aw glaston what a shitty day, has she stopped to consider what your dealing with? Maybe you could use the social services to your advantage hun, especially with support with ds1. I'm disgusted with your childs school though. I knew you had done midwifery, just thought dp had did it too x

wonderstuff · 15/07/2010 08:30

Oh Glaston poor you. What a strange thing for the head to do! I'm not sure what he imagines social services will do? Not exactly a child protection issue is it. Have you spoken to school about CAHMs findings? I would have thought that in light of that they would act with a bit more understanding. I hope that the rest of the week gets better, this is the last thing you need isn't it? Where I live social services are so streched they will only get involved if they think lives are at risk - even then they don't seem to always do much, I really would try not to get worried about a referal, you are accessing all the support you can get and have had a really positive meeting with CAHMs, seems the school have an issue.

Welcome amiable my dd was 3 days early so I was convinced that this one would be arriving even earlier - its been engaged for 3 weeks now, but not appeared yet - waiting is killing me. Can't believe they still use the term 'geriatric' to refer to older mums - how rude! I think there is a long list of inappropriate terms that (male?) doctors have assigned to womens health.

viksam glad the hv turned up. For lavender bath I put the oil in a small amount of milk - I have no idea if this is the best way! but a mw recommended it, the protein in the milk disperses the oil and it doesn't get greasy - you can imagine you're Cleopatra!

stac no, no more pains, bh are getting more frequent but no sign of labour - am a bit worried with all these bh when I start it will go quick? Keep telling myself I will definitly know when I go into labour, it will hurt! But there I am everytime I have a niggle I think oh, is it isn't it??

Congratulations kk lovely name.

Our arrived list is now looking longer than the pending one - I want to move up!

Gracie123 · 15/07/2010 08:48

glasto I'm so sorry the head is being such an arse. If it helps though, I found social services to be invaluable when DS was little, and called them again when I found out I was pg this time!
They've even helped with things like driving me to dr appts and supervising DS in waiting room so I didn't have to bring him in when discussing delicate issues. As long as you have nothing to hide they can really be genuinely very helpful.

Well the big move is happening today, and the Internet is about to be cut. Orange say it will take 14 days to set up in new house, so hopefully the next time you hear from me will be to tell you we have our LO.

My sister and I both dreamed it was a boy last night! I'll have to start dying things if it is - including my beautiful baby pink buggy I just bought!!!

wonderstuff · 15/07/2010 09:17

Oh gracie good luck with the move. If its a boy you can say you are going retro? in the 1920's it was pink for a boy and blue for a girl.

Dh and I have been mega stressed (just like everyone else I imagine) but particularly worried about money - paying rent this month was going to be close and involve going to our overdraft limit. Anyway dh arrived at his parents today and his dad said you look stressed - I'll put a grand in your bank account, that should help a bit I feel a bit but it is something I would like to do if I had the money and dd was stressed out. Made dh cry, and me when he told me. We are so lucky with our family.

Right now must get off here and do something - dd has started telling me about the mess - she came into our room this morning and told me I must tidy up before the baby comes - she's not wrong.

Irishfairy · 15/07/2010 10:24

Hi ladies,

congrats on all the new arrivals, I have been checking on here for the past few weeks to see each exciting new addition.

I'm very though since I am now the most overdue person on here... 11 days over today! Although going by the 12 week scan date which is more accurate only 8 days over.
Would really prefer not to be induced (unless have to for baby's sake).
Have midwife app today going to ask for a sweep. Have been trying all the usual tricks but nothing doing!

I was 19 days over myself and it seems that my mum, aunts and grandmother seem to have longer pregnancies that go to about 42 weeks so trying to be patient and keep busy so that I don't go crazy! The msgs from people are getting annoying though, people texting things like 'where has the baby gone?'

