Looking for some fellow late Januaryers to whisper about BFPs for late Jan 2011!! Just taken the test this afternoon and thrilled to be pg with #3 potentially (two DDs who are 19m and 3y). Anyone else out there?

RunningKatie · 26/08/2010 13:49

bubba I don't want to know what flavour we're having either. Can't change it now and I'd rather OH told me than anyone else.

I've just been reading a thread about embarrassing birth stories on the pregnancy forum, I had to stop because I was laughing so hard I was crying. I'm not sure that's the correct reaction. :)

BubbaAndBump · 26/08/2010 14:37

lol - it's a very healthy reaction if a little unorthodox :o I might pop over and have a looksey.

When I had my DD2 (I knew she was a boy - I'd had the same good maternal instincts about my first DD too who I felt was going to be a boy Hmm), I had to have her by CS in the end, and the surgeon obviously thought we knew what sex she was as nobody told us and we had to ask after a couple of minutes! Very bizarre :)

Welcome mumsylady and cupcakeshay

Good to hear everyone's updates. I'm sat here in smug comfort wearing my first pair of elastic maternity trousers - before i got pregnant I swore I would never be seen in such things - but oh my goodness after days of discomfort I'm in heaven!! Grin

Also got the nursery painted at the weekend (yellow as we're not finding out the flavour either) as I didn't want to do it when I was really big.

florapost and jjkm hope you feel better soon :(

CupcakesHay · 26/08/2010 17:21

I didn't want to find out flavour, but my DH was desperate to find out, and he's so so so so bad at keeping secrets, I'm not getting much choice! But actually, now I think it makes sense as i'm not living in Uk until closer to the time, and my mum lvi3es in middle of nowhere, so I'm looking forward to going on a shopping day trip before the birht and buying Blue for boy (although not really into pink?)

Although, let's hope they get it right!

Poor you too jjkm - my friend had a nightmare with her twins being sick all the time. I hope it gets a bit better soon?

bubba I craved tomato soup - and couldn't get it ANYWHERE here. I was so upset. Then we had a visitor and I asked them to bring a tin - and they forgot. I actually cried (secretly) in the bathroom!

Sippy - yellow sounds like a good plan. We're not allowed to paint, so I have a clever scrapbooking machine, so i made little ducks and bears and dogs and i'm going to blue-tack them up - like a little border really.

The one thing i'm desperate for now - is to go home and get fitted for a bra - my boobs were fine and have literally doubled over night! So i've kind of measured and ordering one to my MIL who's meeting me at airport - so i can do a dash to loos to try it on! At mo, luckily spend most of day alone, so not wearing bra! (how slobbish do i sound?)

AND that's a giant post... sorry only log on a few times a day! Blush

Sorry some of you are still feeling poorly. My cold has finally gone still absolutely exhausted though, sure it wasn't this bad last time.
We're not finding out the flavour either, didn't the first time, it's a nice surprise. Though a bit odd having to ask 'what is it?' for some reason I couldn't see when they held her up.
I'm definitely stopping at 2, I'm 35 now and not sure I could do this again. I have massive respect for those of you with more than 2 or on your 3rd pregnancy! I figure with 2 we'll still be able to man to man mark them! Always thought I'd have more but being pg this time has put me completely off the idea.
Right better go getting nagged by a 2 year old to read nursery rhymes, her current obsession x

FloraPost · 26/08/2010 19:35

We are clearing the crap out of what will be the nursery this weekend. I can't wait to get decorating although the room will probably need to be rewired and replastered first. I love these.

Fuzzywood · 26/08/2010 21:47

They're so cute. Can't decide what to do with room that will be bumpy's. Think we'll paint it yellow like DDs but with a different border, she has Winnie the Pooh. Will look into those stickers now though they look fab, thanks for the link Flora

BubbaAndBump · 26/08/2010 22:41

Very sweet!

With the nursery in our old flat I painted a massive friendly lion, giraffe, and a bird based loosely on Quentin Blake's paintings of the Roly Poly bird if anyone's familiar? I might try and put a photo on my profile for a bit so you can see - I almost cried when we moved house and I couldn't take them with us!! (Had just had DD#2 and was still hormonal - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :o)

OP posts:
BubbaAndBump · 26/08/2010 22:59

Right I think I've added them successfully - let me know if you can't see them...

OP posts:
FloraPost · 27/08/2010 01:00

Those are aces Bubba. The reason I thought of the stickers is that I have no aptitude in that direction whatsoever!

eightisseventoomany · 27/08/2010 01:04

wow, bubba...always wanted a hand painted picture on my childrens wall....never had the guts to do it,

had a look.....and they look great !!...unfortunately...makes the cot look boring Grin

these are a great idea for decorating nurserys, for anyone not knowing the sex...we went with yellows & whites & green pastels....wish Id have done what you did now !

jjkm on no: 7 !! BlushBlushBlush

I figured my area needed a few more handsome intelligent athletic men & women in time for 2020 summer olympics Grin although my girls may just be too young to compete at just 10 & 9 maybe?

