memphis thats so funny what your friend said! Im usually quiet and shy around strangers, I bet Im the type who will be very vocal during labour.

stac omg I wonder what the woman's hubby thought! Poor you lol.

gracie thats not a bad idea act, getting a XL men's t-shirt, I wear things like that now as my clothes really dont fit me anymore. Like today Im wearing an XL t-shirt from tk maxx I got in the sale for £3, but might even wear it after LO is born as I really like it, with leggings

I pumped up the birthing ball a bit more and its not much bigger but it is firmer and more comfy, have been bouncing around on it most of the afternoon!

gracie did they say what was wrong with heartbeat?
stac im sure it wasnt funny at the time but it sure gave me a laugh! have you been to your app yet?
memphis how are you feeling now? has the pain gone?

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/06/2010 17:41

Ive just had a call saying I took part in a survery last year and Ive won a 7 night holiday and they've given me a freephone number to call and a reference number and I have to call them straight away.

She asked if we were UK homeowners which we're not as we rent lol, also we're not both aged between 25 and 62 as Im 20 and DP is still 24.

I have no intention of calling, even if it was completely genuine I cant fly anyway

We have a cat net for the moses basket/pram and for the cot as well, Gracie. To be honest the cats are normally very sweet tempered... But being pinned to the floor by two determined people and force fed a giant, (apparently) foul tasting tablet would make anyone struggle!

I won't worry too much about the bath stuff, then. Thanks for the reassurances! We have a regular bath which should be fine for the HV's standards. Though I am still tempted to show her the hose pipe. Or maybe the washing machine? It has a 'Baby' cycle after all...

I'm glad the heartbeat problem didn't turn out to be anything too horrible, Gracie! Hopefully a bit of rest and relaxation and everything will be fine.

DesperateHousewife, I'm planning on a waterbirth at home so have vague plans of wearing the top part of my maternity tankini or a bikini top if I want to cover myself. (Though I suspect I'll end up in the nude sooner or later. )

However I've nicked one of DH's huge old t-shirts (I think it has Darth Vader on it ) to put in my hospital bag to wear if necessary, and I've also packed a couple of front opening, big, cheap nighties that I picked up from Peacocks. They're mostly for afterwards, but always there as an option for during labour!

Delta4 · 08/06/2010 17:54

oops sorry, forgot to say when due etc. Athrawes was obv alot more polite than me....I just posted!

Anyway, I'm due July 6, 2nd baby, boy.

Glad everyone seems a bit better today....Anifers, have you gone home yet?

Memphis, I lost some of my mucus plug at 36 weeks with dc1, but went 10 days over! Hope things will start sooner than that for you!

Am also in quite alot of pain this time ....lots of BH and pelvic pain as baby is 4/5 apparently, think this means on the brim, but very uncomfortable when this 7.5lb baby moves!!!

Gracie - hope you find some good flims to watch!

memphis83 · 08/06/2010 18:01

kk getting pain still about 3 every hour but not regular so they said not to worry about it yet, im going to bingo later with my friends, cant really not go as its like a pregnant friendly hen do as i couldnt go to the proper drunken one so hopefully i wont yelp out during the game!!
dh it was shocking when she told me when i 1st found out i was pregnant she was telling me in the middle of tesco! i think im going to go into myself during labour and when im in pain i tend to want to hide away so im worried that i will get close to birth and tell my mum and dh to leave me in there alone to get on with it, i think they are both expecting as they know me so well but i want dh to hold him before anyone so really hope i dont scream at them to get out!!

stac14 · 08/06/2010 21:09

hey grumpypumpkins be good to hear from you. You looking forward to starting mat leave? X

grumpypumpkin · 08/06/2010 21:19

Deffo stac, am feeling shattered now (34 weeks) and waddling like a duck
Have a busy few days though trying to get everything done and ready to handover to replacements.
Even 20 mins walking the dog is wearing me out- finding it so difficult to bend down and pick up the ball to throw for him!
Really hoping for good weather in the next few weeks so I can while away the time with sitting in the garden, interspersed with world cup and big brother if it gets too hot!

I think the policy on HV visits has changed fairly recently, I didn't get a previsit with dd in 2007, but got a letter through for one this time around. With dd I saw my HV once, did the 'do you have PND' questionnaire and never saw her again - she seemed quite nice but there were some strange ones at the baby weigh clinic - I stopped going in the end - MN much better source of information imo.

Thinking of you anifers hope lo is wriggling and generally doing as she should.

