Congratulations Violet - can't wait to see pictures!

I'm dreading my waters going in a public place - last time they went while I was sat on the loo which was very convenient!

Hope everyone survives the heat today, I'm planning on sitting in the shade in the garden with my feet in DS' paddling pool!

violet congratulations on your baby girl, cant wait to see the photos. I'm off to pizza hut to reserve my pizza for a couple of weeks time.

Mlic I do hope your DS is feelin better soon

It's so hot here already today and i have to go and buy more paint and move some more bits to the new place. Really dont feel like it but dont have time to sit and relax.

norky i'm with you on dreading waters breaking in public tho i'm told majority of women go in the middle of the night as thats when they're most relaxed

Oh mlic sounds like a quite day at home for you and DS! poor soul.
I've also heard about M&S giving you vouchers! might hang out there for a while! would they know the difference if you just wet yourself? lmao who wants to try that one out?

Bloody typical, washing machine just finished cycle and its started raining! i wanted a day in the garden
Checked bbc weather and we are in for heavy rain today- anyone want to swap the sun for rain? Sounds like a lot of you are still suffering with the heat- i love it except for bedtime!

Gracie123 · 27/06/2010 10:30

I can confirm the breast feeding myth - although I didn't believe it at the time!

When I had DS i was a size 12 immediately, size 10 within 2 weeks and size 8 about 2 months later (my pre pg size) I stayed this way until DS started weaning, where slowly the pounds crept back on until I was a 16 right before falling pg again!

Unfortunately, I'd got so used to eating cream cakes and hot chocolates with marshmallows on whilst bfing, it was hard to give them up when DS was weaning

I'm going to try and be much more careful this time.

Jojobil · 27/06/2010 10:32

Congratulations Violet that is fantastic news! Well done

beckyg123 · 27/06/2010 10:32

beckyg123 · 27/06/2010 10:37

ah gracie so its after stopping BF that i need to be extra careful! good to know
my friends wedding is 10 weeks after EDD so hopefully will have gone down a little by then! not expecting miracles, will just be nice to get dressed up and feel feminine again!

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/06/2010 10:44

Jojobil · 27/06/2010 11:13

I never lost any weight until I stopped BF. My body retained the weight...

Sorry KK I hope you got some sleep!

kapars · 27/06/2010 11:22

Congratulations Violet - fantastic news!!!!
Wonder who will be next?

My husband has joined the gym and they gave him free passes for me as I can't join right now and they have an outdoor pool so hoping to go and cool off in there later as it's boiling today and my feet are huge.

kkfairybrains · 27/06/2010 11:22

becky i dont know we might do something when baby is born.really enjoyed just having a relaxing night with the few of them though.it was a bit of a silly idea a week before im due anyway cause i never would have been relaxed with loads of people in the house!
stac think it was you who was asking how i was today?! well i slept like a log for 6 hours solid with no wee breaks! up since half 7 though and getting tired now again so when everybody goes im going to get my house into order again and go for a nap

Emster30 · 27/06/2010 11:25

Many congratulations violet - how exciting to have had our first baby!

I am being dragged to South London to a friend's house to watch the match this afternoon - the choice is between driving all across London (the air con in our car doesn't work) or taking sweltering tube and train and then a 10-15 min walk at either end. I've opted for car as I can't face walking but I'm not hugely looking forward to it.

Wonderstuff · 27/06/2010 13:39

Congratulations violet enjoy your yummy little one.

MILC your poor ds hope he is feeling better soon.

My husband is driving me mad today, first thing I found him smoking underneath the baby bedding which was hanging on the washing line, our line is really low so the washing was a couple of cms away from his fag! I lost the plot somewhat, it has now all been washed again and he has cleaned the car and agreed to stop smoking in it. Couldn't believe he thought it was OK. Then he lost his wallet (which he does several times a week) and that was a major panic, then we went to Mothercare, and he dawdals about then gets stressed when dd starts getting bored, he doesn't think of ways of distracting her, just gets cross, which obviously helps! We did get the car seat which was a major bargin and really so lucky - they had some Silver Cross ones in stock that match our pushchair, now SC stopped doing the colour we have ages ago and the seats were £60 cheaper as a result (we couldn't afford the carseat to turn our pram into a travel system with dd, so just had a generic car seat) I was well chuffed. Also got bed pads to save our mattress if my waters go, sleepsuits in newborn and nappies, so I think we are actually nearly ready for this baby!

