tabbycat76 so excited for you with the twins!! I hope that the MS doens't get too bad, just get signed off it does, better to be at home when you are feeling like that. I doubt your patients would appriciate you being in and I suspect a hspital would be the last place that would make you feel better - all the smells.....

Ah thanks ginaFB. Previous experience of midwifery tells me that multiple pregnancies usually have exacerbated symptoms than singletons so I'm expecting it to get worse before it gets better. Haha, and there I was a couple of weeks ago worried that I didn't have any symptoms at all!!! All you mtb on here worried of having no symptoms, really, enjoy it while it lasts!

tabby I was convinced that I was having twins before I was scanned as I just couldn't stop eating!!! Only one bean in there though for me (and the eating has settled down now)!

Nausea is really kicking in, I have been sitting at my desk doing nothing for the last hour as its taken a lot of self control to hold my breakfast down..... Lucky I am in my own room really!!

tabbycat it was me signed off. Still at home having only ventured out of the house in the past 2 weeks to the local shop round the corner

She put on my cert hyperemesis. I didn't go in to b signed off, just to talk through with her my concerns about work and feeling so rough. I'm glad with hindsight she did, as there's no way I could work at the minute (I think a clincher for her signing me off is that I teach cooking, and there's no way I could be dashing out of lessons to be sick leaving students with boiling pans etc, plus my history with having servere reactions to hormones and problems taking various contraceptive pills) and she thought it's best sign me off from the work places point of view too - wouldn't be very useful for them having some one in and out of work all the time. Working in a hospital I'd say it might be very hard for you feeling so rough and hard for you do do your job effectively (not to mention smells of cleaners etc), and the doc should take that into consideration.

I'm going to try and cheer myself up with watching old movies on film4 today.

Btw - anyone know any good ways to clean the loo without anything vauguely smelly? TMI I know, but our loo stinks and I ahvent' been able to clean it as bleach makes me feel rough and the smell spreads through closed doors throughout the house. Tried flash and didn't do the job.....any natural smell free remedies? I can't leave it like this for over a month!!

forgot to say tabby - doc signed me off for 3 1/2 weeks, but only this length as that's how long it is till the end of term. Not sure what the 'usual' thing is for Doctors to do.

Angels, I think bicarb and vinegar are meant to work well to eliminate smells. Try rubbing the bowl with lemon juice too.

M/S and sore boobs have well and truly graced me with their unwanted presence this morning. Feel like crap!

Have had some awful news today as well, a good friend of mine has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be having the lump removed this week and at least 5 months of chemo . I feel so sad for them, her husband has literally just lost his very close aunt to breast cancer which spread rapidly and ended her life in a very miserable way. They have a 5 month old daughter, I saw them all yesterday and they seemed so strong and jolly - I did not see this coming at all Kinda puts my pg symptoms into perspective, can't stop crying.

chloe that's grim news about your friend, but breast cancer is certainly not the killer it used to be, chemo is awful but once it's done hopefully your friend will be better . Sending you a hug.

Woof! I am feeling rough this morning! I've given up worrying if the wristbands are a giveaway at work and only constantly sipping on fruit juice is stopping me from throwing up .

But as you said, Chloe55, your friend's chemo does kind of put it into perspective. Hope she's better soon.

Hi all,

Ok, after lurking for the whole of the last thread I have finally decided to join! Like another poster said, I am worried I will jinx this pregnancy if I make it 'official' on here!

I used to post on the mc threads under Sakura28 (but then spotted a Sakura on other threads so wanted to avoid confusion!) and after 4 mc's, this is the furthest I've got in a pregnancy - 7+2 today. So due date is 14th feb (i think)

So nice to meet you all, oh and my stats are - #1 East mids(29) 14th feb.

Thanks Professor

So Im 30 and this is my first pregnancy. Pls update

I guess this is going into my ninth week. Sickness has gone off a bit, Im only sick once in the morning and that is it. I find if I keep something in my stomach then I am ok. As soon as it gets empty the nausea creeps up, but as soon as I put something in my mouth it disappears again. Havent felt as tired as I have done over the last three weeks which is nice, I no longer feel as if I am about to faint on my way to work.
Im really scared at the thought of giving birth and I mean petrified...

Hi all,

I'm 30, this is my first and I'm in Bristol.

I'm starting to be really really frightned of being sick. This morning had to stop the excersice I was doing because I became very very faint. RoxyLady, so far I have had only mild nausea (am just 5 weeks) but find the same as you, if I eat something it goes away. That is no so bad I guess...
First GP apointment on Wed. perhaps I should have asked for ante-natal? I'm still at the stage where saying it just feels wrong and unreal.

RoxyLady I'm not too worried about the giving birth, its bringing the baby home that scares me rigid!

Gina, I know I was quite pleased about the Valentines due date, even though I know its not very likely to actually take place on that day!

I too am suffering with the dreaded nausea, no sickness yet, I just have to keep reminding myself that if the nausea went I would be worrying anyway. Hope yours stays as it is and doesn't get worse

Honeywitch I had DD at the Rosie, it's a lovely hospital and the staff are brilliant. I almost did the student scans last time but I was a too busy puking in the end! Hinchingbrooke is closer to me and the new MW unit is finished now (was a building site when DD was due) so I might go there this time. I am toying with the idea of a home birth though...

RoxyLady it's not that bad otherwise I wouldn't be doing it again just make sure you are really prepared, you've got another 8 months! I read the hypnobirthing book and it made me feel a bit more positive about the birth. Don't worry, everyone is scared the first time around but once labour starts you get so focussed that you won't be scared at all.

I've been sick this morning too, I think it was writing the shopping list that did it! I'll be munching on ready salted crisps- not very healthy but defo helps settle my stomach!

Hi all, tested this morning and got a very unexpected positive, am 5 weeks today if I've dated right should be due 28th Feb!!
Dh and I have been trying since Feb and my cycle has been a nightmare. Ovulated three weeks ago then had spotting for 10 days a week later. Thought that was it and my Dh and I decided to leave it for a while and go back on the pill. I felt really sick last week so thought Id use my last test this morning and BAM positive!!
Freaked out at the moment and feeling very very seasick!!!

i agree i was really frightened of giving birth and half hoped i would need a section once i was in labour i wasnt scared any more and couldnt have cared less where the baby ws going to come from as long as i got one at the end of the labour well i got DD out of it and i cant wait to get the chance to do it again...feb cant come soon enough

its good to talk about what it is that scares you about the labour part roxy chnces are there are a few others on here with the same fears

Hate to put a dampener on the good labour stories but I have to say I am absolutely terrified of going through it again. Mine lasted 3 days on and off, bad experience on the pethidine, finally epidural at 9cm coz my dh begged them to give me it as I was having out of body experiences and couldn't coherently communicate for myself! Then ds was a shoulder dystocia with the umbilical cord wrapped round his neck. I didn't bond with him in the loving way I expected to and actually couldn't have cared less if I had died on the birthing bed as that's the road I thought I was heading down which I now know was just through absolute exhaustion and everything being completely out of my control. I have not told this story to scare first timers as I seriously don't want to and know my labour was not the norm but more to express why I am so scared
