Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PandaEis · 01/07/2010 18:04

angels i would call the GP back TBH i went when i was preg with DD with a water infection and as it was recurrent they kept giving me antibiotics. well when i went after about the 100th app about the infections one of the GPs prescribed me an antibiotic that was very dangerous for pregnancy and it even stated it on the packaging when i went to pick them up the pharmacist told me to speak to my dr and refused to give me the antibiotics!

so long story short... i would say call GP

PandaEis · 01/07/2010 18:06

sweetnitanitro thats nice congrats to your SIL!! one of my best work friends is preg and due end of feb so a couple of weeks behind and she only found out the other day i have been bugging gently encouraging her to join MN

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 01/07/2010 18:18

My SIL is due in November, so I may need to borow back the baby clothes I've lent her when she's done with them...

ledkr · 01/07/2010 18:48

Hi all god we are not happy today are we.Chloe my dh was crap until 2 weeks ago when i actually broke down in bed and told him how worried i was about everything-pregnant at 43 downs risk change of life style and plans being left on my own again etc etc. I actually shocked myself was hyperventilating and swearing like a navi.He was speechless. The next day he had changed and took us away for the weekend. I think he was scared cos i said i was unsure about carrying on with it. As for the stag do, store it up in your head. Not pregnant forever. You will be due a nice little girls holiday next year i feel. What can he say?
Saw midwife today she is fab.Spoke about my worries(did take dh)and its not as simple as i thought.CVS is risky and 700 pounds!!Even nucal fold scan is 180 and only gives probability. Free test is accurate and amnio free but i feel that is so late.We came away feeling very different and aggreed to be more positive and not expect the worse midwife said lots of older women shes looked after have healthy babies. To those of you who doubted if to take dh i can say i honestly feel like its now our worry and not mine. Its halved the worry and reminded me i am not on my own with it all.
Anyway we have been referred for a consultant appointment at 10 wks which is a week and half away. She also felt my tummy was slightly bigger than average(shes telling me) but could not get heartbeat on sonic aid so unlikely i am further on but just big.Phew lots to tell.

Chloe55 · 01/07/2010 19:29

Ledkr - strange how all the gps/midwives/hospitals work differently, the midwife said today that my hospital offer a nuchal fold ultrasound at 12 weeks. I'm not entirely sure I am going to have it (it is optional) as it isn't 100% accurate anyway. Oh and would you believe this year I do actually have 3 hen do's!!! We have a big group of very close friends and most of them have decided to get married this year which is really rather considerate as it has meant we have to miss out on our own holiday as they will all skint us. And, to top it off I will be bloody sober for them which I am not looking forward to at all! God, I sound like a right miserable bitch

Angels, your meds sound like heaven to me - antisicky and sleepy mmmmmmmm

On a more serious note, have just been for a wee and have blood stain on my knickers , it's not a lot and I know it can be normal (and I did in fact spot in my first pg) however it has still given me a bit of a scare as I miscarried at 7 weeks before. I hope I don't bleed anymore, I don't think my mind could take it.

Chloe55 · 01/07/2010 19:30

I meant inconsiderate obviously doh!

angels1 · 01/07/2010 19:43

fingers crossed the spotting is nothing to panic about chloe. Sounds like hopefully nothing as you had it last time. Srill I guess itmust make you feel a little stressed.

Since mentioning to DH the Doc joked it could be twins (as I feel so rubbish) he's got really excited at the possibility - bless him. I think it's as I keep saying 'I can't go through this again, we'll have to be an only child family' and he keeps saying 'let's wait and see'. I think we have no chance of twins, s will be a shame to dissapoint him when we find that out

I'm struggling to keep my eyes open. Exhausted pregnant lady + increased dose of sedatives to help with sickness = lady nearly fally asleep whilst standing up!

ledkr · 01/07/2010 19:48

yes it is strange how all differnt and very unfair too. I know of a girl in our town who has had gastric band and boob job on nhs so im glad they got their priorities right eh!!
I am really strugging with concept of night out without drink which is worrying and a bit sad!Nothing seems as good sober i missed few beers in world cup and still got birthday to go and xmas and new year. I joked that i may pack mini bottle of champagne in my hospital bag to have after the birth.Even today after mildly stressfull midwife app i said to dh that if not preg then would have got drunk tonight but obviously if not preg would not have worry in first place.teehee peoples weddings get on my nerves and stag and hens are getting more ridiculous. My dh will be probably asked to be best man soon but i dont know any of the other people who will go so he will be on top table and ill be sat on my own like a mug!I just wont go im sure i can find an excuse. My mate wanted to do a week in ibiza but loads of us said couldnt afford the cost or the leave and dh would have to take week off to have dd.So didnt go.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 01/07/2010 20:06