Now he is in a major panic about dropping dd and me off before the football, I'm off to a baby shower and mil is having dd, he has taken dd off for a drive so she can have a sleep, he stalled the car twice getting out of the drive - I wish he could just relax a bit - god only knows what he is like at work. Anyway I now have half an hours peace, should tackle the washing up, but too tired, it will still be there later no doubt.

Chulita · 27/06/2010 13:49

Congratulations violet! How exciting - it's all started

I keep dreaming I've had this little one and I'm only 36+4 so got a loooong way to go yet!

Lol @ your DH wonderstuff - my DH gets stressed when DD gets bored too and then growls at her or tells her to behave which of course at 19 months she's bound to listen

mlic i worked in mothercare when i was a student and the amount of women that hear that if your waters break you get vouchers from them is unreal, they dont get anything at all! i saw 2 ladies waters pop while i worked there and my manager was a complete cow and passed one of the womens dh a mop to mop it up
wonder what a good buy with the car seat! lol at your dh, sometimes its a wonder they got through life before they met the women in their life! my dh lost is only key to bike lock and rather than properly search started attempting to break the lock and chain, at £80 its not something we can afford to replace, i asked when he had key last and retraced his steps and i found it!! maybe the stress of lo's coming is getting to them? ours is our 1st and dh spends a lot of time in garden and the shed think he is getting worried!
just been for all you can eat indian and it was so nice, i ate about 15 onion bhajis i was shoving them in and gagging as i did it, i will be suffering later im sure!

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/06/2010 18:21

Hi all,

Ive been at my mums for most of the day, sitting in the garden and watching the crap football.

Something Ive been wondering, do you always get a "show" before labour starts or have some people started labour before their "show" appears? I keep reading if you get a show then labour is coming even if its still a couple of weeks away but Im hoping I dont go really overdue so if I dont get a show in the next couple of weeks its not the end of the world!

OP posts:
Jojobil · 27/06/2010 18:41

I've not got any show, my waters just broke... So it's all personal.

Delta4 · 27/06/2010 18:53

Congratulations to Violet great news on the first baby!!

Many commiserations to all those who are suffereing with Braxton Hicks. I am finding it so tough to have pains and then everything stop....again. Since the very real feeling labour...which then wasn't on Wednesday night, there's been very little until today. Now nothing again. Sooo frustrating, feels like about 25 weeks again, when you realise there's still ages to go and no more scans or anything!!!!

DH Didn't get a show last time before labour, and have had lots this time...and nothing...so I wouldn't assume you must have one......

Jojo have your waters broken JUST now, or am I reading this wrong......????

Hope everyone else is well, enjoying the sunny weather (if you have it)....it is lovely but makes the infernal itching so much worse! Have a good evening all....wonder what spicy food I'll eat tonight....

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/06/2010 19:05

I suppose its always possible to not realise you've had a show anyway.

delta what have you had lots of this time??

memphis Ive just realised you said earlier on the thread about not being induced til August and Im the same, for me it would be 1st August which is just depressing!

OP posts:
Jojobil · 27/06/2010 19:07

No Delta I mean with DD I was answering DH's question.

Delta4 · 27/06/2010 19:21

Sorry dh must be the weather...just read back my message and makes no sense. I have had lots of show this time. Had a sweep on Tues and following that alot (TMI alert..) mucous tinged with blood. Has stopped now though. Still no labour either though......
Last time after sweep, did not have any show and labour started two days later!

Sorry Jojo was about to be very excited for you.....

Jojobil · 27/06/2010 19:24

That's ok ;) I only have 1 day to go until my c-section ;) x
