Hello everyone and thanks for the good wishes. This does seem to be it but it is very slow! The contractions have continued at ten minutes apart since very early this morning. I've had a few at five and seven minutes apart but the pattern is ten minutes. They are getting stronger but still reasonably comfortable and they definitely get closer together when I walk / bounce on my fit ball etc but I get more tired and they go back to ten minutes apart when I rest so it feels like I'm not achieving anything and I'm getting a bit despondent and a bit tired .

Shouldn't complain. Yesterday, I'd have given anything to be in early labour. Today, I'd give anything to be in established labour. Bet I'll be eating those words when I am in established labour .

stac14 · 16/07/2010 21:49

memphis think rileighs wardrobe for the next few months is sorted, the pressies have been fab. Dp wants to buy me something, just not sure what yet lol. Glad your feeling better. My stitches have been good but dp says theres a bit thats struggling to knit together, just hoping i dont get an infection.

dee seems your getting there hun. Thinking of you

Quick question rileighs over a week old and my boobs havent leaked, is that normal? X

memphis83 · 17/07/2010 09:37

deelite hope things are moving quicker for you today! not had a new baby on here for a few days!
stac we have been bought a few little bits for Lyndon im glad i bought so much though as his legs are so skinny his nappies keep leaking been told boots do a size between prem and newborn so going to go get some hes really long and skinny! not had any friends visit yet so they all keep saying they have presents so they are all visiting over weekend, good thing about traumatic birth is theyve let me recover b4 decending on us
my dh is buying me an eternity ring but waiting til september as my fingers shrank when i lost weight so want to see if they expand again 1st as you cant resize them.
on the boob front Lyndon is 5 days my boobs feel like rocks but mine arent leaking either, asked mw she said thats good i will dry up within 7-10 days, they would only leak if you stimulated them, i have a really good bra and dont let the shower touch them! hope your stitches are ok, i just hope i go back to normal down there!

viksam · 17/07/2010 09:48

TCS Gosh it does sound like u have ur hands full, ur doing it againg because the good far outweights the bad......please tell me thats true!!

Deelite Ohhhh how exciting, i know its probably not for you though, lets hope u get into established labour really soon.

stac thats rubbist about tommy tippie bottles, i have 4 of them on standby in case i need them, im disappointed to hear ur MW doesnt like them. It is individual though i suppose.

chulita That sounds painfull, u really dont need that on top of everything else.

memphis how lovely they YOU have had some nice presents, the charm bracelet sounds lovely, i really like the pandora glass bead ones, Hmmmmmmm maybe i should drop some hints!!

stac due to not knowing the sex of our baby im hoping people will buy clothes too as we havent got any outfits at all and lo might get boared in white sleepsuites till its 3 months old!!!

Thanks for all the hospital bag replies its interesting to hear whats been used and what hasn't, what about anything u wish u had packed but didn't?

We have a friends dog coming for a few hours this morning while they go to the hospital with their little one so that should be interesting as this dog hates cats and we have two!! When they come back we might go to the seaside so that would be nice. We saw 'inception' last night, it was very good, very clever, left you with some questions afterwards but I enjoyed it.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/07/2010 10:19

Congratulations curlycaspar!

viksam I wish I had packed some food! I had Dylan at 9am but had been in labour since 2am and I didnt get lunch til about 2pm! So from 9am til 2pm I had an apple that DP remembered to pack
To say I was hungry is an understatement!

Ive decided Dylan has his days and nights mixed up, hes very sleepy during the day and I have to wake him for feeds but during the night hes up every hour-2 hours, feeds, has his nappy changed then just lays in my arms awake (wont lay in the moses basket awake, although he does in the day) I need to get this changed around!

NorkyButNice · 17/07/2010 11:38

Hey ladies.

Sorry for going awol since posting birth announcement - things have been chaotic and a bit stressful so have had hands full.

Firstly, congratulations to everyone who has had their bundles in the last few days - I hope you're having lots of lovely cuddles and getting more sleep than I am!

Hospital bag front - I only packed a small bag for the both of us anyway and hardly used any of it - my nightie, flip flops, clean underwear, maternity pads, phone charger. For DS, a couple of babygros, nappies, cotton wool balls.

