viksam sounds like we are in the same boat. My contractions are like killer period pain, really sharp and they build up then gradually fade out. Second stage labour is exactly like having a massive poo

Hope it goes well tomorrow tsc

My induction is booked for 31st!! I'm a wreck now, goodness knows what state I'll be in if it drags out that long - not to mention how stressed dd and dh will be. Is dh's birthday on Sunday - wonder if he's destined to share his birthday?

Is lovely to have dd around today, she is a fab distraction. Missed her soo much last night.

Chulita · 22/07/2010 11:59

memphis wrt nappies you just have to keep trying different brands til you find one that fits your LO. If he's always leaking you might find it better to use terry nappies til his legs chubb up a bit. We found Pampers worked best for DD but moved onto cloth at 6 weeks anyway. Sorry I can't be more help, the first few weeks are just full of wet wee'd on clothes though!

If sod's law exists I'll go into labour tonight - DH and I are planning on going to the cinema for the first time in over 2 years. We're sooooooo looking forward to it that I'm almost scared it might bring something on

viksam how exciting!! Im very though fyi, its usually 48hours they will be prepared to leave you after waters gone, although some hospitals restrict that to 24, be interested to hear what yeovils policy on it is. hope you dont need to worry about that and everything progresses over the course of today! keep mobile, hydrated and good luck xx

will have to reschedule mondays appt as I have no childcare and no transport(dp doesnt drive) so Im utterly stuck!! will have to ring round a few more family/friends and see if anyone can do tuesday/wednesday instead. whats the betting I ring the hospital and arrange to go in tue/wed, then end up in labour mon anyway!?! sods law and no one to look after the dcs! ahhh

Got some very good news here after weeks of waiting, just got a letter to say I will get maximum maternity allowance and that the arrears will arrive in our account in the next 6 days!! result, thats such a lot of stress off my mind!!

kkfairybrains · 22/07/2010 13:33

good luck to everyone getting contractions and breaking waters and stuff! so exciting! we should have a burst of babies in the nexxt day or 2!
not much news here. stil quite teary when i get to the evening time.its bloody hard work keeping everything going since dp went back to work. ellie starting to fuss a little bit at feeds and finding it very hard to get her wind up and sometimes nothing will come up and she'l do loads of farts when we pick her up for the next feed. any tips on getting it up? on the upside she's going 5 or 5 and a half hours between feeds at nightime. sometimes during the day too.
hope to hear some baby news soon!
oh yeah dh i will try and get a couple of pics up soon. x

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/07/2010 13:35

memphis Ive tried Pampers, huggies and tesco own and have to say Pampers are the best closely followed by tesco own and didnt really think much of huggies.

viksam good luck, hope things go smoothly for you!

milc hope the feeding settles down soon and you get some rest.
kk have you tried walking up and down stairs to help wind - sometimes worked for dd.

I'm still having contractions - occaisionally v. painful, but not building or getting more regular - resigned myself to it being a while yet.

Having been lovely this morning dd is being a right pita now - won't do as asked, making more and more mess, and I am just too shattered to occupy her sufficiently. Two and a half hours till dh gets home - though I imagine he will be shattered too. Roll on bedtime.

Jenny95 · 22/07/2010 17:22

I'm due 28th july, can't wait! x

Spirael · 22/07/2010 17:42

Afternoon all!

Sorry I've not been posting much in here, I've been chatting more in the First Time Frolickers thread. I have been keeping up with reading this one, though!

DesperateHousewife, I've stuck a picture of Mindy in my profile now. Taken earlier today, she's 2 weeks and 1 day.

Sounds like we have some more LOs on the way shortly! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for quick and painless labours for you all.

Things are going fine here, we're starting to find a good routine now. Mindy is still a very easy baby to care for, she settles easily, latches like a pro and I've toughened up a bit now so BF is not quite so toe-curling as when I started out.

I have however jumped to an impressive 32H since my milk came in! Will I shrink back down again when I stop feeding? I struggle to get my bosom into my tops at present.

Mindy is back to her birth weight now and gaining steadily every time she's weighed, which is a relief. She's getting longer, too! Her newborn sleepsuits are almost too short for her. I blame her Daddy... He's tall and skinny too.

The internal damage I took is apparently healing really well, but I've found over the last few days that it's uncomfortable for me to stand still for any length of time. There's like a dull ache in my nether regions that increases the longer I stand, but if I sit or walk it's fine. Has anyone else got this? When does it go away??

kkfairybrains · 22/07/2010 18:30

cant say i've got that spireal. mine is just really really bruised now that the swelling has gone down.stitches stil there but dp says its looking good! actually thought i had an infection in my pee hole cos its so sore all the time but its actually just bruised.cant wait to be able to sit down properly again! Miranda is an absolute beauty!!! so pretty!
thanks for that tip will try it next time wonder much happening since? all the contractions are doing something x
well i've realised that ellie absolutely loves being out and about. walked down to the shop a while ago and she went straight to sleep and she's still asleep in the buggy! she's due a feed at 7 going by the 4 hour thing but she's going longer between feeds more and more often now. im presuming this is ok and she'd wake if she was hungry? if i did wake her she wouldnt take a feed so think i'll just leave her be. bit annoying in the way that i cant really time her feeds though.
just sitting down for little rest.there really is not enough hours in the day to get everything done. feel like i never sit down!

