not such good TV

Mum of twins did seem to be using nursing to pacify, and was offering rather than letting kids ask. Can't imagine up to 20 times per day!!

Why didn't she wean them off gradually, rather than making them go "cold turkey"? Much more humane/less stressful for all concerned, I would have thought.

hornbag · 01/02/2006 21:34

OMG -the twins mums boobs will be agony -going from 20 feeds a day each to ZERO!!!

She has made a rod for her own back by feeding so frequently. At that age surely they should never have needed to be fed that many times a day?

BonyM · 01/02/2006 21:35

Find twins' mum really annoying tbh.

RTKangaMummy · 01/02/2006 21:35

ooooooooh the 4 year old is too old imho and as for the 8 and 10 year olds that is sooooooooooo mega wrong IMHO

roosmum · 01/02/2006 21:35

yeah, ouch!!

it's bad enough when ds misses one feed...

hermykne · 01/02/2006 21:35

partners havig a bit - ah sorry thats just too much for me.

jesus its a bit extreme
breastfeeding mums will not get a fair public praising after this IMO and it ll be all sensaltionalised.

who was the author of it? and the reason why to do it

Nbg · 01/02/2006 21:35

Love the blackburn girl too. Really nice

RTKangaMummy · 01/02/2006 21:36

4 year old will be so jealous of new baby

Spidermama · 01/02/2006 21:37

roosmum granny may well have fed the little boiy because, apparently, once you've lactated you always can again, IF someone sucks for long enough. This is how wet nursing used to work.

roosmum · 01/02/2006 21:37

not when they sweetly tandem feed rtkm

tamum · 01/02/2006 21:37

I was going to post what BonyM just did- it's really hard on the twins to go cold turkey like that, and on the mother. I don't suppose they were getting huge amounts of nutrition from it but at 20 feeds a day it must have been such a big part of their lives

sweetkitty · 01/02/2006 21:37

very interesting so far I think

agree feeding hubbies just plain weird

would've taken a while tho SM, no?

RTKangaMummy · 01/02/2006 21:37

how do you get a 18 month old to START BF ???

wantedmyboobsback · 01/02/2006 21:37

if feeding is just a habit gradual weaning doesnt work eldest dd had a habit of waking 5 - 6 times a night asking for a drink of water found out nothing medically wrong and on drs advice went cold turkey and 3 nights of crying and she forgot about it had tried for months to wean her of it and wiht no luck she hadnt night fed since 10 weeks so nothing to do with missing that

tamum · 01/02/2006 21:37

Me too lockets.

Hulababy · 01/02/2006 21:38

Nbg - would think more of her Dh if we saw him up in the night helping comfort the little twins - they must be getting so many mixed messages, cuddling up to and smelling mummy's milk the whole time.

sweetkitty · 01/02/2006 21:38

think it will be interesting to see if the 18 mo adopted little girl will take to BFing

sweetkitty · 01/02/2006 21:39

my DD's 18 mo and is watching her week old sister BF with great interest she pokes my nipple and has had a few licks but thats it

Hulababy · 01/02/2006 21:39

RTKM - think it takes a while for relactation to occur - have to pump for a good few weeks (months?) in advance. Apparantly it is even possible to induce lactation, even if never had a baby before or if male, too

roosmum · 01/02/2006 21:39

adopted dd is SO sweet!
