OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Wonderstuff · 10/06/2010 18:56

DH I had the wrong date on the last list but never got round to changing it - actually my notes say 20th, but the MN calculator said 18th and putting it back was too depressing so it is 18th in my head. DD was 3 days early, so I'm hoping this one will be prompt at least

grumpypumpkin · 10/06/2010 19:52

WWSW Phew!! Thanks- don't want to be booted out for rule breaking just as I get the time to start reading and posting properly!!

MLIC- Happy last day tomoz, shall we come bak and compare pressys on Sat? (..suspects she has wrong attitude to this business...)

Anyone else completely addicted to sky channel 254 and all those baby programmes? Am wondering if I really need those NCT classes that I have signed up for as know it all now!!

memphis83 · 10/06/2010 20:42

now ive finally caught up with thread, only been away from laptop today and its doubled in size! congrats gracie on your girl shhh your secrets safe with us
hope the ladies whos last day it is tomorrow have a great day hopefully eating cake and doing no work?!?!?
ive just had a lovely soak in the bath and now contemplating fake tan in preperation for trying to make myself look human for the weekend, im scared of tan and normally avoid like the plague, my friend did hers the other day and her legs looked tobacco stained!! wish me luck
mlic in my head me dates are wrong they said im due 9th july but hes always measured 2 weeks bigger, and if i fell pregnant when they said i did then its not dh's as he was in scotland so maybe george clooney snuck into house in the night? so b4 my scan doc and me said i was due 26th june so i hope i dont go past 9th as in my eyes thats 2 weeks over!!

Gracie123 · 10/06/2010 21:03

LOL at tobacco legs!!

Are you doing it yourself memphis? Just make sure you scrub yourself clean of any perfumes moisturisers etc... but DON'T USE ANY MOISTURISER!! (Unless you have specifically bought the pre-tan one for your brand of tan)

The alkali in the soaps/perfumes/moisturisers etc... makes your tan orange. If you have dry areas you are worried about absorbing too much tan, just sweep over them with a little olive oil on a cotton pad.

Oo I haven't watched any birth programmes yet, I quite enjoyed those in the last couple of weeks before dd. Made dh watch a couple too - one US (where they all just go in and start screaming for drugs lol) and a UK one for comparison (water birth, no drugs, doulas etc) and it was pretty useful really.

I've just painted my toenails. No really I did! Didn't look overly ladylike or elegant squatting against the sofa to do it, but hell at least I don't have naked feet now

Got the last wax booked tomorrow morning and then I'm all set. Am being terribly vain with this one coz I don't want to go into labour with a 70's fanjo-fro going on if I end up with retained placenta again - and 15 students peering at me!

Night night ladies, anifers hope everything is well. Send us a smoke signal, please? x

kkfairybrains · 10/06/2010 22:13

hi all! had first ante natal class today.was really good except there was 1 KNOB there that thought he knew EVRYTHING. so frikkin annoying! dp feels alot more comfortable about everything now anyway so something good came of it!
memphis enjoy your pampering tomorrow!and good luck with the tan!

stac14 · 10/06/2010 22:55

hey ladies, how are you all? Still at my aunts decorating nearly finished yay. Trying to do this on my phone which i'm crap at. They put up my insulin again and may do it again tomorrow. Will catch up properly tomorrow. Soz for being rude. anifers thinking of you, you ok? X

memphis83 · 11/06/2010 07:58

wwsw i feel like a congratulations is in order on you managing to paint your toenails
gracie thanks for the tips i will forward those on to my friend aswell! ive just done a turn in front of mirror which i havent done in a long time and i think im streak free, 2nd coat goes on later so hopefully that will be a success too (im extremly pale so went for the fair skin tan)
as i work with my mum i wont be having a sending off present, but dh's work are great every single person down to cleaners put money in to a pot and you end up with a couple of hundered pounds from them so that will be a nice start to LO's savings account!
kk youve just reminded me i havent even booked us into an ante natel class i will try later to get a slot!

Gibbon · 11/06/2010 08:06

Sorry not posted of late but wanted to say good luck to you all and thinking of you

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/06/2010 09:23

Morning all,

Horrible weather here today, going to my mums in a bit.

