Wallace love your photos!
i've been in maternity clothes since 20 weeks. people keep saying my bump is so big.

bought stuff online from blooming marvellous too. now fingers crossed that it all fits.

i caved and bought my first baby outfit from BM - a cute sleepsuit that says 'i

PrivetDancer · 14/07/2010 10:02

hi wallace I saw your pic too - thought it was very nice. I have a similar one with dd but it is nowhere near as attractive to look at

vix7 have you actually received anything from blooming marv yet? I ordered on 5 July but not heard anything since. The payment is showing as pending on my credit card but not actually taken yet.

I've been in maternity stuff since about 12 weeks!!! am huge now! really should take a bump pic i suppose.

Rinnyx · 14/07/2010 10:14

Vix7 · 14/07/2010 10:38

PrivetDancer
i only placed the order yesterday so nothing from BM yet. 5th jul?? yikes!! they're taking their time with deliveries eh.

bunnygirl80 · 14/07/2010 10:42

wallace your bump is so small!

This was me last week - my tummy has definitely popped out in the last fortnight.....I think my abs have finally given up fighting to keep everything held in. On the plus side, I can now walk around in my maternity jeans without them falling down

Vix7 · 14/07/2010 11:43

finally got my bump pic up.

Me at 22/23 weeks

i feel like a whale next to all the small neat bumps!

umf · 14/07/2010 11:44

Wow, slimline ladies! I don't look that svelte when not pg! Here absolutely enormous bump, but unfortunately only hazy idea of how to work camera and certainly not able to connect it to the computer. DS caused much hilarity to friends we met in pool the other day by shouting "Look! Mummy's got a new hippo-suit so she can go swimming!".

4madboys · 14/07/2010 12:49

awww lovely bump pictures, dp took one of me the other day, i will have to try and get it loaded up but i couldnt even get my profile page or whatever you want to call it, to open earlier

CardiCorgi · 14/07/2010 12:56

Hello! Oh dear my bump is not that slim either. I think I'm going to look pretty silly by the end of this - still have a slight waist and the remains of a six-pack above a beach-ball tummy. Does anyone else still get the urge to suck in their tummy whenever they pass a mirror?

I bought a couple of baby outfits for next summer in the Boden sale - thanks Booboobedoo for making me think of that, you are a great enabler Now just trying to work out what a November newborn actually needs.

Anyone been on any hospital tours yet? Over here you get to choose your hospital so we've been to look at two of the closest already and will look at the third one tomorrow. The first visit freaked me out somewhat, I'm hoping I'll be a bit calmer by the time it comes to giving birth.

My baby still seems pretty lazy, lets hope I get a good sleeper.

harmonyb23 · 14/07/2010 14:19

Hi everyone, treated myself to some clothes today. Got a new halter-neck swimming costume as my boobs were popping out of my usual halter-neck. Got it in an E/F and there's a bit of room in the cups and belly so should see me through the rest of the PG. Also bought two skirts with stretchy waistbands and a nice top. Feeling a bit better about the clothes situation now!

Been paper mache'ing today. Am making a tank for my sons birthday party to fill with sweets and use for pass the parcel (we have pass the teddy instead and then stick your hands in the giant army tank model, lol!) I am really into arts and crafts and make all the party games each year for DS. Not sure I'll be able to do the same when there are 2 parties to create things for. I enjoy it though and it gives me something to do whilst home alone atm.

Baby seems to have decided to increase the strength of bumps it is doing today. Earlier on I saw my whole bump move (and then shudder due to layer of flab! ) it was soo cool. I don't remember that happening with DS when I was pregnant last time, but I didn't find out till 24 weeks with last pregnancy and wasn't very interested in baby kicking etc. at age of 14 1/2.

Can't wait to go on holiday now, am looking forward to getting out of the house. Just want to get out and do something other than the daily routine!

Hope everyone is well!!?? x x x

hmmSleep · 14/07/2010 15:33

24 wk bump, great to see everyone's great pics, here's my latest.

CardiCorgi, don't think I get a hospital tour until pretty much due date where I am, both my previous dcs arrived early, so never got a tour, but to be honest I really don't think I was in any state to notice or care where I was anyway .

'hippo-suit', that's hilarious umf!

bunnygirl80 your bump is so small I envy you haha
I am finding after almost getting home from the school run my walking starts to turn to waddling

Oh harmonyb23 when and were are you off to?
I'm off to Spain but thats not til end of Septmember when I am 33-34 weeks

Pidgin · 14/07/2010 17:18

Lovely bump pics everyone!

harmony I am so impressed at your industry - your son is lucky to have such nice games made for him.

Is anyone else worrying about getting everything done in time for November? I have the huge list of things to do - get rid of some furniture to make room for the baby, paint the nursery, buy new stuff for the baby, etc etc - it's starting to keep me awake at night! I know it's only July but when you look at the number of weekends left - and we have four, yes four weddings to go to plus two weeks on holiday - I feel like time is already running out!

