rots! your waters?! i knew there was a reason my internet was failing at 4am - knew it meant something would be happening!

don't stress - i had loads of contractions that i did not feel. my behaviour and account of things and the readings on the monitor were totally different. i'm sure your body is quietly working away in the background and the lavender birth will be yours. thinking of you.

if anyone wants web chat at ridiculous hours, just message me
. there's a good chance i'll be around, seeing as the breast feed, cup feed, change and pump process can take 1 1/2 to 2 hours...

Cosmosis · 01/07/2010 08:34

ski update, she is being induced today!!

Cosmosis · 01/07/2010 08:37

rots waters gone!

shall we have a ski / rots race?????

cunty you are also my hero!!

CurlyCasper · 01/07/2010 08:47

Good luck to rots and ski!

I am having vistors today, including a 2 and a 1/2 year old girl, who was born at 28 weeks gestation. I've not met her before but I'm told she is gorgeous. can't wait!

Then rheumatology beckons, and being separated from my baby for the first time. Mum and dad are going to look after her rather than us drag her to another hospital and a waiting room full of old people who will want to poke and prod!

organiccarrotcake · 01/07/2010 08:52

Place yer bets, girls

Ok so my plan is to have a shower and take the dog for a walk. Still can't get through to MW (not phoning hossie as they will no doubt want me in and I'm darned if I'm playing that game until MW insists at least ).

Look, if I go quiet there's nothing to report (or things have kicked off in big way!!!). YOB will try to update if I can't. MW just pn phone.

organiccarrotcake · 01/07/2010 08:59

OK so she was due at 11 but she's coming earlier now to check us out. She was really excited!!!

Thanks for reassurance, cassie. I am really hoping so.

Forgot to say, had breastfeeding antenatal class last night but no childcare so YOB went on his own while I stayed at home with LC. Teacher said she'd never had a bloke come on his own! He's so sweet. He learned new stuff but I was very proud to hear he also did really well on her quiz - so he's been reading stuff and listening to me whittering on as well

LC VVVV excited this morning. Sent off to school with overnight bag so he can go and stay at his Granny's if required but he's so excited at the idea of his baby arriving! He did say, "it may come now, while I'm having my breakfast" .

OK so all well here. Feeling a bit more chilled. What will be will be. Like I said, will try to update when have news so assume if I'm not posting, nothing's happening.

Cosmosis · 01/07/2010 08:59

not good enought rots we need 10 minute updates

organiccarrotcake · 01/07/2010 09:04

cos just remember - you set the bar, you need to meet it

Cosmosis · 01/07/2010 09:09

lol fair point, update us in a week.

reginaMonologue · 01/07/2010 09:19

ooooo rots mucho good will pumping your way!

wow, the NOT LIST is going to look super different by the end of this thread innit!

salty hope you are mucho more chilled than you were, though I think we can all appreciate how hair-raising the early weeks are, you ain't the only one who went a bit menkul!

Muser · 01/07/2010 09:31

Oh this is so exciting! We certainly have some impatient July babies. And I'm all teary again at the thought of little babies arriving. Will someone please slap me?

I am getting more nervous by the day as scan is on Monday. I felt like the most pregnant person in the world yesterday due to the belly button pulling thing, today I feel nothing. It freaks me out.

RunLyraRun · 01/07/2010 09:32

Wheeee so much excitement over here at the moment! Good luck Ski and Carrots. Cunty so brave . How is Rastus doing? Is he gorgeous?

laurielou · 01/07/2010 09:39

cunty you are my hero!! Well done!!!

ski & rots Good luck to both. July is a fab month for a birthday (Unless it falls on the same day as the World Cup & you couldn't care less about football )

Anyhoo, will be constantly checking for updates..............

Scorpette · 01/07/2010 09:51

GOOD LUCK Ski and Carrots!

Cunty, am in awe of your stoicism and bravery. Will defo be getting myself some of that there hypno-birthing when my time comes. Hope you're mending and loving every min with Rastus.

And Casper, sounds like you're loving every minute. Brought lovely tears to my eyes reading your tender words about your small.

UnBESHly hugsnkisses to all xx

PerfectDromedary · 01/07/2010 10:12

Good luck, labouring peeps. These are some VERY impatient babies.

Cunty As per, you rock. And are a DHB. But there iz no photies on t'other place. Please to sort this out when you have a moment away from being a new mum and all that shiz.

Casper Yay you. All sounds very peaceful and happy!

Muse and Salty Although I don't have your reasons for anxiety, I do have the anxiety. Muchos sympathy. Muse if is any consolation, I felt utterly unpregnant yesterday and now feel desperately vomitous - almost puked in coffee shop this morning. I think that things change so quickly in these early weeks that your body gets used to something for a little bit and then it all goes tits up again. Is very scientific, this observation.

organiccarrotcake · 01/07/2010 10:13

Thank you so much everyone

Just been for walk. Nothing to report .

MW due sometime soon.

rollerbaby · 01/07/2010 10:32

Rots am dead excited for you my luvver. Enjoy your walk in the sunshine today. And bless your little one thinking babies arrive over breakfast (probably most single men don't have much more of a clue either though). Really wishing good, positive thoughts your way.

