Chulita · 28/06/2010 19:12

Oh and becky I've got a fab recipe for choc brownies if you want it - crunchy on top and stodgy chocolatey goodness underneath

Chulita · 28/06/2010 19:21

Everyone happy with 'July 2010: Our babes are due! Within the month, they'll all début' then? I'll start it off so we don't run out on this one.

stac14 · 28/06/2010 19:28

Evening all,

Just wondering what you all think. I have felt sick and dizzy/lightheaded over the past couple of days anyone have any ideas? Should i phone mw? Dp wants me too but i'm getting fed with the hospital.

Re: not sleeping. I manage to fall over then wake up. I'm sure its the heat as lo seems to settle well. Thanks for the concern ladies.

Loads gone on here today, ds has nicked the laptop so have jumped on the phone quick to say hello. Will come back in a bit when i retrieve the laptop. Typical glasgow summer holidays its started to rain lol but still roasting.

Dp doing my head in too. Said i may get a better sleep if i use the fan, that he bought me to cool me down and he moaned, ass!

jojo incase i dont get back on, have a great day and when you get the chance let us know how you are. X

Chulita · 28/06/2010 19:34

Oh yes! Hope all goes smoothly for you tomorrow and put up pics when you have the chance jojo

stac I'd ring, you might be having some blood pressure dips or something. Better safe than sorry right? You'll soon have your LO and not have to darken the doors of the hospital again!

Thanks chulita i sat with some ice for a while, got myself so upset with it that i've been to late night chemist and cried!!! I now have germoloid cream and suppositories (?sp) which has a local anesthetic so all numb now! what a relief!!!
Yes the brownie recipie would be lovely- sounds like just the right texture for me can you post it on here or do you want my email address? Thank you x

stac what did you decide about phoning MW? It prob is the heat but with the GD would you not be better getting checked out? I know its a pain having to trail to hosp but would give you and dp piece of mind? hope your ok

jojo hope all goes well tomorrow- sleep well tonight we'll all be thinking of you.

KK hope cinema and dinner were good... nice to make the most of the time before LO appears

MLIC enjoy your bath

Chulita · 28/06/2010 20:53

becky I'll post it on here, the only reason I didn't is cos it involves getting off the couch and I wanted to be sure you wanted it before I did Glad you got something sorted!

Chulita · 28/06/2010 21:00
  • Chocolate Brownies

100g (4oz) butter
50g (2ox) cocoa powder
2 eggs
225g (8oz) caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
50g (2oz) self-raising flour
50g(2oz) chopped chocolate

Line a 9in tin with greaseproof paper.
Melt the butter, add cocoa powder, stirring well to remove lumps. Beat the eggs in a large bowl. Add sugar and mix until smooth. Stir in the cocoa mixture and vanilla essence.
Gradually add flour, stirring til all combined.
Mix in chocolate pieces, pour into the tin and refrigerate for about 20-30 mins. Heat oven to 180C/gas mark 4 and cook for about 30 mins.

The trick to the crunchy top is to make sure you chill it well before cooking it. My oven is fond of cremating things so we only need about 15-20 mins but obviously all ovens are not created equal!

memphis83 · 28/06/2010 21:03

oooh chulita i would love that recipe too mmm brownies!!
stac could well be the weather but i think you should maybe give mw a ring to be sure!

regarding the wait for scan i will be making a complaint after ive had LO dont want them saying leave that memphis with no drugs to squeeze her giant headed baby out she complained about us! to be fair its only the scan team that are rubbish they delivery and mother and baby unit are fantastic!

jojo good luck and best wishes hugs to you for tomorrow, cant wait to hear how it all goes!

stac14 · 28/06/2010 21:07

hey ladies,

Dp insisted i phoned. Mw says just to keep an eye out as plug went last week. Could be heat or gd or a bug thats going about. She suggests getting checked for anemia just in case. So not to worry. I finally got hospital bag sorted. I go in on thursday night for steroid injections and obs as the steroids raise sugar levels. Needed a bag for that, used lo's changing bag for her (to be kept in car incase they have to section when i'm in) and the rest of my hospital stuff for section. Well dp was packing lol

Oh chulita maybe your starting to loosen up. Thanks for making new thread. Thats shocking you don't know were your being transferred too. Does dh not get fed up to?

