filly - congratulations, am so pleased you avoided the induction & you had a positive birth experience.

Re - routine - baths have gone out of the window here, dd avoids them wherever possible as she hates getting a hairwash. I seem to be the only one who regularly has a bath in our house - we sound like an awful bunch don't we. Must try to get into a routine incorporating baths in the next few weeks, csws - I've got one of those bath seats ordered so hopefully will work well for getting the two in the bath togewther.

NizzyNoodles · 25/06/2010 06:48

Quick update - Samuel James arrived last night at 23:10 weighing in at 10lb 10.5oz! As planned I had a home delivery and everyone is fine. Just waiting for his big sisters and grandparents to come over as soon as they wake up!

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/06/2010 07:14

oh congratulations nizzy, and wow what a whopper! The girls weren't that big were they? I shall look forward to meeting him in due course. Xx

sobloodystupid · 25/06/2010 09:16

Congrats to all the mums, am delighted to hear the stories. Babies and mums are beautiful No waaay am I posting a pic until I'm back in my size 6 jeans and wearing Louboutins. (that'll be never then!)

imkeepingmum · 25/06/2010 09:36

Congratulations on the new babies everyone and lovely photos!

Due tomorrow and DH has instructed me not to venture too far from home just in case, bless him

herewegrow · 25/06/2010 10:23

Congratulations on more new babies, lovely names and photo's. Lots of on off pains / discomfort here (has been for the last couple of days) but nothing happening as such.

imkeepingmum i'm also due tomorrow and won't be venturing too far from home as it's just too uncomfortable.

myhandslooksoold · 25/06/2010 13:49

Congratulations filly and nizzynoodles- wow impressive birthweight!!!

Well after a show on Wednesday still no baby!!! Can't believe it and had a good cry about it this morning.

Can hardly bear for DH to touch the reflexology/accupressure points they are so tender from the working they got on Tuesday.

Can't bear all the expectant faces- many thanks to the lady who literally screeched across the playground yesterday "I can't believe you're still here!" I wanted to kill her. DH doing all the school runs today thank god he's working from home (although he's eating me out of house and home doing extravagent things such as opening tins of salmon on a Tuesday!!! )

Off for a S+S later this afternoon oh the joy I can't believe I am looking forward to the mw sticking her fingers in for a good agitation

myhandslooksoold · 25/06/2010 13:51

oh forgot to say I went to town this morning supposedly for retail therapy/ buying of crap that I don't need but makes me feel better but ended up being sensible and getting school uniform and my Minlaws birthday present.

Was so nice to be unrecognised. Lots of stares but a refeshing break from the constant questions- I feel like a ruddy public information service in my village!

imkeepingmum · 25/06/2010 14:10

herewegrow yes I have lots of pains/niggles too and you're right about being uncomfortable, finding it difficult to find any comfortable positions at all!

MrsDmamee · 25/06/2010 14:29

Congrats filly and welcome new baby Mia, and congrats to all other new mummies if i havent already done so.

had a sweep yesterday at 39+2 weeks to supposedly improve my chances of having a VBAC

Spent last night aching with a small bleed and a little of the same again today not sure if its anything other than my insides giving out to me

DH is ringing home every couple of hours to check in, me thiks he is looking for an excuse to leave early as he has too much to do

fillybuster · 25/06/2010 16:14

Wow Nizzy!! And I thought Mia was big!! Congrats

I've just stuck a couple of pics of Mia on my profile....no more of me until I've a few stone though!!

MrsAlwaysRight · 25/06/2010 17:06

Congratulations to NowWeAre4, Suzy1975 , gaelicsheep , sobloodystupid, fillybuster, and NizzyNoodles

Lots of positive birth stories, quick births, good baby weights, lovely names and gorgeous photos!!

I hope those of you who are still waiting aren't suffering too much in this weather and don't have too much longer to wait.

Alice seems to be doing well. Saw midwife this week for last time before being discharged and she has put on 10oz in 5 days so I think the feeding seems to be going well and nips have healed and are no longer hurting.

Nights are very hit and miss - most nights she is only waking 1-2 times between midnight and 7am and sometimes goes straight back to sleep but other times takes upto 2-3 hours to settle properly after going to sleep then waking 5-10 mins later.

DD1 is still being very good with DD2 and is constantly kissing and cuddling her and wanting to help.

Question for those who are a few weeks further down the line than me - when do your boobs start to settle down and stop doing a very good impression of Niagra Falls when a feed is due? Or is it just me?!?!

Photos of baby and big sis on profile.

georgee · 26/06/2010 02:48

Loving all these beautiful photos of new gorgeous babies (and older siblings) on everyone's profile - congrats to you all, particularly filly and nizzy (because most recent! I'm losing count!).

All well here although obviously I'm posting at stupid-o-clock - baby's having a mad hour (still inside me) and not allowing me to sleep.

Went to hospital today - I'm officially two weeks overdue tomorrow - and we're going to start the induction process tomorrow night. She did a S&S which has certainly had some effect but has not kicked me off properly. Still, it's all going in the right direction.

Have great weekends all, in case I don't get the chance to post again.

gizmo · 26/06/2010 07:44

Whenwill just thinking back to Ds2's arrival, we got into a new bedtime habit quite quickly. We had one of those baths that sits on top of the big bath, so the boys would have a 'double decker' bath, IYSWIM, then Ds2 would have a feed while I read ds1 a story & I would pop him in his cot, following which DS1 would get another 20 minutes of exclusive mummy time - a priviledge he jealously guards to this day. Of course, this approach is easiest when the baby gets to an age where you can just put them in the cot & trust they will settle, but you might be pleasantly surprised how quickly that comes along.

meggymegmegs · 26/06/2010 12:20

Just a quickie to say a huge congrats to the many gorgeous new arrivals that have come since I last had time to post. Jimmy's doing great, he's 6 weeks tomorrow and piling on the weight (gained 13oz this week!!). Hopefully I'll get more time to post soon but I think he's having a growth spurt and is constantly feeding at the moment so I feel like I haven't a spare minute.