Feeling a bit down today dont really know why, worried about finances and how we're realistically going to cope.
MIL is up to her usual shit again and Ive had enough of her to be honest, she plays her kids like they're idiots and she promised to pay for our travel system and hasnt and we could really really do with the money but I feel like I cant ask for it and DP is too soft.

GRRR sorry moany me, one of those days.

OP posts:
Gracie123 · 11/06/2010 09:43

WWSW bloody hell! I can't believe you can still reach your toes

MLIC I'm a beauty therapist by trade and may be putting myself out of business, so don't give anyone else my secret tanning tips!!!

TBH I prefer to use the spray stuff than the cream (much more even result) and the ones you get over the counter in boots are all very good, as long as you get a colour that suits, spray it from a good distance and build up coats lightly.

Also, make sure you do it in the shower so you can rinse the tiles off after!!

memphis83 · 11/06/2010 09:47

dh i think its the nature of the beast for monther in laws to usually be a pain in the arse try not to let it get to you, ive ordered the highchair that she said she was going to buy and my mil still hasnt given us the money and she sits in her counting house counting the £'s so she has no excuse, (only bought it 6 months b4 i neded it as she said to get it now im £80 down and ive got to find space for it!!)
realistically you can cope on a small amount of cash, babies dont NEED much in hindsight you have the main bulk bought so after bottles if your not bf, cot, and pushchair, babygrows can be bought cheaply and its milk and nappies, ive alrady had this panic a while ago and had this pointed out to me so i calmed down after that, ive been getting a pack of wipes or nappies on weekly shop each week to help out in 1st month or so to spread cost

nixster28 · 11/06/2010 09:51

Morning ladies, hope everyone good today.
Gracie you're right we'll have to meet up when you move.
lol at wwsw for she who must be placated and also 70's fanjo fro - this nearly made me do a lil wee!
mlic and wonder and of course everyone else i hope your babies all come on time for you, i'm actually hoping mine might stay in there a few days longer or definitely not come early as i'm moving 2 weeks before my due date and need to get things sorted. Should really just be grateful that me & baby girl will have somewhere to call home but obviously want it to nice for when she gets here too.
I'm off to spend the day with my sister in law and my gorgeous 2yo niece
Totally random question: is anyone drinking raspberry leaf tea and have any of you previous mums used it before?

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/06/2010 10:14

memphis yeah we've got all the essentials like a cot and pushchair etc so its not like we have to buy anything expensive now. I have also been getting nappies once a week and have alot of money off vouchers from the tesco baby club as well which really helps. Think its just one of those days! I dont think the miserable weather helps either.

Jojobil · 11/06/2010 10:35

Desperate it is natural to worry. We all do But everything will be ok! When I was pregnant with DD we were renting a one bedroom flat and had debts. But we are in a very different situation now, nearly 6 years on. You are settled, your DH has a job and you are young!
MIL wise my one never helps us in anyway and to be honest we don't get on at all. It's lucky she lives in NZ.
At the end of the day it's your MIL loss if she does not keep to her word...

Irishfairy · 11/06/2010 10:40

Hi all,

Haven't posted on here in ages but have been lurking in the shadows like others! Can't believe how close we're all getting to the big arrivals!

Has anyone been doing hypnobirthing? My friend just dropped off some cds, she had her little girl 5 weeks ago and had a really good birth experience. She stayed home until 8cm dilated and swears by the hynobirthing cds so will give it a go!

I've updated the list, really hope I did it right!

Morning all

Finally I had a good night's sleep, but have woken up with a stuffed nose and sore throat - typical!

I'm waiting for the crib to be delivered from Mothercare today, then we've got everything we need I think. Went shopping with DH last night and got nursing bras and maternity pads which were the other things left on my list.

Worrying that there's no news from anifers - hope everything is OK.

Wonderstuff · 11/06/2010 11:10

Hi all
I had a poo this morning! Feel much better - I know tmi but is highlight of my day so far

Can't believe it's 11 already! DD has a dance class at 2.30 and so need to sort out kitchen and get lunch organised so she can have a nap before we go for the bus, by the time we get back the day is almost done - haven't really got the energy today but feel bad if she misses it. She is refusing to put trousers on today

dh is down, I feel bad he has been under stress lately - nothing massive, but both parents are poorly, I'm a nightmare, work is manic - all getting to him a bit. DD is always naughty when one of us is really not feeling great - she pulled his hair this morning

Anyway - having books shoved infront of me best go.
