angels1 so sorry to hear how you're feeling. IT's hard to know what to say as I know nobody here can make you feel better per se, but hopefully venting a bit helps emotionally even if not physically. Try not to be too hard on yourself about things like feeling useless and crying etc. you're not useless at all, your body is just working really hard on something else right now so other things will have to take a back seat, and people who don't understand, well...they don't understand so their opinion of how you're doing or what you should or shouldn't be doing/feeling isn't really valid.

Feeling like anything I write is going to be utterly inadequate, but didn't want to read and run.

americanexpat · 05/07/2010 10:34

Welcome, hubbard. I don't know how you ladies with children already are managing the first trimester. I can barely drag myself off the sofa right now and can't imagine having another child to care for.

angels1 - I'm sorry you're still feeling so rough and that your mum isn't being very sympathetic. My m/s hasn't gotten worse as the weeks go by, hopefully yours won't either. It should ease after the first trimester. I can't imagine what you're going through and you have my sincere sympathy.

I'll admit to liking a bit of cross stitch as well. I would love to do something for the baby but I find the "traditional" patterns very unappealing. If I can find something with minimal pastel colours, I may have a go.

Deliaskis · 05/07/2010 11:13

Another one putting her hand up for cross stitch, although haven't done any in a while. americanexpat there are some non-pastel baby ones here www.stitcher.co.uk/view-category.asp?category=baby-designs&pageNumber=1 . I've used the company a lot, not for baby things, but for non-traditional style cross-stitch (I love their landscape ones).

I'm back from hols now (a week sailing in Greece ) and have had a weird week food wise. No sickness as such but completely no appetite in the evenings which is odd for me, and a shame that I missed out on lovely Greek food.

This morning, back at work, and have actual nausea for the first time. Am feeling a bit rough, and am sure people at work will start to guess.

Angels, Im abit the same where i was at the gym constantly before i was preg and watched what i eat but since being preg ive been so sick and exhausted and dizzy and i to find eating constantly makes it abit better but then i feel really fat and guilty. Im 10 weeks now so im hoping it will pass soon and i can get back to the gym and healthy eating. I hope you feel better soon.xx

Lulabel27 ? can?t believe trailfinders are being so shitty. You could easily not have had the baby by 10th Feb ? or be recovering from a cesarean etc etc? would a note from your doctor help persuade them?

linz17xxx ? Oooo re your Booking in appointment, does it feel good to be in the system? Mine is on Friday? DH has taken the whole day off to come along with me! He didn?t come last time so I?m really pleased.

Rundmc ? really sorry to hear your news ? fingers crossed for the future

Knittakid ? it?s never too soon to start knitting for the new one?! My first project for Bean2 is going to be these: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kanoko-pants

Professor - love that apple trees blanket ? have added it to my queue on Ravelry ? I try not to believe in jinx?s

ledkr sorry I was away for the weekend so couldn?t get my magic spreadsheet to up date the stats ?.

PandaEis - yes it was me who can feel little ?flutters? ? still can and I?m still convinced it?s the baby

hubbard86 Welcome? and thanks for filling a gap in our dates ? I?ve got a little competition going with myself to see if we can have a complete set of ladies? the remaining ?free? date is the 27th of Feb?.!

angels1 sorry to hear you?re still struggling. Fingers crossed the clouds will start to lift soon. You?re always welcome to rant on here ? we don?t mind at all

When I was pregnant with DS I got itchy feet and thighs annoyingly it?s started again already ? the only ?cure? was not to itch it ? and reflexology seemed to help? I?ve also been having hectic dreams ? very vivid and a bit lurid.. no erotic dreams this pregnancy yet though ? that was 2nd trimester for me!

Updated stats below - I've fixed a little bug in the days+weeks calculation too so I think everyone is correct now!

As of 11:27 Mon-05-Jul we're 105 people!!

knitter you can put me down as g for guitar I am not patient enough for any of the other things!

angels sorry you are feeling so rough, ms is no joke and I think a lot of people don't realise how rubbish it can be. Everyone thought I was making a fuss over nothing the first time around until I showed them all the burst blood vessels on my face. Hang in there, it will improve. For now just take it easy and eat whatever you fancy, if you do fancy anything.

americanexpat it is tricky to cope with pregnancy and a toddler but fortunately DD is teething at the mo so she's taking mammoth naps. I've been joining in with quite a few!