Anyway hope those left don't have to wait as long as me and hope all the new mums are doing well.

viksam what have your cats been doing? We have 2 also and I'm not sure how they're going to react to LO's arrival

Hi Ladies,
Well I had my consultants appointement today and im a little dissapointed. I didnt really go in with and expectations but they tried to do a sweep(its EDD today) and had to abandon it due to not being able to reach. So LO definatly isnt coming any time soon my DH is off now too and Im afraid he is going to run out of time and I will be left alone.......so I need a comprehensive list of things to to do that bring on labour, i want this baby out ASAP!!!!
What is clary sage, where do u get it from, how do u use it and is it safe?
What else is advised, i dont care if its old wives tales or new age mumbo i wana try it all.......can you tell im really impatient now?
They have booked me in for induction on the 27th, i have to phone the labour ward at 8pm to see when to go in, oh thats soooo far away. I have a MW app next week which they have advised to try another sweep, i so hope that works!!

re the cats, i think they will be fine with the baby, its me that doesnt like them any more. I mean i love them of course but i dont like that they bring dirt in with them and they jump up onto every surface and slink in through doorways that are barley open etc etc. The house just gets so dirty because of them and its going to really do my head in if i find them in the babys stuff. I remember my brothers wife gave their cat away years ago when my nephew was a baby because of those reasons and finding cat hairs in the babys clothes and MOUTH. I thought she was bad at the time but i so totally understand now. Got to go to the vets with one of them in a bit as she has skinned a large portion of her back leg some how and she keeps licking it sore and thats freaking me out too.

irish 11 days, god thats ages, how are u feeling? The messages from people i can imagine are annoying. I dont wasnt to be induced either. Have u not had a sweep yet?

glasto how are things today, what have u decided to do?

wonder I want to move up too!! Im gona be one of the last i recon thanks for the lavendar tip.

wonderstuff · 15/07/2010 12:09

irish I have been looking at the pending list and thinking of you. Hope you don't have too much longer to wait.

viksam how gutting about the sweep - I can have one on Wed - when the mw suggested it last week I was in two minds, now I just will try anything.

Emsie great that babs is engaged - I got excited that mine was, that was 3 weeks ago now..

Clary Sage - is an aromotherapy essential oil - Boots will have it - is a bit pricy, you can add to base oil and massage it, add it to the bath like the lavender, and is supposed to be good in labour - I have some mixed with an oil and dh has instructions to rub into my back in first stage labour. I have been having it in the bath and rubbing it in my lower back - I love the smell but hasn't worked to bring on contractions yet.

Other ways
Sex
Pinapple - has to be fresh, not tinned or juice - apparently you have to eat about 2 for whatever is in it to work {boark}
Nipple stimulation
Spicy food
Reflexology
I imagine there must be an acupuncture technique?

Thats all I know of - anyone else got any ideas? Right have been tidying for a couple of hours and dd has a neat bedroom, the kitchen is passable, the lounge is half done and the diningroom and my room still untouched, I have a clean toilet, but rest of the bathroom is starting to get grubby - so difficult to keep on top of it all. Trying to focus on jobs dh won't think of - dusting, cleaning the bath, putting the toys away so we don't lose all the bits.. Essentially his approach is shove everything out of the way and clean anything obviously dirty, could be worse.

Emster30 · 15/07/2010 12:34

Bad luck on being so overdue irish - hurry up baby! I am already getting texts, calls and Facebook posts from people asking how I'm doing, whether there's any news etc which will definitely get annoying soon! I plan to refer them to this website: www.haveyouhadthatbabyyet.com/.

Mind you I thought I might have had a bit of a show yesterday, so maybe it won't be too too long... No more signs though.

viksam · 15/07/2010 13:02

emster thats class, i may use that myself!

wonder thanks for the list, i dont mind the sex and the nipple stimulation!!!! I may pop into town and get some clary sage and pinapple!
Anyone tried castor oil? DH is researching on the internet and he seems to think thats one of the best ones.
Also rasberry leaf tea, do u have to be taking that for a while?