I'm shattered and I've got restless legs, so generally quite grumpy, have very low tolerance for children at school - which isn't proving to be an altogether bad thing, I've taken to not getting cross, but being quite blunt and am not working with anyone who sulks or otherwise fails to engage - they are all hyper having had a week off - they'll be back on track just as I leave . Pretty heavy day actually, a couple of issues with social services - who frankly are just crap imo - can't see anything improving any time soon need a magic wand for some of my girls. Here we are agonising over what will be best for our precious ones, and it seems children have to be at risk of death for ss to intervine and when they do the poor child is constantly let down, sorry end of rant. 4 more work days to go. I think I'll miss it a bit.

viksam · 08/06/2010 21:30

Marking, desperatly trying to catch up on the other thread, will be over when i do!!

beckyg123 · 08/06/2010 21:37

Wow its been a really busy few days! Wasn't sure whether to post here or on old thread so chose here!

sorry to here about all the complications- its all happening at once

any news from anfers? hope you and baby are ok and your at home being pampered!

gracie keep a close eye on yourself and your symptoms, i believe pre-eclampsia can be serious if untreated. Hope your ok too

memphis hope your having a great night! and no regular pains yet! exciting tho!

stac re. the GD- a friend of mine had it- was diagnosed at 30 odd weeks, she had been feeling really run down and glucose in urine, they quickly got her blood sugar levels sorted out, and she was totally fine! had lots of swelling in legs towards end (not sure if that was related?) but birth was all fine and baby great, big but not huge! she was told it could have been realted to her having PCOS (i'm sure you said you had that?)- don't know more about that bit.

Thanks for birthing ball talk! mine was flat and small- just blew it up more and its a much better size, going to use it for sitting on lap top and at table for meals now as great on hips!

First week of mat leave is flying in! and i'm busy rest of the week- can't believe how many friends have week days off!!! turning into a lady who lunches

viksam · 08/06/2010 22:00

Hey everyone,
Finally caught up but dont seem to remember who said what!!but I'll give it a go.
Anifers hope all is well with you!
Gracie would have seriously killed DH if he forgot my wash bag rest of the store was funny...soz!
mylife u said u have a baby bjorn bouncer and ur LO still uses it at age 3? Im looking for something that will last for a long time but have only found the fisher price rocker which turns into a todler seat, anyone seen anything else?
Stac Thats rubbish, got no experience sorry, how are u feeling?
DH shame about the draws, hope u get then this weekend.
Im getting really fed up of the house being upside down, i did too much lifting today trying to get things back to normal and now im feeling a bit tummy achey. Me and DH had a bit of an arg to about the state of the house. He is blaming me because i have pushed for the jobs to be done. He is extra narkey because he works in further ed and its exam time so the pressure is on and Im extra narkey because I havent been sleeping due to hayfever and wee wee and cramp in calves and general uncomfyness!! Roll on next thursday when i finish work, i cant wait.
Sorry to have a moan, just feeling like we still have a mountain to climb yet and would rather not have to!! Other wise I really cant complain, so sorry to you guys who have developed complications, thinking of you all.xx

Hello ladies! Welcome along newbies I'm bloody shattered but dd (aged 4) is having a bit of an odd evening and has been awake since 9 so I've been up and down trying to settle her. Dh is home this evening so he's been up there 20 mins reading stories but she's having none of it. Hope there's nothing wrong with her, it would be just my luck she comes down with chicken pox finally!

Re the baby bath, we had one with dd but it killed my back hanging over the bath! Far easier to bath her in a sink. For some reason dh refuses to let me get rid of the baby bath but I'm not going to clean it and just lob it in the garage for now!

memphis83 · 08/06/2010 22:58

got back about half 9 from night out it was a laugh but had quite a bit of pain and had to run to loo a couple of times, thought i was going to pass out as i was trying to act brave from pain! but settled down now, just going to bed to try and sleep b4 hospital tomorrow! dreading it as last time they made me sit in waiting room for nearly 3 hours!! hope anifers is ok we havent heard from her since this morning

GlastonburyGoddess · 08/06/2010 23:58

beckyg123-Thats really good to hear. Ive got friends with very mixed opinions about camhs so hopefully we'll get some good support.

Gracie123-Blimey must of been a bit of shock to get the letter about the scan. Good job they picked up on the high bp though. What are their concerns for the HR? too fast/slow? or decellerations?

stac14-Sorry to hear about your GD, will you have to go to the hospital weekly? is it far?