As for the birth itself - I'd been having painful BH for about a week, sometimes as regularly as every 5 minutes but they'd always stop. I finally woke up on Tuesday at 6.30 having proper pains every 4 minutes - I then had a show when I went to the toilet.

Pains quickly went down to every 2.5 minutes, so I called the hospital who advised waiting at home for another hour since I'd only been contracting for an hour! I ignored them and we headed in after dropping DS at nursery at 8. Got there and was 8cm!

Got into birthing pool for half an hour but had to get out to deliver as he was so big. 11lb 3oz!

His name is Nathaniel Owain. He won't feed but that's another story I'll save for later!

adanaivy · 17/07/2010 11:56

hi im new on mumsnet saw this thread and it is so good to know im not alone im 39weeks +2 and feel like screaming keep gettin pains but then they fade to nothing so keep hoping to go into full blown labour it doesnt help i have a two year old and a one year old to contend with to thank god for my other half he does all the house work at the mo makes me feel lazy but i just dont have the strength to do it congrats to all those people who have had their babies i am so right now

Chulita · 17/07/2010 12:25

viksam DD used Tommee Tippee bottles and we're planning on using them for this one too. Every baby's different so yours might be fine on them, if not then you can try others but a couple of my friends swapped to them because their babies couldn't handle Avent or whatever. Just have to play it by ear!

Hello adanaivy, I'm 39+2 as well and would love this baby out soon!

DH got his posting order through at last and they said he doesn't have to start til 13th Sept so he can get his paternity leave mid-August Even if I have to do the first couple of weeks with 2 LO's, at least he'll get some time off!

viksam chulita and mlic i didnt meant the bottles don't work for rileigh and our mw didnt like them, thats no to say they are not fine for others. The mw said she found that they caused more wind and for us its true x

Chulita · 17/07/2010 15:52

I know what you meant stac, no worries I was just reassuring viksam that they could work for her LO - always good to know that if your baby's got wind it's worth trying different bottles though! WRT your scar, I had one side of the cs wound/scar that looked like it wasn't going to knit properly. In the end it healed up fine but that side of the scar is a bit more raised than the rest. For a while I could see the under bit of skin which was quite

chulita great news about dh's leave! you must be very pleased!
went to boots today, Lyndon is 6pound 14oz but ive had to buy premature nappies weight 2-5lb for his skinny legs!! also used the wait an hour service for the photos to send to people and i forgot to pick them up, what a wally! had lots of presents delivered today got duplicates of a teddy! one will have to go to nannys! also got bought jeans, not sure i will put him in them, his skin is so delicate dont want to agrivate it, been trying to put pics on profile for a few days but wont go on for some reason!

wonderstuff · 17/07/2010 16:33

Hey all - due date tomorrow - we had nothing planned and the three of us are crawling the walls - everything is packed/brought/set up for baby - we just need the baby! I am still getting bigger and concerned at how big this baby is going to be if I go far over - however still moving alot, so must be alot of liquid in there too. I'm only able to walk very slowly or I get sciatic pains from my hip down my legs, can't spend long in the car or my back hurts, if I sit down too long I ache, stand too long I'm tired - I know I'm not the only one suffering - I'm just longing to sleep on my tummy.

beckyg123 · 17/07/2010 19:37

mlic rompers and sleepsuits are all i like them to be in, and the sleepsuits are so cute you can get so many nice ones at the mo!
good luck becky!!! will be thinking of you!!!