Just been to the vets and got turned away, ok we were 5 mins late and the vet had buggered off for a home visit, how rude! we have sat in that vets for ages waiting before now, we have NEVER been seen on time and yet the one and only time we are 5 mins late and they bugger off. My DH was really mad and had a right go, which is totally out of character for him but he was right to, we have a poorley animal and have made a trip out too. Now we have to decide when we should go back, its so annoying. We were late because Trinity wouldnt come in from the garden for ages i had to coax her out from behind a bush in the end, im sure they know stuff.

The vets just rang, they said when we are ready to make another appointement it will be free of charge, interesting, they must have felt in the wrong but that is nice of them.

Well im going to keep busy and try and get all my stupid jobs done.

Hows all our Momas???

MelissaM · 15/07/2010 13:13

desperatehousewife - have you tried Lilypadz Lilypadz? They are a silicon pad which adheres to your skin and kinda create a vacuum so you don't really leak. I used them with DD and they were fantastic. Have just bought some more. Mothercare, John Lewis and any good local baby shop should stock them.

Glasto sorry to hear you had such a bad day.

Gracie good luck with the move.

Re bringing labour on there is meant to be an acupuncture technique too. Haven't tried it, but have heard good things. Might look into it next week if my parents have gone home (staying with us for two weeks which is up tomorrow, but no signs of them leaving any time soon!) I read yesterday that need to eat 7!!! Clary Sage helped my contractions strengthen last time, but I was already in labour. Just smelling it worked for me.

Keep having false starts here too - lots of BH which get quite painful and are regular for an hour or two, then disappear. Head has been engaged for weeks (on and off ) and have had a show (also weeks ago now), so think things are getting ready just not there yet.

Becky - added myself and Amiable to the list - hope thats ok.

Viksam I think raspberry leaf tea needs to be taken for a while and it helps make your contractions more effective (and supposedly your labour shorter I guess). Sorry to hear of probs with vet, but glad they have offered free app next time.

Emster - love the site

beckyg123 · 15/07/2010 14:36

Hey girls,

Love the website emster it answers all the questions i've been getting today!!! Even got stopped in tesco today- "have you not popped yet?" ...well duh!

Thanks for updating the list Melissa good to see a few more people waiting! lol! Lola ment to say yesterday that you need to add yourself to the arrivals list, either that or post your details and I can do it

stac thanks for that! feeling a good bit better today- glands are still quite swollen so must be fighting something although got antibiotic from GP as she thinks i have another UTI as more protein and white blood cells in urine- going back to see her tomorrow to check it again. Maybe its that thats making me feel run down.

viksam looks like we have the same frame of mind today! I ate half a pineapple last night- not even a twinge so bought 2 more this morning- DH going to chop them up for me to nibble. Been out for a brisk walk waddle this morning which started some BHs but nothing else. We are going to have a hot thai green curry for dinner and then i have a clary sage massage lined up! please please please baby make a move

Oh irishfairy so glad you posted today! not glad for you that baby is not here yet but glad for me not to be next on list- reduces the pressure slightly! Have you got a date to be induced?

Glaston i am with how the school have interfered with your DS! really not a good day for you but so glad you have had the reassurance from the CAMHs team- social services will see that you are dealing with the issues well and you are clearly motivated to help yous son in what ever ways he needs- you never know, like gracie said, they may even have some extra support they can offer you although i don't think it was the schools decision to make! It sounds like they are getting involved in out of school issues too if your son was playing in a local playground? strange!

Thats my DH finished work now, will be strange having him around so much since i've been off work myself for 5 weeks now! we are going to clear out the wardrobe this afternoon- fingers crossed we can do it without arguing!

DeeLite · 15/07/2010 15:01

Poor you, Irishfairy. I am three days overdue and already going out of my mind. You sound pretty chilled so good for you.

Becky, good luck with your curry and massage tonight. Do let us know if they are productive! That's hilarious that someone asked you if you'd popped yet.

The texts and phonecalls are sooooo annoying. I'm telling people that the midwife examined me and said that nothing will happen for at least a week. That's a lie but will hopefully get them off my case for a week. I used to text people on their due date to quiz them on progress. I had no idea how upsetting it was and thought I was being nice, showing them I was thinking of them. I know my friends are all well-intentioned too but I wish they'd just bugger off and leave me in peace. Moan, moan, moan. Sorry .

