Hi All
Sorry I've not posted for a while- I've just caught up!

Knitternottwitter you've beaten me by a day! Funny how the dd changes. So I guess you're now 11+4?

Tabby congratulations on the twins! Fab news! I'm sorry it means twice as many symptoms though

I'm pleased the various scares have been resolved and everything seems ok with peoples scans!

I don't know if anyone has any advice but after 11 weeks of symptomfree pregnancy I've been throwing up since yesterday (Sunday) morning. I can't even keep water down and have lost 5lbs in weight. Is this the reality of MS? Its awful and I have a killer headache too. Am off work for the first time since I had BFP. It's so horrible. Any advice would be fab please? Please!

Thank you all xx

Lulabel They brought my due date earlier when I had DS - but in the end he was born on the date I'd predicted - 4 days late as far as their computer was concerned!! But I think they brought him forward as he was big and they go by the theory that all babies follow identical growth trajectories for the first 3 months. But DS was 10lb 6oz and I refuse to believe that didn't display itself in the early days...!

And sorry to hear that you're feeling so sick all of a sudden... could it be something you've eaten as i would have thought that was quite late for MS to start...

BTW there is also a 'late January 2010' thread. I've posted a quick 'hello' on that but it's much slower moving than this thread (and the stats' aren't as up to date [smug emoticon]!)

Hi ladies, it takes so long to catch up on this thread! and I only read it yesterday.
Thanks for all the advice re:EPU. They were brilliant there, really friendly and caring. I saw a heartbeat and some arm and leg buds... even got a pic!
They don't know why I bled and stopped feeling ms, but they saw nothing wrong.
I am the happiest person today. So good to hear angel had good news too!
It was ridiculously emotional to see the blob wriggling and its heart beating! (blob is the term DH uses...)

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/07/2010 15:15

Knitta great news on your little blob

OP posts:
GinaFB · 12/07/2010 15:36

knittakid great news on seeing blob! Its such a relief when you see the little heartbeat! x

xkatyx · 12/07/2010 18:14

hi, i posted earlier bacause i was worried my sickness had gone so i called the EPU for advice and they told me to come down.

i had a scan and the babys heartbeat was perfect and a little wriggeling baby. all was good.

but they found a small bleed outside the sac they said it was common has anyone else had this?

tadjennyp · 12/07/2010 18:15

Good news knittakid and angels. Yes I had bleeding after sex with my first (and in fact nearly every time afterwards during the last year ) but dd was absolutely fine. My dh wanted to abstain for the first trimester because of this but I managed to persuade him last night and luckily, everything was fine! This thread is fast moving - if I don't log on every day I spend ages catching up. It is nice to have lots of people to chat to, though.

tadjennyp · 12/07/2010 18:17

I think one of my friends had quite a lot of bleeding like that with her ds2 and he was a good weight when he was born. Glad the baby's heartbeat was perfect xkatyx.

xkatyx · 12/07/2010 18:22

thank you, i havent actually bled its just on the scan a small area outside the sac i think they call it subchorionic heamatoma

just another thing to worry about.

Lulabel27 · 12/07/2010 18:39

Great news knittakid and xkatyx it's such a relief to hear everyone is doing ok!

I rang the GP to make sure everything was ok with sudden onset of sickness - I've had to have sip of water every 15 minutes since 3pm but its not stayed down so I've been advised to go to A&E to be rehydrated (put on a drip i think). Seems such an over reaction given i'm sat typing on here and I'd be wasting someone elses A&E space? But I do feel dreadful and haven't kept anything in for 48 hours.... :-(

cler · 12/07/2010 19:25

Hi xkatyx, they saw the same thing on my scan a few weeks ago and i was told not to worry about it but i dont know what its from or much about it, did they explain it to you?

I managed to get a few maternity bits from new look sale today so i will feel so much omfy now. Ive been feeling well sick all day today and thought i was going to puke in the middle of asda which wasnt nice. x

tabbycat76 · 12/07/2010 19:55

Well my mdwife called me this morning and I have my booking appt tomorrow morning - nice and efficient service, great! hopefully my 12 week scan will also come through promptly!

My husband and I are undecided (well actually we differ) on what we'd do given not so good scan results (nuchal). I'm 33 so my risk is higher but I suspect I'd want to terminate if it was DS. Sorry but that's just how I feel. Unfortunately my husband disagrees so i think we have some serious chats ahead so we are well prepared for what to do next if we are given news like that. Scary stuff eh!!?

As for Dopplars - may I suggest a much cheaper version?? Why not wait a few weeks and ask your partner to put his ear to your belly and listen for it. In midwifery they sometimes use ear trumpets (pinards) which do the same job really and it's the most amazing sound! I wonder if Dopplars could make you more anxious if you're not necessarily sure of what you're listening to, ie speed of the HR. It may misleadingly reassure you if that makes sense. Sorry to put a downer on the subject - I guess what works for one may not work for another. I guess they have their place. For fear of putting a dampner on things I'll make a swift exit.....

xkatyx · 12/07/2010 20:11

Hi cler, i dont know what it is from but i read up about it depending on the size i got told mine is small .. which seams to be ok, but the doctor told me it could increase a chance of mc hence while im worrying like a lunatic!!!

But reading it up on the net basically only adds 1% more in risk if its large so if its small im sure all will be ok i really hope.

Have you actually bled?

smallblackflowers · 12/07/2010 20:37

Good to hear that lots of worrying situations have been resolved

I bought an angel sounds doppler in my last pregnancy and really loved the reassurance it gave me, I also understood that it was not a substitute for the reassurance of baby's movements etc. Tried it today but guess its too early to hear anything (think I used it from about 14 weeks last time round).