KnitterNotTwitter · 05/07/2010 11:47

sweetnitanitro gosh - IMO guitar takes WAAY mor patience... Because you have to practice for ages before you see any results... at least with knitting you can see something appearing from day 1...

DH is teaching himself guitar at the moment but he has the sort of personality that can do that... He just sits down for half an hour every night with his 'Guitar for dummies' and strums away - so impressive. And in a scene of total domestic bliss I sit next to him with my knitting.... distracting him as I grumble about dropped stitches, want to show off my cabling etc etc...!

My stats are wrong I think. I'm 8+3 today - cna I ask the lovely person who is doing them to change me? thank you

ledkr · 05/07/2010 12:55

Angels it may help you to know that despite having no ms so far i am really struggling with it this am.I am at work where they fortunatley know but i can really sympathise with you today and everyone else who is suffering. I must have said "i feel sick" ten times already. Went to shop and bought lucozade and crisps but didnt help in fact eating is not helping at all.I am taking some strange reassurance from it tho as i have been getting worried about having an empty womb at the scan next week. Why dont you tell friend so you can at least speak to one person.I am keeping quiet too but have told my best friends as i figured if something went wrong i would need them anyway for support. It is killin me not to tell my dd tho.
As for the gym/weight thing i couldnt agree more. I am eating crap and have put on so much weight my bum and thighs look gross. I am really going to try and excercise more(swimming)but as for the diet this is my philosphy-its only 9 months and then can join ww or slimming w after and will be busy with baby so easier to diet. Gym will come in time as well also was thinking healthy food would be more tempting in 2nd trimester-dont know about you but when i feel sick the last thing i fancy is an apple.Chins up !!

sweetnitanitro · 05/07/2010 13:06

knitter, I gave up on knitting, it took me hours and hours just to do a few rows of a scarf. It's just too fiddly for me, I kept dropping stitches everywhere. I come from a musical family so maybe guitar comes more easily to me than knitting!

I still feel a bit sick but nowhere near as bad as last time. DH will be attempting to make spag bol tonight though, with me shouting instructions from the living room I don't feel up to cooking which is annoying because I usually love to cook

GinaFB · 05/07/2010 13:13

Hello all,

I've had a bit of a break from my PC for the last week or so! I have lots of catching up to do!

angels1 I'm sorry you are feeling so low & miserable, the first 12 weeks are the worst, it will get better. I am eating lots and feel like a whale. Just remember that if you are hungry or having to eat to cope with MS that its your body telling you that the baby needs something, there is a reason for it, and its allowed! Its not you just eating for the sake of it!!

I'm afraid I'm not a knitter or x stitch! I make & sell jewellery. I started after we lost our baby to Spina Bifida earlier in the year and I give some of the profits to a Spina Bifida Charity. I might try a x stitch sampler once we have gotten past 20 weeks as I think it would look lovely in the nursery! Can anyone suggest a good one for a beginner?!

I am going to meet my Midwife on Wed for the booking in appt. I am also hoping to hear somethign about a scan date. I have been advised that I will be seen as close to 11 weeks as possible and FMU will do my scans but as of yet I've not heard anything. I am terrified that I will get there and there will not be a heartbeat.

Apologies for the huge long ramble! Love to all up the duff xxx

PandaEis · 05/07/2010 13:31

hi all

i have had some spotting last night and this morning its mostly (TMI) brown and mucousy but when i last went the toilet it was on the pad where before it was when i wiped! bleeding in preg has never been a good sign for me so im quietly freaking out

sorry for those having MS! iv still got the nausea and heartburn has started aswell so we will see tomorrow if nothing more happens today.

ledkr · 05/07/2010 13:36

oh no panda you must be really worried its so unfair when you bleed and you have a history of mc it happened to me withdd and she was ok(big red bleed at 12 weeks)and my friend has bled with her pg but she is now 24 weeks and all well, have a little rest stay positive and keep us all posted..sending you good vibes over the internet xxxxxxxxxx

Deliaskis · 05/07/2010 13:54

I also have by first mw appointment tomorrow, so keen to find out my scan date. But also, like lots terrified that will get there to discover all is not well. No real reason to think that, but big sis had a mmc and so it is a little at the forefront of my mind, although I know the risk is small.

I am however feeling symptomy today though, so that is reassuring, although unpleasant!

Crossed fingers and well wishes to all those pg, especially those with worries.