To cheer myself up, I have just bought two gorgeous matching outfits (really sweet babygro, blanket and vest) in pink and blue for the baby. I don't know what sex my baby is and am getting bored with neutrals so bought this stuff and will return whichever one is the wrong colour as the company is doing free postage and returns at the moment. Hurrah for retail therapy.

viksam · 15/07/2010 15:35

Becky my DH is home now too and has been since monday and Im pleased to say its been LOVELY. I have really enjoyed having him around and he has done a few jobs already with out being nagged, hurrah. This morning he came to the hospital with me which was nice and it was nice that he heard all the induction/sweep explanations so he has a total understanding of whats going on, so all good so far. We are going to just go ahead and plan some things for the next few weeks and try and have some nice trips out etc, might be just the time we need actually.
deelite Ahhhhh thats ace that u have got some nice things, my baby hasnt really got any 'outfits' just mainly babygrows and the reason is the same as urs not knowing the sex. Im hoping when we know people will buy some outfits.

Emster30 · 15/07/2010 15:36

Although another friend said that once she was overdue people totally stopped contacting her and she felt quite lonely for the dragging 8 days until she finally gave birth! So people can't win...

Chulita · 15/07/2010 15:43

glaston I hope everything gets sorted out for you - imo that's awful for the head to go behind your back like that after one incident.

irish I hope things get moving for you soon.

I've not been on for a while because mil is here and she's being a right pita. For some reason she thinks I can't cope with dd and is all over her. She also sits next to me when I'm on the laptop and reads over my shoulder so I've been avoiding mn. Only here til tomorrow night and then life can get back to normal.

Went to the consultant today and she did a ve which really hurt. Cervix is soft but still very high so all these bh don't mean anything yet but then again, I'd rather wait til my mum gets here than have mil here when I'm in labour!

OP posts:
kkfairybrains · 15/07/2010 18:28

hey evryone!stil havent had the chance to catch up between everyone coming and going! but was just popping on to say i haven't forgotten about you all and congrats to any new arrivals! and also forgot to put doen ellie's birth weight which was 8lb 14!!! a whopper! we'r doing absolutely brill here and she's just a dream baby!so good and so alert and loves looking around her a pulling faces!still just in besotted mode and hope it doesn't ever go away!xx
hope everyone else is doing well.going to try and get an hour to myself over the next couple of days to catch up with whats been happening xx

beckyg123 · 15/07/2010 18:28

emster my mum was saying the same thing when i complained about the messages- people just care!

Oh dear chulita i hope tomorrow night comes quickly for you! my MIL lives locally so i only need to see her in small doses, not overnight! ve does not sound nice

deelite that was a good idea about the outfits- we just have white babygrows and vests and a couple of cardis- might suggest to DH we go shopping tomorrow and keep receipts although i'm sure baby will have plenty by the time we have had a few visitors.

viksam glad you and your DH have been enjoying some time together! we also have had a lovely first day so a good sign of days to come!

wardrobe all tidied out and the wheely bin is full only one little arguement- i'm impressed!!!
Off to order the curry- decided on takeaway rather than making it

beckyg123 · 15/07/2010 18:30

KK x posted with you- you sound like your on a high! glad to hear things are going so well- will update the list later on with Ellie's weight

GlastonburyGoddess · 15/07/2010 20:24

viksam-Im really sorry to hear about your sweep-or lack of. Its disheartening I agree but try not to feel too bad, things can change within hours and although it was unreachable today, theres a good chance they will be able to do it next week. did they try getting you to put your fists underneath your bottom?

I didnt speak to any teachers or the head today, but Ive so far had no phonecall from ss so they cant be that concerned. I think they may just note it down on file and not bother to contact me.
VIks-I would strongly advise against castor oil, firstly it runs the risk of making the baby pass meconium inside you, secondly it tastes vile and thirdly do you really fancy puking and shitting through the eye of a needle for hours on end?(which could leave you dehyrated)

beckyg123-hope all your efforts work! How long is your dh off for?

