up and of course get some unbroken sleep!

I hope babylump has her radar switched off tonight!

marbles I hope dd1 is ok

look I expressed every feed for 24 hours a while back to get babyfunch really solidly used to taking a bottle and it was quite hard work...tbh it wasn't so much the expressing as the constant washing and sterilising the damn kit. Do you have a really good pump? There is a thread for people who have done 100% ebm but I can't link on my phone - if you search in breast and bottle feeding you should find it. It was Dec or Jan when it started.

So much cake has landed in my absence! Larle we love you...

heff you should have just seen me hobble downstairs for Kid's bottle! An arthritic 97 year old would have beaten me to it.

look I don't have any suggestions but you have my absolute sympathy. Kid had real problems with the suck reflex and we ended up doing a mix of bf and expressing for 16 weeks. It is really really hard work. Do look after yourself as we'll as the boys.

funch have a wonderful weekend! Smile

Sorry not to name check everyone else. Kid has now finished so transfer time...

Hubby is off on a stag weekend to London in the morningSadso it's just me and little man this weekend. When I was feeling crap I asked mum if she would come up but she is away too, so I'm glad I'm feeling better!

I hope you have a great weekend Funch, what are your plans while you are there?

Look I hope things improve for you!

look you're doing an amazing job! If us with only one have crying meltdowns I certainly have then you are absolutely entitled to!

mrsn first feed... Hope the good start continues and that w/e goes well on your own.

funch have a great w/e. Sounds fab.

goat I hate how aggressively Samsung does word 'correction'. It insists on capitalising 'will' as if it were short for William every single time argh! Plus tries to change things to American spelling. It's 50:50 whether it actually saves me time.

After some weird early frequent waking, babybrain has just eaten loads so hoping for a nice long gap before he's up again ha, right

Funchum thanks, I've looked but can't find the thread at the moment I'll look in the day, unless you know what it's called. I've hired a hosp pump, because I was expressing in hosp and knew I'd need to continue for a while we made the decision to hire one, £45 a month but so much better than the Avent one I used for the first 3 days at home!

Thanks goat, yes bloody apostrophes everywhere except where they're needed. Did you carry on bf after 16 weeks?

Thanks mrsn and brain.

I tried to bf them both but twin 1 ended up nipple hanging and twin 2 was on a nipple shield and kept slipping. So I've been up since 3:30 feeding, if they bf if be done by now, if I'd just done bottles straight away I'd be done by now even with expressing. As it is I tried feeding for 30 mins, then did bottles now I'm pumping. I'm in the worst of all worlds. Don't know whether to just do bottles at night, but I'd still need to pump in the day, and I'm not sure I can do it all. Buggeration.

Report
Smallgreenone · 01/02/2013 06:00

look you are amazing! I would definitely do bottles at night and then maybe your oh could feed them whilst you pumped? I honestly don't know how you do it.
Baby small up two hourly. Feel like I've not slept. Am desperate for it motto be up time but I think he has other ideas. How can this be normal for a ff baby of over 5 months?
