But I think your blanket just needs Worsted/DK yarn...? In which case the Baby Cashmerino is probably the best bet....?

Delia Loved your post - and so glad you're feeling like that. I feel it a bit with this pregnancy but nothing like how I felt with my first.. A (non-religious) friend of mine summed it up really well when he said that when you become pregnant you become Eve. The original mother. The source of life. Connected to all the women that have gone before you and that will follow you through this incredible ability that we all have.

I also describe it as a feeling of 'rightness' - for me it was like something I didn't even know was missing was suddenly found. Profound contentment - and the feeling that I was really very clever in a way that can't be measured by exams and professional attainment...

angels just read your patten properly and what I'd do is use the chunky wool with US size 10 needles like Debbie Bliss reccommends.

I'd suggest these needles - you need to use a circular needle not straight as the blanket will be too 'long' from left to right for straight needles. The 80cm long needles should be long enough for the blanket. I like knitting with circulars - I find it easier than straight and it annoys my MIL who has been knitting for year but only ever used straight.

Using the chunky yarn will mean that the blanket ends up a little bit bigger than the one in the picture but using the Baby Cashmerino and US size 3 needles will make one too small!!

When ordering your yarn I'd get one (or two) extra balls just to be safe.... You can always knit something extra with the left overs.... For example these fingerless mittens use about 1 ball of yarn!!

Morning all, up at 6 today (groan), anyone else waking at a ludicrously early hour? I fall into bed for a nap when DD has hers. Maybe I should stop sleeping in the day....

Off for scan today, hurray! It's a bit early (I'm 10+3) but we go away to Slovenia on Sunday for 6 weeks so I'll miss my proper 12 week one.

Anyone else's DH being an arse? Mine is fairly inconsiderate at the best of times but the last few weeks he's gone into overdrive. If I say I feel sick he immediately tells me about his headache/tiredness/neck ache which is of course 100 times worse than mine.

I hate to annoy you with a little smugness debka but I have no idea what has got into my dh! He has been brilliant with the housework recently and hasn't moaned (too much) about the fact I am pretty much in bed before 8pm each night. Wonder how long it lasts

On a different note though I dreamt last night that he had well and truly pissed me off, it was over a football season ticket (which we argue about every year anyway) but I was sooooooo angry. I have only ever been that angry twice in my life before and both times were when I was pg last time. I know it was just a dream this time but it scares me that I could be capable of that rage again. For example, last time I was pg I nearly rammed my car with me and dh into a wall as he had made me so angry by asking me to give his friends a lift home. It was totally irrational and he managed to sober up pretty quick and get me to pull over but I was a wreck that I had come that close to ending our lives and not caring in the spur of the moment It terrifies me that I might have another moment of pure madness which is what it was.

I feel utterly envious of this pregnancy 'contentment' you are feeling and wondering when I might get it. I can only presume that the sickness is getting in the way of being serene. I spend my days just feeling exhausted and sick, haven't been out the house now for a month other than to the shop round the corner, the doctors and the hospital, and I think I'm just getting cabin fever/lonely, but every time I try and do something/go somewhere it makes me feel worse, so am resigned to this for maybe another month. I'm not complaining, as I'm grateful everything has gone well so far, I just think it's making the pregnancy harder to cope with.

knitternottwotter I've never used curved knitting needles like the ones you suggest - doesn't the end of the stitches just fall off?! Thanks so much for the advice, will order the bits today and see if I can start work next week. I think a project like this will help pass the time and give me soemthing to work towards while stuck at home.

oh chloe I had a very odd vivid dream last night too - but mine involved me contacting the police to say there was a mad driver on the loose on my road - which in my dream was me!! I woke up in a cold sweat as the police were questioning me and I was convinved I'd be pregnant and in jail! lol. so vivid. This dream thing in pregnancy is crazy!! I wouldn't worry too much about your dream - I'm hoping I won't actually be questioned by the police for insane driving in this pregnanacy!! Maybe it's just your concerns coming out in dreams (althoughy goodness knows what that says about my concerns!)

angels you only need to buy one of the circularneedles - it has a needle at both ends and you knit backwards and forwards like you would on a straight needle. If you're making something like a jumper you can knit round and round and round which is fab as you don't have to do any purling (slower for me) or seaming!

This video shows you how to knit back and forth on circular needles if you can't imagine it!

debka Hope the scan is great - make sure you let us know how it goes before you go on holiday :-) I've also been sleeping really lightly - I woke up at about 5 today, although I did manage to go back to sleep - phew...