Chulita-Thats exactly how I feel. It feels very backhanded and since I saw her at school an hour before the phonecall I cant understand why she didnt say anything then if she was so concerned.
sorry to hear about your MIL! sounds a nightmare, makes me thankful I get on with mine really well!

Nothing much happening here, had lots more show when I got up to pee last night, lots of cramping today and managed to go for a hr long walk this evening, was really painful but Im getting desperate now!
since getting back have had some pains every 5-10mins or so but since 8 they have tailed off off to rub in some clary sage!

grumpypumpkin · 15/07/2010 21:08

Hi everyone, mummies, overduers and those still in the waiting room like me!

Getting some periody type pains in the evenings but nothing ever develops so not holding out much hope of an early appearance for me.

Dead jealous of all of you that have had your babies, cant wait for it to be me!

Gonna have a clary sage bath and then an early night, am permanantly exhausted at the moment.

Hope we get some overnight arrivals, good luck everyone!

memphis83 · 15/07/2010 21:38

stac no couldnt just send samples in they didnt need to test it just make sure im passing water so i had to measure it, i drank 4 litres and took 6 hours to go! Lyndon was wound up all day as i had to sit in day room which was loud and noisy and they told me to leave him in there alone while i went loo, trying to pee took 15 mins at a time so i was very stressed, i wanted to leave him with dh but they said he needed to come with me! so annoyed with them i got told 2 days ago not to sit directly stitches but didnt have a choice so now very swollen again and sore! i called dh in the end to come and get baby but he stayed with us and i relaxed enough to go!
so that was a very long day and my boobs are throbbing, LO has been constantly hungry today now realise he must be able to smell my milk!
hope we have some more babies tonight!!!

viksam · 15/07/2010 22:22

H
glasto No i seriously dont fancy shitting and puking through the eye of a needle thanks!! I think a lot of the things they suggest to do with food are because they set the bowel off which in turn can set contractions off, its all just chance i suppose.....i did buy a pineapple today though!
Yes she did get me to do the fists and I have had some brownish discharge since so i guess she did something just not enough!! Sorry things have slowed down again for u but glad u didnt have any horrid phone calls from anyone, are u going to take it up with them at any point or just let it lie?
memphis sounds like you have had a hard day, i hope u get some well needed rest tonight!
Hi grumpy hope u had a nice bath!
KK so lovely to here u are enjoying things, doesnt matter that u havent caught up just keep posting the positives, its lovely!!
Becky Glad u have had a nice day, its nice to have them around for a while. Hope ur curry was nice!
Right im off for some gaviscon, yum yum and then to bed to toss and turn a bit!!
Night Night xxx

Amiable · 15/07/2010 23:18

Emster absolutely love that website - genius!

DeeLite - agree with you about internet retail therapy, I've bought loads in last few days. I think I will ask DH to take my credit cards with him when he goes to work romorrow so I am not tempted anymore!

Glasto sorry about situation with school - head teacher sounds like an idiot, what a ridiculous (and very out of order) thing for her to say.

to all those who are overdue, my thoughts are with you - fingers crossed for lots of spontaneous labours starting soon!

I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea for a couple of weeks now, and eating lots of spicy food (which I love anyway) but thinking I may nip out tomorrow and get some pineapple - I have tinned, but didn't realise it has to be fresh to have any effect. Also, will be sitting in front of the telly tweaking my nipples (good thing we have net curtains, don't want to scare the neighbours ). Will be drawing the line at sex though - I suggested it to poor DH, and his face drained of all colour!

Thanks for all the comments about being a geriatric mum - i only turned 40 in March, but I suppose they have to have a cut off point. Apparently it was only about 15/20 years ago it was 35, not 40 . The extra scans and monitoring have been fun though. Last week they showed 1 BH in 40 minutes, and average 15 foetal movements in 1 hour, this week it was 6 BH in 30 mins, and 43 movements! This baby has been loads more active than DD was - my bump is constantly on the move.
