hi, just a very quick post as my BABY wants feeding. Virginia Niamh was born 23.42h on monday 7th june 2010.she weighed 10lb. it was a pretty traumatic experience for us both but poor virginia ended up in scbu with meconium aspiration syndrome. she has been pretty poorly but we got home just half an hour ago. she is absolutely gorgeous. i will post more in the very near future, sorry i havent got time to catch up with everyones posts just now. it has been so traumatic i dont think i will ever be able to think of her birth and first 9 days without sobbing. i have lost track of the number of times the scbu nurses had to console me and the staff at the ronald mcdonald house who allowed us to live there have been amazing. will catch up properly later, much love, homebirthmummy (i will have to change my name)

I just haven't had time to catch up and reply to all the posts but have read everything.

Ande - congratulations

Homebirth - congratulations but for the stressful start you had. I totally understand after dd was in hospital for her first 6 days how stressful it is not being able to hold them or watching them with tubes in or having blood taken etc... The nurses and drs must have thought I was a fruitloop as I just burst into tears constantly and had a nasty panic attack one day, I had to get a nurse to sit with me until I could breathe normally again!!!!!! I've seen a counsellor since just to get everything off my chest, it might be something you could do to help you deal and accept what's happened.

Tomlin - for you too, again I know how awful it is to worry so much about lack of poo! DD had two of those suppositories too and an enema, its just awful. However, when she eventually had her first poo post-surgery we were so excited we videoed it . The relief once you know they are ok is immense isn't it. Glad lo is well now.

Well, Grace is now official as of Friday, can't believe we had to pay for a full birth certificate . She has also been weighed and has past her birth weight and is now 6lb 15oz. Her sleeping routine is also fairly settled, she tends to feed constantly from 6pm till 9:30pm and then goes down in her basket till 2-3am, has a feed lying down and then straight back in till 5am, then down again till 8am. Unfortunately dd1 is usually up at 6:30am!

I was also one of the victims of Asda's online voucher mistake which you may have seen on the news on Monday. Thought I had got a £75 discount but they had applied it to 4000 peoples accounts in error and they refused to deliver the shopping without me paying the full amount. Offered me a free delivery as compensation!!!!

Congratulations Homebirthmummy4 on the birth of Virginia, what a lovely name! (a traditional one in my family!) So sorry you've had such an horrific time, we've been a bit worried about you here, big hugs to you! It's wonderful that you're home now. I will update the list. Think we're ready for Postnatal thread now. I would start one, but not sure how it's meant to go as I've not done it before and don't want to breach any etiquette!
