beckyno news yet from random or kapers i hope they are ok!
dh i feel the same with really bad pain it was bad last night b4 bed, i cant imagine feeling like this for much longer!
a lady told me her mw told her half hour walk and a glass of red wine to start labour, i havent drank at all through pregnancy so i took a glass to bed hoping it would do nothing more than give me a good nights sleep, i slpet or 12 hours and didnt get up for toilet til 6!
im going to have a relaxing morning not doing much, my dog doesnt seem too well today he was sick on floor but dh told me to go back to bed and he sorted it, he was really good last night i sat here crying last night and he said your body is crying out for rest go and rest and brought my tablets up to bed for me!
this afternoon i may be visiting my friend with her 2 week old today
hope you all have good days and someone has a baby today

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/07/2010 10:29

vik my mw said its where the ligaments have relaxed and the 2 halves of the pelvis is rubbing together- ouch!

memphis I havent drank at all through preg either and I dont like red wine! I do regularly go walking though so Im half way there.

Yay, just hoovered the flat! Im soooo hot now though lol.

viksam · 02/07/2010 10:35

memphis I may take ur midwifes advice sounds good to me!! sleeping for 12 hours sounds amazing. Bless ur DH for loking after things.

Does anyone know if SMP is taxed, i have searched on the net and cant seem to get a straight answer, even on the goverment web site. I really hope not as it will make a big differance to the amount we take home and im quite worried about it. We are SKINT this month as we have payed the last bill from the work we had done, the plumbers bill was twice what i thought it would be, i had to do the 50's housewife thing and said 'i shall have to consult my husband about this' because if was so big. Its payed now but its a rubbish month to be strapped for cash.

viksam · 02/07/2010 10:38

DH OUCH indeed, thats sounds very painfull. Well done for Vacing the flat, did u clean ur bathroom in the end too?? I must go do my upstairs and make up the guest bed, quite happy sat here watching 'the wright stuff' though.

Emster30 · 02/07/2010 11:08

viksam I didn't have to wait, but she didn't measure me - just looked and asked what size I am in now. she said there'sno point trying nursing bras on now as my ribcage will go down and my cup size will go up. I got some 36DDs (currently in 38D/40DD depending on what;s in the wash) so hopefully they will fit!

Our local NCT is also struggling for volunteers - the person who organises the postnatal meetups has just had a baby herself so is a bit behind. Someone else who was PG was there yesterday and was volunteering to help - I thought she was about as pregnant as me but in fact she was only 24 weeks! Shows how different it is second time round...

Crap about your HV not showing up!

Congratulations to delta!

memphis83 · 02/07/2010 11:14

dh and viksam im not a red wine fan at all and had sour puss face while i drank a tiny glass but i know wine makes me sleep so it was worth it! i was apparently snoring! im always telling dh off but bless him he let me sleep, i did remind him i have a baby squishing everything!
well not going to see my friend after all her baby had a rough night, think the heat got to him! would you have a fan on in the room to keep air moving once baby is here? i dont have one but was thinking of getting one and not sure if you would have one on with baby, b4 he lays down any fat dont want him getting cold any ideas?

violetbubbles · 02/07/2010 11:26

Jojo - Frank is beautiful - well done!!! . I was pretty emotional on the second day. It was exhaustion more than anything else. I went from 5.30am on Saturday morning until 2.30am on Monday morning with NO SLEEP! But as soon as I managed to squeeze in 4 hours or so I felt a bit more normal. Being back home has improved my mood immensely as the whole time I was in hospital I was obsessed with getting out of there. I kept waking Iris during the night for feeds so that she would be nice and fat at her 60 hour weigh in and they'd let us go home. . Now, seven days in, I feel much more in control and at ease with Iris. I'm sure that once you get settled in at home you'll feel a million times better!

Sorry you're feeling down Stac - not long now until you'll be holding your little bundle of joy .

Just had a hilarious moment - I was just changing Iris and she decided to pee all over her changing mat, all over me and all over herself. She looked really pleased with herself too! .

Fingers crossed some more new babies arrive today! xx

kkfairybrains · 02/07/2010 11:36

i dont know memphis was actually wondering the same myself. dont know how i'l manage to sleep with no window open or no fan going!
mlic hope today is better for you.have you spoke to dh about the way he is towards ds? sounds like you could really do with a few hours to yourself.
becky glad your brownies perked you up! think these teary days must be quite normal at this stage because theres a few of us that seem to be like that.
well i woke up with a lovely stinking cold and sore raw burny throat this morn. typical! dp woke up with it too.i've been waking with the throat thing the last couple of mornings and i said to him yesterday that he didnt look well so thats what was wrong with us! going to have to get something today because i dont fancy starting off labour feeling crap already!
well today is my original due date! but they changed it til sunday so i'll wait til then to happy due date myself! it just doesnt feel real to me that im due this weekend! had a dream that i had a girl last night and i had her in the post office! and my friend had a dream that i had a boy called plank?!
are you getting out today stac?
dh thats sounds very painful.probably not the best idea in the world to be hoovering! i leave all that kind of stuff to dp and he's happy enough to do it.
wonder are you still around or do we have another baby?!
we've got 3 boys and a girl so far!
and if spireal is around to update the list with delta's baby cos i'll surely make a mess of it!

kkfairybrains · 02/07/2010 11:38

aw *violet thats so sweet! cant believe its a week already!

viksam · 02/07/2010 11:49

violet glad to hear ur feeling better and that ur feeling more in control. Hows it been with visitors, i cant decide what to tell people and they are starting to ask too. Whats everyone else doing re visitors, mine have a long way to come so its difficult to know what to say really. I think a few days on our own might be a good idea but then i dont want to make people feel unwanted. Its such unknown teretory isnt it.