Dx

leelteloo · 05/07/2010 14:01

oh PandaEis I'm thinking of you hugs. Also Angels, thats sounds so tough, when I had MS with DD I was desperate and people said sucking sweets helped, I looked on Amazon and there are things called preggy pops, I don't know if they are better than normal sweets but they helped me, I just sucked on one when it got really bad. Also things like tv, reading, lights, cars journeys all made it 10 x worse, so if you have to just chill in a quiet room and relax then don't feel bad about it, you need to do what ever it takes to feel a bit better. Fingers crossed your over the worst of it.

angels1 · 05/07/2010 14:07

thanks all for your comments, really helped. pandaeis I keep my fingers crossed and feel really bad for moaning about ms now, I'm so sorry for everyone if I was being unsensitive.

I had a bit of potato for lunch, and tried to wash it down with a side of ketchup, which backfired Just tried a hot cross bun, and for some reason it tasted of plastic - had to spit it out - what's that all about ??!!

Well, half way through the day, so soon will be 7+1 instead of 7, which is one step closer to the next trimester....talk about counting down the hours!

angels1 · 05/07/2010 14:10

ginafb I got my cross stitch sampler from a kit which I imagine I got from John Lewis or local sewing shop, but I expect you could find a pattern online for free and just buy the bits seperately, I just find it easier to do big projects from a kit as it's all there ready. It did take me several months to do though!

KnitterNotTwitter · 05/07/2010 14:24

BrownPaperandString just checking your stats.... If you are on 8 + 3 then your due date would be 11th Feb... But in the stats you're down as Tues 15th Feb.... Is that wrong?

I worked out the weeks and days thing but taking 40 weeks off everyone's due date to calculate a 'base date' - i.e. first day of last period, assuming a 28 day cycle. Yours is calculated as 11th May. (Adding 14 days on gives a 'concieved date' - which for you is the 25th of May....) The days + weeks is then calculated as the number of days from the 'base date' to today's date....

Does that help?

Oooh and while you're posting fancy telling us your age and location???

OP posts:
KnitterNotTwitter · 05/07/2010 14:27

Panda fingers crossed this is a false alarm and just your body freaking the wibbles out of you for no reason at all...

OP posts:
applecharlotte · 05/07/2010 15:06

Hello ladies,

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering with MS. I was totally wiped out by it over the weekend (really bad nausea not puking thank god) but feel a bit perkier today.

angels - poor you you're really going through it. As someone has already said, just be kind to yourself and take it easy. There's nothing wrong with having a cry and a good 'ol moan. Feel better soon.

panda - sorry to hear about the spotting, it must be so scary I'm keeping everything crossed for you. Again, be kind to yourself.

I went for a early preg scan last Thursday at Babybond and would really recommend it to anyone who can afford (I justified it by all the bottles of wine I haven't bought over the past couple of months!).

I thought I was 7+6 but measurements showed I was actually 8+3 which makes me exactly 9 weeks today! Knitter - if you don't mind would you update my stats? I'm now due on the 7th Feb, oh and chinese predictor things reckons I'm having a girl! I would love a girl but for some reason am convinced its a boy.

Anyway, just to let you know about the scan, it was a great experience. Like others I was dubious there would be anything there. To be honest what I saw was pretty blob like but to see the flickering heart beat was amazing. Even better though was hearing a nice strong heart beat. It was pretty overwhelming to be honest. Ladies, our bodies are truly amazing, I felt very proud of us all!

OH was very matter of fact about it all, I'm pleased he's not freaking out or worrying about things but sometimes I wish he'd be a bit more expressive! TBH I think he's trying not to get too excited until after 12 weeks. Well thats what i'm hoping.

So far only my sister knows, but tonight i'm going to meet my best friend who is 6 months pregnant to tell her which I'm very excited about.

I've very impressed with you knitters, how lovely to be able to make your LO clothes. Right I've blabbed on for far too long. Have an good afternoon. Really enjoying reading all your posts x

PS one last thing. I have my booking appointment at 12+3! So I imagine my scan is going to be nearer 14 weeks.. anyone else think they are going to get scanned late? I don't want to miss the nuchal scanning window which is 13+6 but I spose the midwife will talk to me about this at the booking appointment?

americanexpat · 05/07/2010 15:11

Panda - here's hoping everything is OK. Brown is better than red. I had very similar spotting around 5.5 weeks (brown and mucousy) that stopped within a few hours but it was still nerve wracking. Something like 70% of women have some bleeding during pregnancy, but that didn't stop me from going out of my head with worry.