Cunty am I in total awe of you. Let me ask, was hypno stuff self taught from CDs books or did you do course? Have a place pencilled and don't want to part with £300 but you are convincing me otherwise!

Has anyone heard owt from skipass? Miss her mardy tones on here... hope she is ok.

Muser so glad your bellybutton is pully and Drom is nearly puking. All is well in the deli. Muse Monday will be here and gone before you know it... excited for you. The poor sonographer had to stop on my first scan cos I kept crying so much and tummy going up and down. It will be good, I know it.

Curly what happened to your friend to give birth so early? 28 weeks... yikes so tiny. How are you managing with the late night feeds? Are you sleeping in the day and managing to sort of catch up a wee bit?

Mr Moos birthday on Monday. Have bought 2 v nice Lafuma sunloungers which had never heard of but tried at friends house and they are the business. Feel like a right old git buying garden furniture as a birthday present!!! We are also going to the restaurant locally where he proposed... sniff.... can't wait. May push the boat out and have 2 glasses of wine.

CurlyCasper · 01/07/2010 11:14

moo late feeds not that bad! She sleeps three hours between, so that means I get six hours' sleep, with one feeding stop in the middle, each night. I have had about an hour's sleep in the middle of each day, but to be honest, that usually leaves me groggy so I'd rather not. Mum woke me at 7.30pm last night, I woke up with a major start, thinking it was 7.30am the next day

when she was not well at the weekend she would keep sleeping - unreactive baby not good. So I am actually quite happy to wake her up when the three hours hits - which is about now actually so must sign off.

Drom, scorps, and everyone else - thanks so much for your kind words - they mean a great deal. xxxxxxxxx

TwinkleToes76 · 01/07/2010 11:18

Sounds like a bit of a marathon Cunty, well done you! And Go Ski and Carrots! Am loving this baby rush.

Muse, Salty and Drom can I menkul with you? A sore nipple and a little bit of heartburn the other day are my only symptoms so far after spotting and cramping 2 weeks ago. Was feeling quite calm and fatalistic about it all until the babies started popping and now I JUST REALLY WANT ONE TOO! . Not being given a scan until 7 weeks though so have more waiting ahead...

organiccarrotcake · 01/07/2010 11:29

Aww twinkle everything will be fine

MW has been. She is convinced it was a full break (ie not just hindwaters) given extent of fluid (was very brave and saved a pad). She expects to be back later... but she said that NICE guidelines say all things being equal, I can wait 48 hours for induction so better than expected 24.

She said don't worry about walking around and exhausting myself - just to mooch and rest and see how I feel.

Will let you know if anything changes, ie contractions actually start.

PerfectDromedary · 01/07/2010 11:32

Twinks When is 7 weeks for you? I was googling early pregnancy scans earlier, and although they can scan 5/6 weeks, 7 gives much better chance of knowing viability, so it's probably worth waiting.

Unless, of course, they have to check that the baby's satnav worked, like what Muse needs.

I am really, really bad at waiting and I have no idea how this pregnancy is going and it's making me a bit weird.

Casp Your baby is also totally gorgeous, btw.

rollerbaby · 01/07/2010 11:37

I had my first one at end of 5th week and it was good because you could see the beginnings of forming heart which was feintly flashing. The fact it was well formed and attached and that there was blood flow from ovaries, and that he had come from my left ovary! It was really reassuring, but then obviously just to make sure (and had a tiny bit of bleeding which was just a capillary breakng off and nothing really) had another one a few weeks later to check heartbeat was def strong. I love that 've got all the photos from blob to baby!

It really calmed me down, and was fine to wait until 12 weeks, particularly as by that point was in the throes of feeling vomitous all the time so knew all was ok.

TwinkleToes76 · 01/07/2010 11:53

I'm 7 weeks next Friday. I had an early scan at 6 weeks in my last pregnancy and then had to wait another 2 weeks for a follow up to confirm the miscarriage. Not sure whether I could do that again so maybe waiting until 7 weeks so the outcome is less ambiguous is better. I desperately want to see a heartbeat but am terrified it's not going to be there.

Sorry, moan over. Just have no one around at the moment to talk to about it. But realise I am bringing the thread down from all the exciting birthing that is happening!

PerfectDromedary · 01/07/2010 11:58

Twinks That's exactly why I want to wait until 7 weeks - there's more chance of seeing the heartbeat, and I know I'll freak if I go earlier and can't see anything.

Did your spotting stop? I still have terrifying cramps, but according to the more experienced PESHes this is all normal.

We can be excited for the exciting birthing and still be mildly obsessed with early pregnancy, can't we?

CUNextTuesday · 01/07/2010 12:21

moo I did natal hypnotherapy from the CD only - FWIW I had visualised some bingo balls lined up and during each contraction I would count them up picturing them in my head, and by the time I got to about 24 the contraction was dying away. Honestly, it zones you completely into to what you are doing. My eyes and ears were closed to everything during the whole of my 1st stage which was 13 hrs. Although time is such an obscure concept, I couldn't have told you how long anything took. Second stage would have been fine too if it hadn't been for that pesky lip of cervix... So there was no heroics, you just do what needs to be done at the time.

Sorry re pics - put them up in the PESH deli area cos I know that baby pics on FB can sometimes be a bit insensitive. However if you want them I'm more than happy to put a couple on...
