Just to clarify - this 'any day now' thing, I've got a chum coming on Friday, and then on Sat I need to get to the garden centre for a wigwam trellis to plant a climbing rose onto and I have another rose bush to plant in somewhere. And this is regardless of doula being on hol.

So I'll see fanny's Monday as being the earliest it can be

CurlyCasper · 16/06/2010 17:20

Love it - get the trellis sorted first, birthing can wait

iggypiggy · 16/06/2010 17:20

oooh cunty any day now!!!!!! exciting.. but fingers crossed is when Doula is back.

Nice to see the rest of you PESHies - and for twinks being back

I haz appt tomorrow... and Group B strep test...

Also nearly finished work... scary...

Backinthebox · 16/06/2010 17:26

Cunty Minday would be a nice day for it - OH and I have officially been together for 20 years on Monday . It is the longest day of the year. Does anyone know what I could get him as a present?

As for pizza, OH makes ours every Friday night, and they are THE best pizzas on the planet. I eat a whole one. There is no other way!

CUNextTuesday · 16/06/2010 18:48

boxy If Rastus comes on Monday I suspect it will be the longest day of the year

donttrythisathome · 16/06/2010 20:03

Cunty do not repeat DO NOT down any castor oil...I did...regret it muchly.

Off on hols peshies, see y'all later. There BETTER be news [stern look]

Ski - never will I be rejoining it. One enough. maybe.

rollerbaby · 16/06/2010 21:36

Cunty am so excited for you!!! Pina coladas and pineapple fritters for you my love. Can't wait.

Snuck out of work today and spent a whole one hundred and sixty five street fighting pounds in mamas and papas 30% off sale. now proud owner of digital steriliser, pram rattley thing, flat sheets, fitted sheets and cellular blankets (how many do I need?) plus thermometer and few other bits - including your all in one with built in mitts don't try!

Bloody hell feels very REAL now.

SilverSky · 16/06/2010 22:45

Jeez Louise! honey we still have not bought a sausage. Not that a sausage would be particularly useful anyway.

Talking of pizza. I had a whole mo fo' of a large pizza from a top high st pizza proprietor who haz speshal offers on at the mo! Yum in my fat tum.

Fanks for dress tips. Going to order some to try! Slightly concerned that my comedy boobs are causing some good humour at work. Just comments along the lines of " they are huge, aren't they? " To be fair I am laughing about it and it's not meant horribly.

Newsflash - Pumkin Patch haz a sale on! Including maternity wear. Get them whilst they are hot!

TuesdayIsGonnaPopOnMonday so exciting !!! Cmon baby Tuesday!!

SilverSky · 16/06/2010 23:19

Hey hey Husband just felt the baby move! At last! He is one very happy chappy now!

rots · 16/06/2010 23:54

silver yay!

On dresses, if you're planning to breastfeed, it's worth looking out for nursing dresses to get the maximum use. Most will allow for a bump. Try here www.mummylooksfab.co.uk/nursing-dresses - I bought the Evita Wrap dress in the purple. It's gorgeously soft and comfy, incredibly stretchy and could be dressed up or down. I love it. It's the one I wore to my brother's wedding, and I've also worn it to a party. It doesn't look like a nursing dress but will be really easy to feed in.

cunty I'm really excited/petrified on your behalf and whilst I realise the time, tide and garden centres wait for no woman - you will be fine if Rastus does decide to come early. Although having discussed your situation with jailbait last night he reckons if you just cross your legs and think about something else, you can probably hold it in like an irksome poo.

I haz had pizza bother last night. I'm finding it more and more difficult to eat the one whole pizza and last night had to leave a quarter of my Dr. Oetker ricotta & spinach. Poor Julian. In reference to fanny's diet - I noticed before that her "mega binge" looked like a pretty normal day's eating for someone bf'ing and recovering from a big operation...

rots Tbh, I'd be more horrified about the pineapple and the sweetcorn. How fucking wrong do you want to make that pizza? Correct and appropriate pizza toppings may be taken from any of the following:

Cheese (any)
Olives (black)
Anchovies
Spicy beef
Pepperami

Don't go fucking with anything else, especially not fruit you mad Yorkshire bint!

iggy Are you at risk from Strep B?

donttry hmm, you don't sound too convinced to me!

Yay for the start of the summer sales - we can all go mad for baby things now. Although being a tight-arsed git I'm more looking for stuff which will fit him in a year's time - you know, snaffling bargains for a 9-12 month old little boy in the spring/summer lines rather than buying a load of summery stuff to fit him for 2 months now. I iz the mistress of tight! This is pretty much my plan until he's old enough to click that all the stuff I buy him is for him to wear "next" year. Please to have maxi-cosi carseats at 50% off in the sale - or am I just having a serious case of wishful thinking?

skihorse · 17/06/2010 08:04

Holy fucking shit - so just after I posted that I checked the website for my local baby place. The aforementioned maxi-cosi is 79 euros in the sale - guess where I'm off to at lunchtime!?

Cosmosis · 17/06/2010 08:52

Oooh barganlicious skibabe

OkieCokie · 17/06/2010 09:50

Pepperoni, jalepenos and chicken have to be on my fantasty pizza team, the spicier the better. Pineapple on a pizza is just wrong, it should only be in pina coladas!

Still have a job for now, there are now only 4 of us left in the UK operation! We are a bit thin on the ground to say the least.

Maxi cosi car seats better than mamas and pappas imo for what its worth.

