Just starting up the new thread in anti-natal groups. Will cross post with the old thread and updated the stats in a moment!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KnitterNotTwitter · 05/07/2010 15:57

applecharlotte as your dates have moved earlier it might be worth phoning your midwife service and asking them whether your scan is going to be too late... Might be worth asking for piece of mind...?

OP posts:
applecharlotte · 05/07/2010 16:03

Yes I did think about that but was worried about making a fuss. Silly really. I will call them on wednesday when I have the day off.

KnitterNotTwitter · 05/07/2010 16:07

Slightly tweaked my stats spreadsheet and wanted to post it to check it still formats sensibly.. no change to the actual data though! Any thoughts on the new version - I've moved the date column to the beginning which should make it all line up a bit more tidily!!

Stats as of 16:04 Mon-05-Jul . We're now 105 people!!

OMG... while I've been fiddling with our stats spreadsheet I was aware that I was sort of itching one of my feet with the other one.... Just looked down and it's really bleeding.... I think I'm going to have to take myself off to the doctors and get something to stop the itching as that 'aint good... Don't like medicating though - wish I knew what was causing it...

applecharlotte · 05/07/2010 16:33

Ooh nasty. There must be some sort of cream they can give you. Have you had a google? Might be info about itching in pregnancy..

KnitterNotTwitter · 05/07/2010 16:47

Google suggests Tea Tree oil in the bath and as i have some of that at home I'll give it a whirl tonight... it look like it is caused by being sensitive to the extra oestrogen my body is producing at the moment - agggg.

Hi KnitterNotTwitter - Don't want to cause unnecessary worry, but my midwife did say that if I had any excessive itching, to see the doctor as it can be a sign of problems.

Itching is common (and usually harmless) in pregnancy, but excessive itching can be a warning (tho' I can't remember what of - sorry ) so it's worth getting it checked out, even though it's probably nothing.

angels1 · 05/07/2010 17:35

knitter I read that you can make a paste from baking soda and water and put it on your feet to help the itching. All this talk of itching feet is making my feet feel itchy

Have just spoken to my doc re: sickness med and she's putting me on another one. Not sure which one yet as picking up the prescription (or should I say pleading for DH to go when he gets out of the shower for me) but fingers crossed this helps a little better

knittakid · 05/07/2010 18:08

Hello all, is it normal for ms to come and go? past two days were horrible and today I feel fine... after feeling awful I am now really worried.

Chloe55 · 05/07/2010 18:14

Angels you really sound like you are getting the lion's share of ms I do hope you feel better soon.

I have been getting more headaches recently but have had a banging head ache ALL day despite necking paracetamol every 4 hours (which I am not keen to do but don't know how else to function). Any miracle cures ladies?

canoe · 05/07/2010 18:19

Hello ladies,

angels really sorry to hear you're feeling so awful. I don't really have any advice, but didnt want to ignore you!

knittakid I've been wondering that too. I'd had not so much morning sickness as all day queasiness until wednesday, and then nothing really. I was starting to get a bit worried, but it's back today with a vengeance so i reckon it's ok.

I've just booked my ultrasound scan for the 14th. I'll be 10 weeks then, so hopefully that will put my mind at rest, but now i'm worried they won't find anything, it's all in my head etc!!

DP is away at the moment, and i'm struggling to eat in the evenings, i just don't really have an appetite. I used to do loads of cooking, i really enjoyed it, but now the thought of food make me feel ill. I'm also being v anti social, it's hard cos loads of people are inviting me round for dinner etc as they know i'm on my own at the moment, but i just don't feel like going, and i'm going to bed at about 9pm! I'm hoping they'll understand in a couple of weeks though when we tell them, after the scan.

Sorry, v long post. Hope everyone else is feeling ok

tadjennyp · 05/07/2010 18:24

Hello, haven't been on for a while as I have been away camping. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer and all the MS symptoms subside soon. Could do with a bit more energy myself!

hubbard86 · 05/07/2010 19:21

thanks for all the welcomes guys ,
Severe itching can be a symptom of a problem with your liver but normally only develops towards the end of pregnancy. Don't want to scare u though knitter.
It's nice 2 see so many crafty people. I crochet have made plenty of little bits am now workin on a blanket for little one. Made one for ds1 whilst pregnant. Helps take my mind off ms. Had my booking in appointment last thurs as had gestational diabetes with my 1st pregnancy so will be closely monitered with this 1. Already had one lot of fasting bloods the day after the darling midwife took about a pint of blood. Was on quite high doses of insulin towards the end which led 2 induction and an emergency c-section so i am more scared that something might go wrong with this one than i was with ds1.
Sorry for such a long post just needed to vent
P.s i'm 24 and from west mids

leelteloo · 05/07/2010 19:26

Hi Knitternottwitter, I had really bad itching at one period when preg with DD and did all sorts of research about what I could take/do about it. I found that usually like you said its the skin just becoming super sensitive due to preg, cool bath/shower not hot, only use e45 to moisturise and sanex ultra mild to wash with, cut out fabric softener from your washing and use a sensitive washing powder such as ecover. If itching gets really really bad and you get an actual rash you should see DR as it can mean that some of the babies fluids are crossing placenta and you are reacting against it. My friend had this in late preg, don't think it is at all common early on.
Hope that helps.

