Just starting up the new thread in anti-natal groups. Will cross post with the old thread and updated the stats in a moment!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Morning all. I had another rough night, couldn't stay asleep. At least DD was right next to me so I had something nice to look at Much sympathy to all those with insomnia, I had it really bad the first time around too. I might try a hypnotherapy CD or something.

anyone else have an aching jaw? it feels like the day after i got married, when my jaw hurt from smiling so much . this time, however, I'm convinced it's just the extra chomping i'm doing having to eat all the time to make me manage to most of the time feel vauguely (and only vauguely!) normal.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/07/2010 10:24

Maybe this would help?

Chloe55 · 02/07/2010 10:32

Ooh that's interesting re the jaw pain - never even heard of that!

angels1 · 02/07/2010 10:36

thanks professorlayton that's really useful - glad it's not just me, and I will now be looking ridiculous to anyone walking past the house as I'm sitting with my tongue out! Feel like I'm autitioning to be on a timmy mallet show by doing my 'blurrrrr' impression (if anyone else grew up watching timmy mallet, they might remember this!!)

sweetnitanitro · 02/07/2010 10:37

My jaw's OK but my ankles have been really clicky and my knees feel twisty if that makes any sense My hips were the worst last time, I couldn't walk much for a couple of weeks. Hope that doesn't happen this time!

PandaEis · 02/07/2010 10:40

i have never heard of jaw pain in preg but i have had it on and off for about 2 weeks and thought i just needed to go the dentist! how interesting!!

Diamondback · 02/07/2010 10:53

I went to the Russell Brand movie - it was really funny (probably a bit late now though).

Chloe, you should really see the doctor. I had my booking in appt with the midwife yesterday and, when I asked her what was safe to take for hayfever, she didn't know and told me to ask the GP. You can't carry on like this - you sound mega-stressed.

Also found out that I might have to have a caesarean as I have a bent spine - humph.

americanexpat · 02/07/2010 11:03

cler - I get pains in my tummy as well, but they're usually bowel-related as someone else mentioned. Things aren't moving quite as smoothly as they did pre-preg. I start to worry with every little twinge as well.

I tried to force myself to eat a bit healthier yesterday - which led to gagging while eating cherry tomatoes and an apple. Decided I'd had enough and went back to toast for my tea. I did manage to put down an entire 200g punnet of cherries this morning though.

smallblackflowers · 02/07/2010 11:06

my website www.folksy.com/shops/littlerosebud
Its just a hobby really - I enjoy making stuff and thought I'd have a go selling it. Folksy is a great website for picking up original items for presents etc, so worth having a nose at the whole lot!

ledkr · 02/07/2010 11:18

professor just phoned the centre they were really nice. Think i am going to go for it.Whta was your experience of it?my risk is quite high at 43 but they said it could come down with scan and bloods and they do sem to do more detailed tests dont they. Am meeting some resistance from dh who is an ostrich and worried about risk of mc. Mw told us yeaterday that amnio is less risk but i cant find that online it seems to be the same risk but it will all be a bit later and the resulting procedure ie miscariage or termination more traumatic.I just looked up the Dr and he seems very kosha dh would have sen that too had he hauled his arse off the sofa grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I just let out some tension and gave him a ood ear bashing. Do you have anything to share with me i am drowning in it all at the moment. Went onto the choices and tests thread but its all so terrifyin i had to get off it before i cracked up.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/07/2010 11:37

I've only been there for a viability scan before but they were lovely, nice environment, very friendly staff, top notch equipment.

I think the figures that used to be quoted were a higher risk for CVS than for amnio but IIRC the CVS odds have come down now that it's a more mature test and specialists have more experience with it. TBH if I had a high risk result and wanted to go for one or the other it would be CVS. You're not committing to having a CVS or an amnio by having a nuchal scan and bloods done -- there's no risk of mc with those and they may well show that your risk level is pretty low compared to your base age-related risk.

angels1 · 02/07/2010 12:05

Love your collection sbf, infact, so glad you gave that website as they've got lots of lovely handmade gifts - I'm sensing this could be a good source for christmas pressies when I'm too big to be bothered to shop

Knitter you're so organised!! 28 Jan is my MIL and step daughters birthday!! I hope its not then but I suppose it does make more sense - am I ok to stay on here pleeaaasse!?