Morning ladies!

Lots of knitting on this thread ladies, you must all put pictures of your finished items on your profiles!! I am thinking that once I'm past 20 weeks I might start a cross stitch sampler... I like the old traditional style ones!

I am shattered today! spent about 5 hours after work putting up an electric net fence for our chickens in the wind and rain! Wasn't very impressed, by the time we had finished the chickens had gone to bed and so didn't get to enjoy their new HUGE enclosure!!! TYPICAL!!

On the topic of Mums my MIL is pretty good and very excited about our news (she screamed for about 10 mins when we told her), my Mum is fairly disinterested and her response was "thats interesting" when we told her. She will get better though I'm sure when the baby arrives! She's just not really a baby person (like me)!!

Hi all, back from scan, definitely pregnant, definitely only one! Saw the little thing waving its arms and legs and saw its heart beating too. All feels a bit more real now. Then went for McDonalds breakfast mmmmmmmmmmm!! (had my first breakfast at 6am so was pretty hungry!)

Knitter- scan due date is 6 Feb- nice to move up the list but from past experience I won't actually deliver till MUCH later!

Sorry I haven't posted on here for ages, been feeling so terrible. Been in hospital twice with severe vomiting. Now on anti sickness medication but still feeling pretty rough.

I've had an early scan, all O.K, actual due date is now 15th Feb.

Is anyone who's had sickness starting to feel better yet? I want to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm hoping will be 12 weeks at the latest.

debkagreat news its funny when you are expecting them to say you made a mistake and they are just all casual about it.It was lovely to see it moving too. Can you feel it?i def can as it moved on scan as i felt it.I did answer you early but lost it on my i phone. On the subject of dh's I ABSOLUTELY HATE MINE i dont know what to do. He has been very helpfull doing everything etc but he is doing my head in.We are relative newly weds so were sickeningly loved up before but evrything he does irritates me now.He was a bit iffy at the beginging as he was "worried"(HE was worried?)So i dont know if i am harbouring some resentment. i am quite worried about it as dont want to end up a single parent again. When hes at work i plan to be nice but as soon as he gets back i just feel irritated. My mate said she was like it too. Maybe i should move out until Feb haha any pearls of wisdom.

knitter thanks for the yarn advice - have brought both the yarn and the groovy knitting needle from ebay I know I can do the first few rows of 'plain' stitching, just hope I understand the rest of the pattern!

angels really excited i'm sure it'll be a good project for you. I love watching my knitting grow Shout if you have any problems.... Now I just have to finish the arms on my siters cardigan and I can do some more interesting knitting - so bored of them though that it's putting me off! I know what i'm going to knit next.... but I just have to do finish the cardigan!!! I recon i've got 3 hours knitting to go before the cardi is done....

ledkr have seriously considered divorce during this pregnancy - mostly when I'm doing housework and when DH is playing x-box ... grrrr. But i keep reminding myself that while he is being sightly unreasonable I'm undoubtedly hormonally unreasonable which is slighly less rational. I've found that just giving him a cuddle helps - don't need to talk to him .

I also wonder if you could articulate what it is that you'd rather he did... if you can write it down and then get him to read it... if you can't you know it's a pregnancy symptom and you'll just have to recognise when it's rearing it's ugly head!!

angels1 sorry to hear you been poorly too. I've got cyclizine but I'm mainly taking prochlorperazine. Terrified to stop taking them as very time I try I end up in hospital again. can't wait to be better. I find the tablets make me drowsy too so I'm sleeping alot when my DS's allow.

Knita thanks.I will write down i would rather he moved out haha i am so wicked.The problem is he is an absolute gem. cooking cleaning etc i could sit down all the time when not working and he would not care and do it all. I will give a few examples of what annoys me as it will at least make us laugh.1. eating copius amounts of cereal even after just eaten a meal and also if there isnt much milk. Worse still bringing it up to bed(crunch crunch)when i am sleeping.2. leaving everything everywhere and then asking why it matters..clothes on kitchen table,shoes in middle of lounge, read post on stairs.3. finishing everyones leftovers as if he's starving.or eating my special pregnant food eg. peanut butter or thin ginger biscuits which he normally doesnt eat. oh yeah an 4. breathing..lol you see its not that bad its just me. luckily he works a lot. I hope honey witch is ok. Did she say when her scan was?