Wonderstuff · 02/07/2010 12:01

Well I'm still here - had BH all afternoon yesterday, and lots of discharge (sorry tmi I know) and then 2 painful 'contractions' then back to BH, had a bath, they went. I did get the first decent nights sleep in ages, still feeling shattered though.

Congrats to Delta - coming in thick and fast now.

DH sorry you are feeling rubbish. Sounds painful.

kk hope the cold gets better soon, thats rubbish timing.

My house is a tip - was lovely yesterday! My daughter is like a little whirlwind. Should sort out some lunch really, and if I don't get some washing on I'll have nothing to wear tomorrow.. I'm not feeling motivated at all.

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/07/2010 12:02

vik no I havent got round to doing the bathroom yet, Im playing monopoly on the wii at the mo! Going to tackle it after lunch I think.

memphis I have a ceiling fan in the front room and bedroom which is so lovely in this heat but have woken up in the night slightly chilly so not sure how I will get round that one. Opening the windows isnt really an option as we live right on a busy main road junction and the traffic is very loud, esp annoying boy racers and emergency vehicles

violet I cant believe its been a week already, thats gone so fast!

kk yeah I might have to get DP to do it for the next week or so, it sounds silly but I feel its my job to keep the flat nice as he goes out to work 5 days a week its a suitable compromise, obv if I was working too it would be a different matter and he would def do his fair share of chores! He does help me out with things though and certainly would if I asked him. Hes good like that

Wonderstuff · 02/07/2010 12:03

Oh and viksam yes sadly maternity pay is subject to the same tax as other income - remeber that throwing me last time.. Reminds me must sort out the tax credits.

kkfairybrains · 02/07/2010 12:43

i know what you mean dh but its not forever.your coming to the end of your pregnancy now and your sore and stuff so he wont mind. i just like pottering about doing what i can do and leave the hoovering to him.and as you say he wont mind at all because you'll be back to doing it soon. just dont feel silly asking for help xx
thats a pity wonder hopefully now after your good nights sleep something will start!

NorkyButNice · 02/07/2010 12:47

Congrats delta - can't wait to see some pictures!

Frank looks gorgeous jojo - you must be so happy to have your little man here!

And violet - I can't believe it's a week since Iris arrived - got to be time for a few more babies to turn up hasn't it!

I went to the Maternity Day Assessment Unit this morning to check my BP and urine again after pre-eclampsia was suggested on Weds - had to go on the monitor for half an hour and all checks came back fine. Have to see midwife next week for usual checks but am desperately hoping to have gone by then!

Am making a chilli for tea tonight in the hopes that might persuade LO out!

memphis83 · 02/07/2010 13:03

dh i feel the sameabout keeping house clean, my dh works approx 60 hours a week and i feel that im at home so i make his pack up, tea and keep on top of cleaning, he is good though if i cant manage something, i was too tired to cook yesterday so we normally have friday lazy tea but we had it last night instead (pizza) and he did his pack up! only thing i cant do is clean kitchen doors and plinths i keep looking at them, he says he will do them obver weekend, it annoys me but think as its not priority he doesnt see it as needing to be done!
viksam im worried about visitors too, im so worried about it but think im just going to play it by ear, if it all gets too much im putting a stop on visits, ive set rules like you cant just come in and pick him up! im worried about pnd so feeling i need to be in control of situation if i seem rude im not bothered, dh says its our 2 weeks to bond and that comes 1st!

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/07/2010 13:18

kk yeah I know what you mean, he doesnt really mind if it doesnt get done, he doesnt even notice!

memphis lol we have friday lazy tea aswell, usually pizza! Its also the same here but with the kitchen floor, I usually just use a j-cloth and get down on my hands and knees to do it but thats impossible at the mo, he says he will do it but always "forgets" lol.

Ive got such swollen feet today, they've steadily been getting worse but they feel very tight today. Have been sitting on the sofa with them in cold water, using LO's baby bath as its just the right shape lol.

violetbubbles · 02/07/2010 15:12

Viksam - Visitors has been the thing I have struggled with most. It's difficult because you don't want to be selfish as everyone is just excited to see the new baby...I had lots of visitors at the hospital, which I found a little bit stressful as I was trying to establish breastfeeding. And we've had lots since arriving home on Tuesday. Yesterday we decided to put a stop to it for a few days because Iris was getting passed about too much and I could just tell that it was all too much for her. So, after the visitors left last night we told all family and friends that we would like the weekend to ourselves so that we can enjoy being new parents.

Got to put Iris first in all of this and she was getting over stimulated and too hot with all of the cuddles. I think visitors in the first few days is inevitable but you have to be strong enough to know when to say enough is enough. We're looking forward to spending some relaxed, quality time with Iris over the weekend...and bonding as a wee family unit .

Gracie123 · 02/07/2010 16:22

We had a bit of a funny one with DS as we had just moved to the area and didn't want to tell people to not visit, as it would make us seem antisocial and we didn't know if they would continue to be friendly IYSWIM.

So a lot of my friends now are people I was introduced to for the first time whilst lying on a sofa with DS about 1-2 weeks old.

Not something I would ordinarily choose, but will have to go through the same thing again because we are moving days before baby comes again!

Wierdest bit was parents of kids that DH was teaching just rocking up to the front door (living on site there is no escape!!) but they usually came bearing gifts, and tbh they have been a valuable source of all baby equipment and clothes so far!

randomama · 02/07/2010 17:45