Enjoy your bath mlic what does clary sage do? Was it you that mentioned arnica tablets?

becky i think i have one starting, wee buggers. But i would have gave the same advice as chulita, my friend swears by it. Have you heard from violet?

What you going to see kk? Think i'd faint in the pics lol. How have you been?

Hope everyones ok, dp will be sleeping on couch as even though its raining its so clammy therefore i need the fan on

GlastonburyGoddess · 28/06/2010 21:09

Gracie123-you have 90 days to leave feedback, so perhaps give her a few days chance to email you?

WickedWitchSouthWest-dont be too disappointed with the sweep, as you say a multips Os is what most people have once theyve had children, but things can change up there very quickly with subsequent children. I havent heard of membranes being -2, think what she is meaning by that is that the presenting part(the head, if your baby is cephalic/head down) is positioned at 2cms above the spines(in english that babys head is still fairly high) basically they go from -5(5cm above ischial spine) to zero station then down to +5 where the head(or presnting part) is at the vaginal opening. here is a diagram which may make what im saying more understandabl, its halfway down the page level of presenting part in relation to the ischial spines
hope that helps abit?!

will definately go back to my midwifery at some point, it just got impossible at the end of my first yr with 260 mile round trip to get to uni every day for 7 months then when on placement i was doing loads of night shifts and long days where as some of my younger colleages were on a much easier timetable. they were very inflexible and childcare broke down and I had no option than to withdraw. I did singlehandedly deliver my first baby though before I left!

Gracie123-saying that about your dh holding your hips reminded me that a good position in labour if your in alot of pain with it is to be on floor on hands and knees and get partner to stand above you squeezing your hips with their knees/legs.

chulita-Thats horrendous not knowing when or where your move to and gutting about them cutting his paternity leave.

viksam-same here love. dropped children at nursery and school, came back and hung out two loads of washing, loaded the dishwasher and that was me pooped for the rest of the day. got no energy, just want to sleep and if Im on my feet for more than an hour my feet feel like theyre going to burst open theyre so swollen roll on the next few weeks

jojo-have a great day tommorrow, hope you dont get pushed down the list and that you have little one sometime tommorrow morning!

stac14 · 28/06/2010 21:12

lmao memphis at getting no drugs to push baby out. But you are right to complain, the pedeatrician we saw the other week kept going on about sick babies and treating them leaving us worrying for a week for a scan. I just kept thinking if theres something wrong then why did they let us go home. Bedside manner could be better with some professionals and 8 days for an emergency is a joke x

Chulita · 28/06/2010 21:17

stac DH is fed up to the back teeth with it - everyday he comes in saying how desperate he is to leave this place...it's harder for him cos he knows he's making us all move somewhere we don't know anyone but he can't even tell us where or when!
glastonburygoddess I'm very impressed!

stac14 · 28/06/2010 21:37

your poor dh, you would think they could be a bit more considerate to families chulita do you think he will leave before the kids start school? X

I'l join these prayers, i know it sounds bad but i would love a cool day, with a bit of wind. Hot rains crap lol x

Chulita thanks for the recipe and for geting off the couch! lol! much apreciated guess what i'm making tomorrow
Got hairdressers in morning so will be sitting for a few hours, will be a relief to my rear end to stand and bake in afternoon!

stac no not heard anything else from violet they have posted a similar message on facebook so i guess they are having some quality time as a new family i'm so jealous but know our time will come very soon! this rain really hasn't cleared the air at all

My DP is also in couch tonight- apparently my snoring is keeping the whole street awake! lol!

beckyg123 · 28/06/2010 21:52

mlic glad you enjoyed your bath... feet feeling any better?
I have had piles for a few months now and although they were sore at first i got cream and they haven't bothered me much until today and wow they hit with a vengeance!!! the germoloids seem to be the way to go!

Wonderstuff · 28/06/2010 23:03

Right, bags packed, worked out how to get the carseat on our travel system (kiddiecare vids are a godsend) 37 weeks tomorrow - so any time the baby feels like making an appearance we're ready. Braxton hicks have stopped though.
DD is being a nightmare to put to bed - I think we'll all be happier when the waiting is over and baby arrives.