Breezey · 05/07/2010 19:35

So exciting to see the calendar, I'm not sure about appointments yet. Have all day Nausea, ended up eating condensed milk in desparation, now terrified of gestational diabetes. Also rediculously exhusted, and tearful! Had people round 'till after midnight 2 of 3 nights, so had to go to bed at 7.30 last night to catch up. Also feel very grumpy. For stats, I'm 38 and live overseas, (at least we don't have heat to contend with at the moment)

wigglesrock · 05/07/2010 19:53

Hey all, looking for some advice, reassurance again Am 8 weeks with 3rd child sooo sick, constant nausea even when sleeping! also actual sickness, GP prescribed cyclizine, know am being a bit panicky but worried about taking them , my mum was offered thilidamide (sorry bad speller) when she was pregnant, refused but story always stuck with us. Also heard can make you feel drowsy and can't really afford to be, 2 small children, dh works shifts. May try and hold out a bit longer but am not really eating and slightly worried about hydration. Apologies for long post.

debka · 05/07/2010 20:22

Hello all,

Another one struck down with MS here, WAY worse than with DD. Today I only managed to eat Rice Krispies, which as everyone knows are are made only of air so don't really count as food.

Angels I'd come and see you and cheer you up if we lived a bit closer.

wiggles I don't know about anti-sickness drugs but I'm sure someone who does will be along soon.

knitter love the new style stats!!

linz17xxx · 05/07/2010 20:28

Its exciting being in the system knitter however they have referred me to a consultant and I have to see him this friday! Its very worrying as they phoned me today with the appointment which makes me wonder if something has shown up in my blood tests. They have referred me because I have an under active thyroid but I haven't been on medication for a year so I don't understand why are making such a big deal about it

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 05/07/2010 20:29

Eating condensed milk won't give you GD. And it would be very unlikely to come on this early. They don't even routinely test for it until 28 weeks (in the UK) and I've not heard of it before about 15 weeks.

I had GD last time (borderline fail on GTT) so I'm assuming that I'll be either a borderline pass or a borderline fail this time. Either way I'm planning to eat what I like for the first trimester or so and then switch to a low GI diet to keep my blood sugar under control.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 05/07/2010 20:30

Darn, I really want to eat condensed milk now...

Breezey · 05/07/2010 20:34

Thank you Prof L for your reassurance, certainly find sweet things help with MS, but think often there is just nothing that seems v. appealing

ledkr · 05/07/2010 20:38

Hi girls. my mate had cyclezine dd now 8. headaches common too I used to cry w/th mine. How about those cold strip things for forehead. I can't even speak on phone after 8 just cant be bothered. poor dh is walking on egg shells I am so irritable.so hard when got other kids. I am working all day tmw then pick up dd then straight home make picnic then off to brownies which is normally my 90 mins peace but have to help tomorrow. won't be home till 7. 30 will be dead on my feet by then as normally bed by 8

wigglesrock · 05/07/2010 20:49

Thanks ledkr, agree about being so hard when you have other children, mine are 5 and 2 so you can't even disappear to the toilet for a silent boak!! My eldest is already off school for the summer and although she is very good, keeps torturing me to take her on long and exhausting (for me) trips!!

PandaEis just read earlier posts, fingers and everything crossed, thinking of you tomorrow

angels1 · 05/07/2010 21:20

wiggles I've been pescribed cyclezine (or however you spell it). Was on avomine but didn't really help, so am trying this.

I was really scared by the side effects etc when I got it, but will try and see if it helps. Took my first one about 1/2hr ago, so will keep you updated. I posted a thread on the pregnancy bit of this site to see if anyone else has taken, so mightr be worth you loking through the responses?? Hope it works. The avomine really zoinked me out, so I guess I'm used to feeling drugged (!) but will let you know how this leaves me.

wigglesrock · 05/07/2010 21:40

angels1 - hi, thanks found you on other thread!! Have spoken to a few friends who have used it, and it worked for most of them! I mentioned on the other thread that the actual sickness doesn't bother me as much as the feeling of nausea, this is my 3rd child and whilst I was actually sick with the previous two, have never had this awful, pervading feeling of nausea before, no jokes about twins please On the other post people mentioned that it stopped the sickness but not the nausea so I might hold off for a few weeks if I can, good luck, hope it helps and let me know how you are doing.