kkfairybrains · 17/07/2010 21:22

best of luck for tomorrow becky!hope all goes ok for you!
im just not destined to get catching up on this at all! i had a big post written yesterday that took me over an hour to write between people calling and stuff and then the internet went down!.but anyway i'l rewrite what i can remember!
memphis sorry to hear you had a hard time of it. that was ridiculous to leave you sitting that long for your appointment with a newborn baby.as if things aren't hard enough. lyndon sounds like a hungry little boy! ellie is pretty much the same but she just takes her time but the head shakes from side to side to get the bottle in her mouth quicker! its so funny looking! hope your waterworks sort themselves out soon.
stac hope riliegh is more settled with her new food and bottles.how are you finding things otherwise?
vik re the hospital bag i used very little too. the things i found a godsend were the spray bottle for my face during and after labour.a flannel would be a very good idea aswell that i would have loved to wet and put on the back of my neck on the first night that i was so hot. also headband and bobbles. and fluffy socks for during labour that i was taking on and off.
dee hope your labour is going well or you have your baby in your arms!
someone was on about the stitches and peeing.i find leaning forward and doing it like glasto said the best. also i have a sports cap bottle left in the toilet with warm water and couple of drops of tea tree oil and i spray that on afterwards. also im ahving baths with tea tree oil and lavender oil but not getting much relief from it to be honest. a girl told me today sal and bread soda so im going to try that tonight.thats if this little lady ever wakes up for her feed! she's so lazy! she just wakes for her feed every 4 hours on the dot.feeds,farts.poo's and sleep again! she's just a dream and we're enjoying her so much! also at her 3 day check she was up her weight! dressed her up for the first time today and she looked so adorable! just really wish id stop being so sore down below and my boobs aswell and id be able to move alot easier and enjoy her even more.dp is being absolutely brill. he's back to work monday and we'r both dreading it! really enjoyed having him here all week and he's being great at cleaning and feeding and changing and night feeds.he's going for few drinks tonight and mum is staying up.
didnt get the chance to read back before i had her and i wont get the chance now so big congrats to all new babies and mummies!! norky that was some whopper! well done you and thank god you went to the hospital when you did!
ellie was due her feed at quarter to 9 and still no stir out of her! the lazy lump!
hopefully now i'll be able to keep up to date with all you ladies

viksam · 17/07/2010 22:09

KK life sounds good and she sounds really lovely, like a dream!
stac its fine, its interesting to hear different opinions, thanks guys for the reassurance.
Norky my god, it is a good job u went when you did, i cant believe they said to stay at home for another hour when you were 2.5 mins apart, im not sure Id be happy with that!
becky Really good luck for tomorrow, i hope everything goes well, dont worry, u will have ur lo in ur arms before u know it. Please let us know when ur back at home. xxx

stac14 · 17/07/2010 22:49

mlic we were advised to try colocynthis granules and i have to admit they are great. They are homeopathic and you get them from boots.

Sorry viksam my lack of sleep may have made me a bit predjudice against tommy tippee lol. Defo phone charger, i was online when lo was asleep

norky how are you after the birth? Ds was nearly a pound ligther than your lo and i was a mess. Lovely name hun, have you put pics on?

kk hows ellie may? Rileigh is generally contented and so gorgeous i cant stop looking at her lol

becky you'll be fine huni, what time have you to go in? Cant wait to hear bout your wee bundle.

chulita great news bout dh's leave, you must be glad. Have you had any signs?

Hope everyones good, have just did bath and now bedtime for lo x

kkfairybrains · 18/07/2010 00:41

vik yeah she is! i may be a bit biased though!
stac im the same i just love looking at her and all the faces she pulls!
she's awake now so better go x

Chulita · 18/07/2010 09:05

Morning all!
Yesterday I was getting contractions irregularly throughout the day, they got pretty strong at one point but stopped overnight. This morning I'm back to the back pain and BH again - seriously the BH have been dragging on for 10 days now. Yesterday they were proper contractions, stopped me in my tracks but today, nothing! ARGH! Can't go on longer than 2 more weeks though (there must be a bright side to that!)

Ooh! emster posted on the August thread that she was just waiting to go into hospital with regular contractions yesterday so we might have another baby announcement on here soon

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 18/07/2010 11:04

Arghhh Im losing my mind!! Dylan wont sleep at night, hes up til about 2am just staring, not wanting a feed/nappy change hes just awake but only if I hold him, if I try to put him in his moses basket then he moans.

After he's finally dropped off around 2 he'll wake up every hour-hour and a half when the feed-nappy change- feed routine starts again and sometimes this can take nearly 2 hours. Im getting NO sleep, I try to sleep during the day but only about an hour as I find it difficult to sleep in the day.

What can I doooo?