Here we get free nuchal scan and if that turns you up high risk then you get offered free CVS/amnio as well. But it shouldn't be £700 -- the Fetal Medicine Centre in London (which is one of the world's leading specialist centres in nuchal scanning and CVS) do a nuchal test plus CVS package for £450. If someone is trying to charge you £700 then they are just taking the piss. I might opt to have my nuchal there this time (£150 for nuchal alone without CVS) instead of the NHS one because they take a lot more factors into consideration (and because if I did wind up having a CVS I'd rather have it at the FMC).

varicoseveined · 01/07/2010 21:07

Am shattered and have been nauseous but only been sick a couple of times. Feel a lot better now I had a lie down for half an hour or so as DD's asleep.

I've been ravenous but fill up really quickly then get indigestion . And according to the Wii Fit (we don't have bathroom scales) I've gained 5lbs in just over a month!

TMI warning

Anyone else been pooing more than usual? I've not had the runs but I must have gone about 3-4 times today!

pipsicles · 01/07/2010 21:47

Evening all!

I've just updated my stats - hope I haven't messed it up!

We went for our '12 week' scan yesterday and I was right - we were 8 weeks on the dot, so that's changed my EDD by one day. I am a tiny bit disappointed that we are not further along (only because that would mean I'd be at the end of 1st tri sooner, but of course, wouldn't want to leave you lovely lot!).

It was absolutely amazing and I was so happy to see the little heart beat thudding away! The sonographer said I have a womb that's tilted backwards(keep forgetting what it's called!), so she had to use THE PROBE! Although it felt rather bizarre, I forgot what was actually happening because it was so exciting and it meant that we got an amazing picture of our little Peawee - I think it looks like a baby already! So because our dates were 'wrong' we get to go back in another four weeks for the 12wk scan. I'm beginning to wonder whether I might just have to make sure I have 'wrong' dates the second time around if it means we get an early scan!!!

She also saw the corpus luteum, which she said was on my right side and that is where my egg came from. I told DH weeks ago that if anything came of this cycle it would be from the right side because I could feel it - how crazy is that?!

We've been telling everyone now and showing off our little picture. Newdad you made me laugh about the sandwich guy because I told my optician when I picked up new sunglasses after the scan!!!

Cpc predicts me a boy, but like smallblackflowers I think I'm having a girl (no idea why, other than the 'science' I suppose and all my friends with babies have girls), but DH loves the idea of a little boy first, then a girl, so she can have a protective older brother! He should know by now that these things don't always work out the way we want!

Hope you're all well.

Been up again since 3am , sleep is looking like something I 'used' to be good at.

Pops- congrats on the scan, sounds like you had a lovely experience

Oh and varicose YES! 5 poos yesterday! I'm luck if I'm a one a day girl normally, I wouldn't mind but I have no idea where it's coming from because I am not eating a right lot at the mo

This might have something to do with the above but my tummy is so tender. It feels a bit like I have gastroenteritis all the time (the type that aches not the excruciating pain) but don't have diarrhoea or anything so not sure what that is all about.

Cried on my mum last night and was a bit mean as I thought she had booked today off work as she is looking after ds this weekend as I am away only be told that she didn't book it off and my day with no kids today has not worked out as planned. Then I felt even worse as ds overheard me telling mum that I needed time on my own tomorrow and could have done without having ds Felt awful to both him and mum for being such a spoilt, selfish bitch. Will have some apologising to do today. Am just erratic and cry at the drop of a hat at the mo!

tadjennyp · 02/07/2010 06:37

That's just motherhood guilt for you chloe. I am just so knackered that I can barely do anything fun with the dcs, never mind something constructive like jigsaws or painting. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get some energy back soon!

smallblackflowers · 02/07/2010 07:31

chloe poor you, just hang on in there for a few more weeks and you'll start to feel much better. It might be worth trying something like a relaxation hypnosis type CD before bed - if I ever use mine I sleep like a log.