Cunty it is amazing what you can accomplish when experiencing the first signs of labour. Having lounged around on mat leave for 3 weeks when I found I was experiencing odd rumblings in my wombler region (at abot 9.30am) I went to the supermarket and panic bought to make sure we had food in the fridge and went to change my car (I have to change my co car every 3 months! Don't ask - it is a PITA due to bloody parking permits in that there London but means I never have to wash it!). I then sat on my ball in the lounge can called Mr C (about 3.00pm). He was most upset not to have had a call earlier so he could skive off work be with me. He cooked me a large bowl of pasta/pesto/chicken which was a good thing since I did not eat for another 3 days or so! It only really started to kick off around 8.00pm!

skihorse · 17/06/2010 09:53

okie I'm so sorry, I meant to ask you what had happened yesterday about all of that. I'd imagine that right now even if they wanted to get rid of you they daren't... given a possible risk of tribunal etc. What do you do anyway? I take it you're something terribly important.

I'm going for the maxi-cosi because I've got a Quinny travel system so the idea is that it's all supposed to just "click-in".

The Dutch/Belgians (and I'm sure switty has some tales) put fruit in the wrongest of wrong things. E.g., tuna mayo with peach.

TwinkleToes76 · 17/06/2010 10:03

I'm with rots on the pineapple on pizza debate...

OkieCokie · 17/06/2010 10:13

Ski ah thanks - having looked into it I don't seem to have any additional rights being updiffed, only if they got rid of me and I could prove it was discrimination (my company are not the best at following procedure so I am sure I could screw get something out of them! However, I live to survive another day! As they cover my health care and therefore my private maternity package I really could do with lasting until I go on leave!! I think you are right though, I think they may be too paranoid about touching me and I am happy to let them think that!

I wash pots for a living

rots · 17/06/2010 10:18

ski There Is No Such Thing As A Wrong Pizza Topping .

Unless it's including bits of dead caged animals, obviously.

I am totally with you on the buying ahead thing. At the NCT NNS I evangalise about I bought about a year's worth of stuff.

Talking of pineapple, I have to say I thought cos's comment about taking semen orally was ever so slightly amusing (cue carrots pissing her pants again).

OK girls with babes, I have a task for you. Please could you possibly help me out with some info? I am looking for nappy reviews (dispikables and washables). Specifically:

-Brand name and type
-Cost if available
-Absorbancy rating (1-5 starts, 5 being best)
-Fitting rating (stars)
-Value for money (stars)
-Drying speed (washables obviously) - 1 star really slow (eg bamboo), 5 stars really fast (eg microfibre)
-Durability (washables, stars)

  • Any other comments?

I know this is a lot to ask but if anyone can give me any information at all I'd be most grateful (and I'm just as interested in sposies as washables). Thank you

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 17/06/2010 10:25

Okie I'm glad you survived the cull! Wouldn't be an easy time to be unemployed. If you think the future looks shaky though, you could always start to look around. Great news that all's well for now. The car swap thing sounds like a complete nightmare BTW.

Although I don't want to diss rots pizza preferences, I do also belong to the camp that feels pineapple has no place on a pizza - belonging in the realm of delicious cocktails or those amazing milkshakes they make in Thailand....mmmmhhh

However: ski I find that peach and tuna thing a magical combination! Yummy yummy. I have even been known to serve it to guests with a salad as a starter. And they have torn into it, God bless them. So I am not alone. Diss it not 'til you have tried it Peshes (Disclaimer: ski obviously has tried it of course - ergo it is possibly not for everyone)...

I haven't tried the Dr Oetker Spinach and Ricotta by the way Ski - do you recommend? I've always been more of a Mozzarella women. Never have I failed to finish a whole one though....

Black hair as pizza topping is gross though. Boak...

Cosmosis · 17/06/2010 10:32

well I like pineapple on pizzas so ner.

OkieCokie · 17/06/2010 10:42

Your pineapple on pizza loving repulses me.

Cosmosis · 17/06/2010 10:47

In a fit of panic that we were only considering one hosp, and after lovely chat with checkout girl in Tesco last night (19wks preggo) I have just booked a tour of that there hosp that fanny used as well as the big city centre one we were planning on.

rots · 17/06/2010 10:48

OkieCokie · 17/06/2010 10:58

Rots sorry I use disposables - but here is my findings

Brand and name
PampersActiveFit (aka in our house hold as active shit - they are crap)
-Cost if available £18.00 for 2 jumbo boxes (approx 140 pieces from that there Asda (it is the only thing I buy from Asda as they are the cheapest!)
-Absorbancy rating (1-5 starts, 5 being best) - 4 for pee - 1 for poo (hence the coined name active shit - it doesn't stay in!

-Fitting rating (stars)- 3*

Value for money (stars) 4* from Asda

-Drying speed (washables obviously) - 1 star really slow (eg bamboo), 5 stars really fast (eg microfibre)

-Durability (washables, stars)

  • Any other comments? Don't suit mini C

PampersBabyDry
£18.00 for 2 jumbo boexes
5* for absorbancy
5* for fit
4* for Value for money
Any other comments - very good. My nappy of choice.

skihorse · 17/06/2010 11:02

lol@okie Pineapple in anything bar cocktails/fruit salad repulses me. A plongeur? How glamorous!

switty Where do you stand on hare with tinned satsumas? Once served to me on christmas day in Gent. Hare yummy, satsumas yummy - together? Wtf? Can't you just have made some Yorkshire puds like any normal person? The Dr. Oetker pizzas are brilliant in general - I'd also recommend the funghi. 1.89 euros or less. Bargainacious.

carrots Has Peter twigged yet that his wardrobe is a year out of date? I've been placing orders from people for ski gear for Julian - warm wooly hats, mittens and the like (have already scored ski suit). I'm very envious of curly's swimsuit - want one! Tuna with peach? Noooooo - so wrong. Every time you eat a tuna mayo & peach sarnie a kitten dies.