Well I've certainly not been up for any nookie, the exahaustion and nausea are leaving me feeling very un-sexy. Poor dh will have to hang on for a few more weeks. DD is also not helping with her 5 am waking. I really hope she settles down before I go back to work next week or I don't know how I'll cope.

ledkr · 12/07/2010 20:47

Pre scan nerves today as its tomorrow at 3. imagining no baby or twins and wondering how one goes back to work after twins! also re full bladder I have meeting at 2 then ten min work to hospital So unsure when to start filling up! It's hard working cos I'm in the community and always looking for toilets and food. Today i tried a healthy lunch then ended up wheel spinning into Morrisons on way back from visit and eating a whole pack of Indian snacks in the car park!

gigglet · 12/07/2010 21:59

I'm so envious of those of you further along! Its hard being at the tale end of the month - bit of a worry, I'm getting impatient already

I've started telling people. I told my family on the weekend and it was great, they were so excited it was catchy and felt like I'd only just found out myself.

On the symptoms front, I have a new one today... hemorrhoids! I've never had them before in my life and never even knew they were an issue in pregnancy until I read about it recently...

brockleyD · 12/07/2010 22:22

The symptoms can be so strange, hope they are not too bad gigglet. I am recently having a lot more mini cramps of tingly pains in my uterus area, apparently it's the ligaments growing. Anyone else?

cler · 13/07/2010 07:07

xkatyx, i havnt had any bleeding at all but have had alot of horrid tummy cramps since i found out i was preg. Im 11 weeks now and have my scan in 2 weeks so hopefully all is well and baby is doing good. Its really worrying isnt it and im always worrying of mc but we need to stay positive and not worry for babys sake. I dont know about anyone else but im scared stiff of having sex because of mc.x

xkatyx · 13/07/2010 08:05

yeah i have had the same, lots of tummy cramps.

No im scared to have sex to, i will wait till after 3 months and till that blood has hopefully gone outside the sac.

Yes we have to stay positive we have seen the heartbeat now so that is reassuring

angels1 · 13/07/2010 08:08

Morning ladies,

No more bleeding since the nookie episode I find the whole sex in 1st trimester advice odd - they say it's fine and won't do anything to the baby, but then you read if they think you might be at risk of mc then they might advise you not to have sex, so it sort of feels like maybe there could be something dodgy with it...

I weighed myself this morning. Bad move. I've been eating like nobodys business for the last month as it's the only thing that keeps me feeling vauguely OK. I've put on about 9lbs I'd rather this than loosing weight from being sick alot, which would be really nasty, but I feel like a real heffer already. It's not like I'm eating terrible stuff either - lots of dried toast and marmite, crackers, cornflakes etc, just too much and not having the energy, I haven't been running around like usual. Anyone else having this? Don't really know what I can do about it as if I don't eat as much then I feel really sick. Maybe I should try walking faster/more to burn more calories

brockleyD · 13/07/2010 09:09

Hi angel, I think you are lucky that you have managed to eat do much! I have struggled to eat any quantity of food and fear I have lost wait which can't be good for pip!

Chloe55 · 13/07/2010 10:10

Lulabel - did you go to hospital? I would go if you have been advised, I know how you feel about 'wasting their time' but our babies need nutrients and fluids in order to go and if you can't keep them down then you must have them intravenously - please go.

So nice to hear that all the niggles over the past few days have been ok'd via scans. It seems so many of this thread have had early scans, I thought I might be offered one as I have endometriosis, miscarried before and PCOS and should have been starting fertility treatment this month but I was told I would only get an early scan if I was bleeding and it would mean that I wouldn't get my 12 week scan if I had an early one so decided not to push it.

I feel dreadful with nausea and lightheadedness though, I am hoping that over the next week or two it must ease. I am not actually throwing up that regularly but I just constantly feel sick and it is really getting me down I know it's a good sign but I want it to ease soon.

angels1 · 13/07/2010 10:38

yeah brockley I'm not complaining at being able to eat, although half the time I have to force it down trying not to gag, as I know I'll feel a bit better after, just worried as my mum told me she put on too much weight when she had me as she ate too much and ended up in hospital for weeks before she had me with pre eclamsia (or however you spell it). I pray this nausea doesn't get much worse than it is now - the medicine I am taking takes the edge off enough to feel like I can cope most of the time and it's no longer unbearable nasuea 24/7.

lulabel are you feeling any better today?

giglet It's so frustrating being at the end of the month isn't it? It feels like everyone else is further ahead...I want to be more than 8 weeks to get this rough bit out of the way. Still, at least we get to see what's in store for us in a few weeks and can get advice from people who have just gone through it

as for buying a doppler, think I'll wait until the first trimester is out the way then get looking - I think if I got it too early and then couldn't find anything it would worry me too much , so better to leave it for now I think.

americanexpat · 13/07/2010 11:30

Am I the only one keener than usual for sex? Most of the time I can't be bothered because I'm exhausted but the desire is definitely there. I've also been having some very vivid dreams since about 6 weeks.

angels1 - I commiserate on the weight gain. I'm terrified of gaining too much weight and the complications that can go with it. I finally bought a bathroom scale at 8 weeks so I know what I've gained since then, but I think I was +4 lbs or so before that (part holiday weight, part preg). I saw an unhappy number on Friday so I've been on better behaviour this week.

KnitterNotTwitter · 13/07/2010 11:36

american I had the saucy dreams last time but nothing yet this time. Starting to quite fancy se* again though - might have to mention it to DH....