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/07/2010 19:06

mlic its nice to know Im not alone with the constant (well it feels like it) feeding. Dylan is the same and wants feeding pretty much 2 hourly, sometimes he goes longer during the day if we're out and about (the car sends him straight to sleep).
Your not alone though! When your up at 3am tonight doing yet another feed, just think Ill be up aswell doing exactly the same thing

spirael she is SO sweet! That really is a lovely pic

Dylan was weighed on Tues by HV, hes now 7lb 8! So a fair bit above his birth weight which they are really happy about and reassures me that Im doing the right thing with the breastfeeding.

Ive ordered 2 nursing bras from M&S online, they should be coming either tomoro or Sat, I measured myself (I know not totally accurate) but if they're wrong Ill just send them back but really hoping they'll be ok as they are the nicest looking ones Ive found so far and at £25 for 2 quite good value.

Is he going through a growth spurt? How come you decided to give up breatfeeding, was it just the length of time thing?
I can only say it'll get better, I know not much help right now.
Make sure you take 10 mins out just for you, sit down with a cuppa or try and get some shut eye.

kittykat77 · 22/07/2010 20:40

Evening everyone

Sounds like there may be some more babies soon

Thomas is doing fine. Took him for his 10 day check with the midwife this morning, and he is putting on weight, although still not back to birth weight yet.

He is BF really well, much better than the other 2 kids ever did - only took 3 attempts to get it right! Last night he had his 10pm feed, and then completely missed his 2am feed, and only woke up when I went into him at 6am to check he was still ok! I'm sure that is probably a one off though, my other 2 didn't start sleeping through until 3 months!

DH I ended up getting some nursing bras from mothercare. My boobs measured a massive 44D . I was also wondering, do they stay big all the time you are BF? (have only managed a maximum of 6 weeks BF with DD, and no BF really with DS1)

Well DH is on his last day of paternity leave tomorrow, and is back at work on Monday, so that is when the fun will really start, when I have all 3 kids to look after on my own.

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/07/2010 20:50

kitty wow your lucky little Thomas slept through! Dylan has never done that and doubt he's going to start anytime soon.
I dont really know about boob size, its my first time at all this so prob not the best person to advise!
Ive gone up 2 cup sizes though so hoping they stay the same, logic tells me they stay big all the time you've got milk coming through then when you stop breastfeeding they will go down.

Chulita · 22/07/2010 21:45

Your boobs do settle down a bit, but they don't go fully back to normal until your little one doesn't need them for all their nourishment. The worst is when you do finally stop cos they're just saggy bags then til the fat deposits build back up again!

Gracie123 · 22/07/2010 22:52

I went from 32AA (pre preg) to 38E after DS was born. They did settle down within about 3 months to 34B/C. I was well chuffed!!

Actually they didn't disappear when he weaned (approx 18 months) and I was still a 34B when I fell pg this time. I'm now a 38DD again, it's very exciting for those of us who had no boobs BC (before children )

stac14 · 22/07/2010 23:07

Evening all, how are the ladies who are contracting?

kk rileighs the same as ellie may with wind. We changed her bottles to dr browns for colic, they are quite expensive but boots do their own type of the same bottle for £6 for 2 so much cheaper. We're also using dentinox colic drops which has helped break it up. Also if shes farting then shes getting the wind out.

mlic we're trying hard to stretch out feeds but rileigh pretty much sets the way it goes. Sometimes i worry shes not eating enough. If you get any tips let me know. Baby centre is a good site, they had info on games to play with your newborn to keep them awake.

spireal mindy is gorgeous, thats such a cute pic. Rileigh and her were born the same day . I have put pics on

Hope everyones good x

Chulita · 23/07/2010 04:26

Morning all, been up since 2am contracting off and on. I was determined to stay in bed til half 5 but it's too uncomfy. I don't want to say this is it cos I've had too many false starts but these are really painful and are coming every 10 mins or so. I think I might try timing them for a bit and see what happens.

OP posts:
Gracie123 · 23/07/2010 09:31

I hope things progress well for you chulita. It sucks being this uncomfy.

I can't decide if my waters are leaking or not got a section booked for Tuesday, so should really ring hospital if they are, but don't want to have internal to check I'm so sore down there already!

TMI alert I've been wearing pads as I have strepp B and is causing discharge, so pads is easier than changing pants all day! Last night discharge became very thin and watery. I know it's not urine because I have a UTI atm too and my urine is dark yellow but this is definitely clear.

It doesn't smell though and when it dries the pad goes really hard and crispy. Would you ring the midwife?

It's my sodding birthday tomorrow and it's the first time DH has arranged me any kind of celebration in 5 years. If I have to have the section and my party gets cancelled I'll be gutted. Especially as I've been having contractions for 3weeks that have built to nothing!!