Hi - Just a quick update, my daughter Lilly was born on 24.06.10. We had a very successful home birth that lasted 6 hours (a quick labour for a first the midwives said). The whole experience was amazing, though painful, I was so fortunate to have 2 lovely midwives and a student midwife with us for the whole labour. We felt like we got really good care and though I have nothing to compare it to being at home was great. The only downside is that I had a second degree tear because her arm came out with her head.

Sorry I will read all the messages when I have a minute - but congrats to all new mums.

No doubt I will be back on here looking for advice from you all on MN.

Summerhols · 26/06/2010 20:28

Also I just wanted to say I was a week late so I am thinking of all those who are overdue in this heat!

MonkeyMargot · 26/06/2010 21:28

Congrats to all the new babies! Some real whoppers!
Hope to find a minute to post more soon, but all going well - just bloody knackered from BF x 2, keeping on top of the washing (why do boys pee everywhere the minute their nappy comes off?!) and look after DD (which DH is doing mostly). I haven't actually left the house yet...but hope to sometime in the next 12 months...

AlwaysHopeful · 27/06/2010 11:28

For those thinking of bathing 2 DCs together, i don't want to cause alarm, but thought i should share with you. We had my two in the big bath together on friday evening. Dd is 2 and a half. George was on one of those shaped bath sponges so that he was mostly out of the water. Both dh and i were supervising and dd was helping to was georges legs. She then got the tiny cup we use for rinsing georges hair with and started pouring water on his legs. Then all of a sudden she threw the water in his face. I immediately grabbed him out and put him over my lap patting and rubbing his nack to make sure he hadnt breathed any in, but he just wouldnt (or couldnt) take a breath. Dh had a go for a few seconds and then i called an ambulance. The lady talked me through what to do with him and he sorted himself out before he paramedic arrived. The ambulance took us up to the hospital for a check over and monitoring for a couple of hours and then we brought him home.

I cant express how frightening the whole thing was or how shocked i was that it even happened with both dh and i being there and actively explaining to dd not to get water near his face.

Will be eternally grateful for the first aid courses i have been on , even though i dont think i got it right, at least i had an idea of what to do.

When they say babies can drown in a spoonful of water, they arent kidding.

Apologies for bad punctuation. Am tying one handed n phone while feeding and am now crying again..

AlwaysHopeful · 27/06/2010 11:33

Ps. George is 100% back to normal. He has been feeding like he is being starved every two hours during the day, but goes longer most nights. He is putting weight on like dd never did - over a pound since he was born.

Sympathies for those still waiting for their babies in this heat. Congratulations to all the recent arrivals too!

NizzyNoodles · 27/06/2010 13:29

So now that I've got a spare 5 minutes here's what happened on Thursday.

I'd woken up a couple of times on Wednesday night with a sore back but just put it down to more niggles. On Thursday morning I had the start of a show so I thought that something might be starting to happen.

Luckily for me DH was able to work from home and I sent the girls to my parents for the day. I had intermittent pains so we went for a walk in the morning and again in the afternoon when the pains seemed to have worn off.

About 6.30 I realised that the pains in my back were getting a bit stronger and more regular so we contacted the delivery suite and midwife to let them know. I started to get regular pains about 8ish so told the midwife to come over. I was stamping around the living room with my Tens machine strapped on with every contraction as they were getting more frequent.

2 midwives arrived at 9ish and we found out I was 4cm. Everything progressed over the next couple of hours with the help of gas and air. Then, just after a change of midwives, at 11.10 out came Sam - all 10lb 10.5oz of him! We had no idea he was going to be so big and we probably wouldn't have been allowed a home birth if anyone had spotted it earlier.

It was a bit stressful at the end as the cord was loosely over his shoulder and he had congestion so needed a bit of help breathing but he's absolutely fine now! He seems to like sleeping and eating so for now we're going with the flow. He's survived his first bath and all the cuddles from his big sisters.

I'm sure I've missed something but it all seems like such a long time ago already - even though it's only 3 days! This is now a bit of a massive post!!

I hope that everyone is doing ok - and that it's not too much of a pain for those still waiting!

LaTrucha · 27/06/2010 13:50

Hello all,

Congratulations to all with new babies and lovely stories. I am enjoying and envying reading them all.

Nothing doing here. Crampy and uncomfortable but nothing definite. I'm being more patient than I thought, but that still is not all that patient! I measured my tummy last night and it measures 118cm round! That's only 5cm less than my friend who is expecting twins this week!

greensnail · 27/06/2010 14:37

AlwaysHopeful - how scary for you all. So glad to hear George is ok. I hope DD is too - must have been a big shock for her too. These things can happen so quickly. Luckily the worst that's happenned to Alice so far is a faceful of sand from her big sister!

How are all the other June babies coping with the heat. Alice is miserable in it, she gets so hot and bothered and we're really struggling to keep her cool enough.

RubyReins · 27/06/2010 16:41

Hi ladies.

Congratulations to all the new mums on the thread! Lots of lovely stories too.

I've been having pains for a week and was hoping to avoid my induction appointment tomorrow but it looks like that won't be happening now. I really really wanted to go into labour on my own but alas it's not to be. Feeling very despondent and trying to be all Machiavellian and concentrate on the outcome and not the means of getting there...

Good luck and lots of labour vibes to all those still waiting.