It sounds like we're all getting a lot more symptoms and definitely more hormonal! Only another 7 months of it to look forward to!

sbf I love your website, thanks for posting that

Start of Rant- Have been having a very cross discussion with Trailfinders at the moment as was due to go on Honeymoon on 10th February and obviously now, can't! Deposit of £800 (!) paid and rang up to say we won't be paying the full amount as can't go. Visa said they'll refund the deposit for me if Trailfinders say its unreasonable for me to go on holiday (to Tokyo and Great Barrier Reef) but Trailfinders won't refuse me travel on 10th Feb!! They say I can take the infant with me!!! This means Visa are saying they can't reimburse me as Trailfinders will still provide me "with the product" AAGGHH!! So cross!!! -Rant Over--

angels1 · 02/07/2010 14:39

lulabel - but if you go overdue, isn't it theoratically possible you won't yet even be out of hospital by then?? That sucks. Is there any way you could get a Doctor's/midwife note to explain how it just won't work which will make trailfinders see sense?

Whenever I've had difficulties with consumer things, I always ring 'consumer direct' (don't have the number, but should be easy to find in search engine). They tell you what your legal rights are and what to do next. It's free (bar the cost of the call) as it's run by the govt. Don't give up on that deposit!! They would probably tell you to write a letter to head office, but they will tell you what laws etc to quote. Whenever they've help me construct letters etc in the past, it's always worked, so don't think you'll never get that deposit back.

I can't think of a less romantic honeymoon than one a few days after giving birth, all those hormones going around your body, still bleeding, new baby crying at all hours, with a long flight/jet lag etc etc. But, on another note, I have now started dreaming of a holiday to Tokyo and the Great Barrier Reef...mmm, yes, I'd quite like to be there right now (assuming I was feeling human that is)...great choice of location, would have been very envious one of these days I'll manage to tread further than Europe (the furthest I've ever managed is Italy as I'm not great at flying)

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/07/2010 15:03

Which airline are your Trailfinders tickets with? Worth checking how they are about babies (some won't carry them at only a few days old). How are Trailfinders suggesting that you get a passport for your baby, given that it might only have been born a couple of days beforehand? (I think that you can't use emergency appointments for children's first passports)

angels1 · 02/07/2010 15:12

I'm now 6 1/2 weeks and thinking about paying for an early scna (just for reassurance after a mc last year). Does anyone have an opinion on how many weeks along is a good time to go? I think my local NHS do them at 12 - 14 weeks, but this seems so long to wait! I'm seeing my GP again at 8 weeks, so was thinking after I've seen her (and asked if NHS can give me an early one...with the expected response of 'no')I will make an appointment. Don't want to go before 8 weeks as think the longer I leave it the more there will be to see , but at the same time, the earlier I go the quicker my mind will be put at rest (although I know I won't yet be out of the woods). Any recommendations from your past experience as to at what point is the most useful to go?

On the plus side, I'm now past the point of my last mc, so at least have progressed further than I've ever managed glass of champagne anyone? Oh no, best not, I'll save that for Feb

cler · 02/07/2010 15:36

I got my scan appointment today which will be 27th July. I thought i would of had it sooner than that but i suppose the baby will be clearer on the picture the further along i am. My tummy is feeling a little bit better but still abit of pain there. I think i will have another early night.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/07/2010 17:24

If you're getting an NHS scan at 12-14 weeks I'd probably go at around 9 weeks. I planned to go at 9 weeks last time but ended up with some spotting so panicked and moved it forwards to 8 weeks.

ledkr · 02/07/2010 17:28

Cler my tummy was killing me earlier on and i thought of you. I was quite concerned but without giving too much info away it was resolved later on in the smallest room!!!i have just gone to local shop and was really struggling not to trump all the way around haha. Never had wind before in pg. I have been avoiding fizzy drinks but have just cooked a chilli but only put half a tin of beans in or ill be flying around the room later like a balloon.Feel most unatractive at the moment-look fat but not pregnant, wind and belches, shiney red face due to heat and my hair which is usually a sleek bob is a big fluffy boufant.I have just ordered those trouser extenders off the net to hopefully continue to look non pregnant untill after my tests as am keeping it hush till then.Good job tunic tops are in fashion.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/07/2010 17:32

Oh, Lord, yes, I had terrible trapped wind last pregnancy (not so much the first time). It really hurt

cler · 02/07/2010 17:50

Ledkr i have found all my jeans are to tight round my tummy now. Ive taken to the tunic tops and leggins which is realy comfy then i will prob invest in one pair of nice maternity jeans when my tummy gets bigger. I love chilli but my husband hates it so i can never have that. Ive been craving loads of rubbish food this week which isnt good because i dont want to gain back all the weight ive just lost. Ive been trying to drink more water to see if that helps my tummy. x

linz17xxx · 02/07/2010 18:05

Hi all, been for my booking in appointment today. My midwife is absolutely lovely. She really put my mind at ease about my tilted womb too. Started to tell a few people at work today as they will probably start guessing with all the nausea and diarhoea I keep getting still not feeling much better in that respect and finding work hard when i'm feeling so ill