I'm not actually feeling too bad this morning - DD very kindly slept until 6am and I was asleep before 10 last night, so 8 hours of consecutive sleep...bliss. I was more tired than I think I've ever been in my life yesterday evening though, so expect it's all down hill from here!

I've got a busy day today, having lunch with a friend from work as a bit of a precursor to going back in a few weeks, but I'm dreading her asking if I'm pg as I'm an awful liar. She's just very direct and I might have mentioned ages ago that I was hoping for 2 DCs fairly close together. She asked me last time I saw her, 3 or 4 months ago, and I just know she';s going to ask again today. Have been mentally practising lies/evasions such as...'and I thought I was looking good at the moment' and 'no....'

After lunch DD has her first nursery 'visit', I will be staying with her this time, but expect she'll have to go it alone next week which I'm dreading.

And to top it all off, I started a website shop a few months ago selling homemade dresses and bits for toddlers, haven't had any orders in a while thankfully, but got 2 through yesterday. I make things to order and promise a turnaround of a week. I'll have to pack DD off with DH at the weekend and just get on with it.

Chloe55 · 02/07/2010 08:05

SBF - can we nosey at your website? I know we aren't officially meant to advertise on threads but would be intrigued to see your homemade stuff.

cler · 02/07/2010 08:12

I had to go to bed at 6 last night and havnt slept well all night because ive had awful pains in my tummy, They are still there now but havnt had any bleeding. I get so worried with every little pain.x

angels1 · 02/07/2010 08:26

cler I've heard of people having terrible pains early on keeping them up at night as it's so bad and it was ligaments stretching, so don't assume the worst

yes sbf would love to take a look at your website

ledkr · 02/07/2010 08:26

That's interesting prof. the 700 was at the local hospital where I will be receiving rest of my care ! I am phoning the screening mw today but am feeling like maybe the cvs is bit risky as this is probably our last chance and dh only child may have nucal etc possibly privatly after what you said about it then go for amnio. god knows what id do if positive tho! I am 43 have had breast cancer and have a son who will need kidney transplant soon. Don't know if I can cope. Chloe have you tried giving yourself a new bedtime routine? like a child. bath etc. no tea or coffee or choc.know it sounds silly but worth try. can you take herbal nytol? I should get back onto Dr and be bolshy surely u can get something!

Chloe55 · 02/07/2010 08:46

Well, I haven't fully sorted out a bedtime routine but did have a Horlicks before I went to sleep last night You are right though, after this weekend I am gonna start treating myself like a toddler, dinner, bath, milk then bed!

Cler, I can fully sympathise with the pains, try not to worry though (easier said than done I know)

Has anyone seen the latest Russell Brand film? Think we are off to see it tonight.

ledkr · 02/07/2010 08:52

Cler i get all sorts of pains in my tummy and its usually bowel related. either do pooh bit later or wind.how is it now?

ledkr · 02/07/2010 09:01

Chloe be carefull with horlicks n stuff cos sugar will keep you awake too. plain full fat milk is best

PandaEis · 02/07/2010 09:17

morning

chloe i feel your pain!! i have a touch of insomnia and had it quite bad with DD for me it lasted through the first trimester and went away during the second and then came back in the third but i suspect that was more about getting comfy than anything else!! what helped me most was a combintion of going to bed as early as possible- as in as soon as your DS is in bed get DP/DH to bring you hot choc/horlicks or suchlike in bed with whatever you fancy for tea...if you have a TV in your bedroom then watch something calm for a few hours or read a book...i also was given a bottle of avent sleep remedy which was basically essential oils that help you relax and you just drip it onto your pillow (this was from babies-r-us IIRC) and i just tried not to put prssure onto myself to go asleep. it didnt work every night but it did allow me to relax a little more and at least get more rest hope that helps a little and i hope you start to feel better soon xx

iwould like a look at that website too

i have been feeling quite dizzy and rough the past couple of days (greatful for the symptoms) and i nearly fell asleep at my desk yesterday!!

has anyone else been feeling irrationally angry at stupid things?? i had a cob on all yesterday afternoon for basically no reason!!

PandaEis · 02/07/2010 09:19

whoops X-posted

ledkr · 02/07/2010 09:38

Prof can you give me website of f med unit you talked about there are loads on Google thanks

cler · 02/07/2010 09:41

Its still hurting, hopefully is just bowels or stretching. It eases abit if i rest. Ive been in bed for 12 hours and i still feel shattered. I get worried very easily.