Anifersgirl-omg so sorry to hear about your crash, how scary. How are you feeling now? Are you still in hospital?

Gracie123-They sound rubbish tbh and not diagnosing PE till 130/90 tosh! your bp is very almost that and when assessing for PE the patients normal/baseline bp should be a primary factor. Hope they keep a close eye on you. make sure your familiar with symptoms of PE and harrass them if you think youve got any extra symptoms.

WickedWitchSouthWest-Any chance you want to come and nest in my house!?

NorkyButNice-wow 8.5lb already! dont worry too much though, they frequently get it very wrong!

Spirael-The little red book is your babys development book, the HV/any other HCP(except mw) will write in there every time they come to see you/you take baby to clinic. you also need to take the book if you ever have to take baby to hospital/a&e etc
lol about baby cycle in the machine, that made me chuckle!

memphis83-Glad to hear the pains have settled down a bit, hopefully they can reassure you all is well tommorrow.

Had a pants day yesterday, woke with raging tooth ache, managed to get emergency dental appt and turns out I have another bad infection in my wisdom(having it out on the 26th) dentist prescribed antibiotics that could of killed me! luckily I noticed before leaving the surgery and he redid the script. Started taking them yesterday at 10am and they only started working today at lunchtime so spent most of the night awake writherling in pain last night with peas held to my cheek. Cant decribe how releived I am its gone today, felt like I could of taken a mallet to my jaw yesterday it was that bad! will be throughly glad when its taken out!

Hope everyone has a restful & uneventful night xx

kkfairybrains · 09/06/2010 07:42

morning all! up since 6 o clock cause just couldn't sleep! getting fed up of it now. i know i wont be sleeping much when baby here but at least i'll have something to do with the baby! have hospital app at 9 this morning. my friend coming with me as dp cant get off work as we start antenantal tomorrow!she's so excited to see the baby but dont think she'll be able to see much!
anxiously awaiting news on anifers hope everything is ok.
how are you this morning memphis? did you sleep ok after that last night? i know exactly what you mean about the waiting room i was left for 3 hours last time too!
stac how u feeling today? hope your a bit chirpier in yourself xx

Gracie123 · 09/06/2010 08:24

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Fell asleep a 5.30 pm last night. DH woke me up for dinner at 10.30pm which I ate and then promptly fell back asleep until 8am this morning!!!!

Interestingly the problem with the heartbeat is that it is too regular. There is no variation, which may suggest the baby is unconscious.

They got me to eat some lunch (didn't help) then drink a pint of ice cold water. That seemed to wake it up! Moved around a little bit and then went back to sleep.

They are happy that it does wake up, but not happy about how little it wakes up :-(

I'm hoping it just means (s)he is lazy and will sleep really well after birth too. I said this and everyone just looked at each other and smiled politely. Not sure what that was supposed to mean...

Anyway, I have to keep a chart of movements and go back for bp and baby monitoring regularly.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2010 09:06

Morning all, this thread is moving quicker than the last one!

LO wasnt moving when I woke up this morning so Ive been talking to my belly and trying to get him to move, I think I woke him up as he now has hiccups! Whoops

Havent really got many plans for today, need to go to Tesco, really need to hoover. Ive got a film on the sky+ I might watch this afternoon and also going to go through all LO's stuff and try and get things in order in preparation for the drawers. I cant believe how much stuff he owns and he's not even born yet, we have been so lucky and been given lots of things but its just sitting on the floor of the nursery at the mo!

When are you all going to wash your LO's new clothes? (if you havent already)

OP posts:
beckyg123 · 09/06/2010 09:34

gracie sounds like you needed that sleep! did you not even have any toilet breaks? I'm impressed! You certainly do have a lot of worry on just now- thinking of you and LO

Aw KK totally sympathise with the lack of sleep! think our bodies are getting us ready so its not a shock when baby comes! Good luck at hospital

stac good luck at hospital today- hope they put your mind at rest

DH lol at neurotic mother! I just about hold my breath every morning until LO moves! I'm planning on washing baby stuff as soon as the weather gets better- it hasn't stopped raining here for over 48 hours now! I want to hang it out
Need to buy more vests as have lots of sleep suit/baby grows but only 3 vests! think i'll pick some up in tesco later

wonder and MLIC are you both in your last weeks at work? enjoy! anyone else finishing soon?

I'm off to edinburgh today to my friend's new flat and have lunch then meeting another friend for a swim later on- might just be a float around with a few lengths in there! i just love being in the water- feel so light and floaty!

Hope everyone has a good day