Loooopy · 14/07/2010 17:42

vix7 your bump looks just like mine, can't believe how slim some of you are! i wasn't that slim before i got pregnant never mind at nearly 23 weeks gone!!

cardicorgi and pidgin i am with you on the "what stuff does a November baby need"

It would be great if an experienced mom could put on here a list of exactly how many things they think we need - like how many long sleeved body suits, whether we need many short sleeved body suits, etc etc...i've got a mishmash of these in various sizes, and also got some sleeveless sleeping bags, but haven't a clue what a baby should be wearing inside the sleeping bags, got some bibs, hats, socks, scratch mittens, but have no idea if i have too much or not enough of anything!! placed an online order for some more stuff from Blooming Marvellous today, but still not a clue what else i need to get.

Also, not bought any nappies yet, but want to make sure i've got plenty in by November! How many would anyone suggest we need of the new baby size before they are likely to need a bigger size? (based on an average number of ??? nappies being used per day?)

Lizzzombie · 14/07/2010 17:53

Just had second scan!
All is good...& its a girl, really excited. Sounds silly but as we already have a DS, I was just expecting another boy. So its a total surprise.

...Bring on the shopping!

hmmSleep · 14/07/2010 18:48

Congratulations on you little girl Lizzzombie!

OK, this is what I'm going to buy based on what I needed last 2 times (keep in mind I don't like constantly running out and rushing to put a wash on, so tend to buy extra);

7 long sleeved body suits, to wear on own with trousers or under cardi if cold.

14 short sleeved to wear under babygro's etc.(they constantly get poo'd and sicked on)

7 babygrows

3 pairs of comfy trousers

2 hats (you will constantly lose one)

2 cardis / jumpers (I try I find ones without hoods, hoods just look uncomfy scrumpled up behind baby)

Plenty of blankets to wrap baby up in pushchair, much easier to wrap / unwrap when going in and out of shops than layers of clothes and snowsuit type things.

snowsuit for when using baby carrier.

muslin squares (lots!)

2 grobags (for when baby is big enough)

4 bottom sheets for moses basket / cot (these will also constantly be covered in baby goo)

Cotton wool for cleaning bottoms and topping and tailing for first couple of weeks.

Topping and tailing bowl.

Breastpump, bottles, steraliser, I plan to breastfeed again but still needed these.

Breastpads, I liked the washable ones.

Maternity towels, large sanitary towels will not be enough to begin with!

Carseat

Pushchair

Babycarrier

Something to put baby down in, I'm just going to use moses basket or blanket on the floor.

Changing mat, I have one with washable towling covers as I thought the plastic was a bit cold on babies bare skin, but you could just use an old towel.

Nappies, My dcs went through about 12 nappies a day in the first few weeks, they really do poo and wee constantly! It's pretty much everytime they feed, they poo.

2 baby towels

Nappy cream

Lansinoh nipple cream

Aveeno lotion, I only ever used water to wash with, but found this to be a lovely gentle baby moisturiser.

All I can think of for now, will add more if I think of anything!

hmmSleep · 14/07/2010 18:59

This is what I plan to take to hospital -

2 babygrows
2 short sleeved bodysuits
1 cardigan
1 blanket
nappies

Old nightshirt for giving birth in
Nightclothes that enable breastfeeding
4 pair old big knickers
maternity pads
breastpads
breastfeeding bra
clothes for wearing home
hairbrush
washbag (soap, shampoo, toothbush, toothpaste, lansinoh, aveeno)
slippers
dressing gown

camera
mobile phone
magazines
snacks / drinks

Make sure carseat in car

Again, all I can think of for now!

Just a flying visit!

tiany · 14/07/2010 21:16

you experienced moms are brilliant!!! thanks so much for this list... looks like i need a little more than i thought to get started.... probably not used to factoring in 3/4 changes a day

My bumps seems to be growing by the day since last Friday!!! Have a 20wk bump photo will try post but almost need new one now (am 22wks) -- loving all the pics!!!!

shoppingstar · 14/07/2010 21:21

um, remedial question - what is the difference between a babygrow and a long sleeved body suit please? - and thanks for the list, its inspiring me to think about getting organised . . .

Fenouille · 14/07/2010 21:29

Hello everyone, sorry to have been a bit quiet recently, but following you all from afar! It's too hot to even switch on the computer here, hope the UK is not so sweaty

Lovely bump pictures and thanks to all the experienced Mums for your advice.

But I have another remedial question - what's topping and tailing?

hmmSleep · 14/07/2010 21:56

Body suits don't have legs, just poppers under the bottom, like the ones women used to wear in the eighties!

Topping and tailing is when you just wash the baby using damp cotton wool rather than giving them a bath, normally keeping them half dressed. So you'd undress the top half and clean under their arms, neck folds etc with cotton wool, (amazing how much stinky milk collects in those creases), then you redress the top half, undress the bottom half and do the same to all the nooks and crannies down there. It's much easier than giving them a full bath early on and stops them getting cold.

Tiany, it might just be that I had extra pooey, sicky babies, but it never seemed to stay in the damn nappy!