BubbaAndBump · 27/08/2010 06:38

thanks, they were a labour of love and very easy really. I only wish I had the time and space to do the same again in our new house.

lol true about the cot mumsy - but to be fair that was the cot pre-mattress, toys, and all the paraphenalia. We'd just inherited it 2nd hand and painted it cream - rest of room got painted various shades of cream as the animals were quite dominant.

My sister used stickers on her nursery walls and it looks really effective. I really like the climbing rabbits Flora. And they'd provide lots of stories for babyFlora when it gets bigger too :)

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 27/08/2010 07:34

Wow - bubba they are so impressive! Can you come to syria and do my walls! ha ha

flora i like those stickers - i have bookmarked - and think i will have a nosey later.... can you use them on "bumpy" walls IYSWIM or can they only go on smooth plastered walls do you think?

Yes - sorry all - my fault on poor mumsy's missing children - i thought it was 5 and confused everyone Blush

Ok - I have to ask, after jjkm saying she was 17.5 - I can't figure it out - i go on different things online and it tells me different weeks - I'm due 31st Jan - so how many weeks am I now? According to some sites, i'm 17 - others 18? One even said 16 - which is def wrong! Confused

How are you all doing on baby names? I have about 4 picked for each - although hubby only likes 1 of each... grrr...

I think i'm far too excited about being pg. I sent my mum an email about looking through the mothercare catalogue with me when i was home and she wrote a sarcy reply saying she couldn't wait Grin. Cheeky mare!

jjkm you made me laugh about eating tomato sauce! mad!!!

Having a BBQ today (as it's our saturday over here) - invited about 4 families round - and starting to think we're mad! Should have just had a chill out weekend - as I'm shattered - slept badly and then stupid sunlight woke me up at 7am! (yes - i know... i should be practising for when the baby is here!)

eightisseventoomany · 27/08/2010 08:58

fully understandable cupcakes

come january, we'll be squeezing a baby boy & 2 baby girls into the nursery Shock....so think Ill go with the stickers on cream walls theme...
great for them all

(poor DH will despise me, I had him painting stripes all over the nursery last year, took him hours doing the masking tape alone !!)

ive always worked out my weeks/dates with babycentre.com cupcakes as it gives the three options to work it out from...although youve prob been here, Done that etc :)

am having nostalgic memories of being pg for 1st & 2nd time, and how exciting it all was..back them names were decided months before due...and everything was bought before I was even 4 months !!
such a shame that due to time, everything is now left to last minute...and baby name is usually decided 6 weeks after birth due to pressure of registering on time Blush

eightisseventoomany · 27/08/2010 09:01

forgot to ask runningkate

have you got a link to the thread of funny embarrassing birth stories...I couldnt find it, and could do with some humour reading
thanks

RunningKatie · 27/08/2010 11:47

mumsylady - hopefully this will work: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/978854-Mortifying-preganancy-stories

I sent it to my OH, who said he learnt 2 things: I need to do pelvic floor exercises, and he needs to cover the house and car with plastic sheeting! :)

Went swimming this morning before work, found I got a bit of stomach ache afterwards. Beanie's moving ok this morning so sure it's nothing to worry about but just wondering whether I need to stop doing breaststroke, as ever I've had conflicting advice. I love swimming backstroke but I do worry I'm going to plough into people Blush

I think our nursery will be yellow too, or it will be once I've cleared all my books and years of paperwork out of it.

It's sunny here, hoping it'll last into the weekend.

BubbaAndBump · 27/08/2010 16:09

That thread is bloody hilarious RunningKatie, absolutely pissing myself here laughing. Knickers still dry though. Keep doing those PF exercises :o

Thanks runningkate have favourited thread so will read later, when get chance........after midnight no doubt....!

right...have a good weekend ladies...no doubt will be too busy to chat till next week...hoping the weather improves by then Hmm
x

CupcakesHay · 28/08/2010 12:47

OOoh runningkate going to have a look at that thread in a minute. Just started doing pelvic floor exercise...

I'm shattered today. Had a bbq yesterday with 3 kids under 5 running wild in pool and decided it would be funny and splashed me every second they had :)

And i think I ate a baby's weight in potato salad Blush but it was yummy!

mumsylady - your poor DH - i think mine would go mad if i made him paint stripes. I bet it looks lovely though. Cna't you use black stickers and keep the stripes?

I'm coming back to UK a week on monday for a whole month and I cannot wait! Sooooooo excited! Even with the promise of rain! :)

Hope you all have nice weekends!

RunningKatie · 28/08/2010 19:46

Rain? We've had no rain here for a couple of hours now Grin

We've been given a load of baby things again this weekend so got to sort through tonight and give back what we don't want so they can car boot the rest.

Going for a swim again tomorrow, got a new maternity swimsuit, not sure I need it quite yet but my normal one was a bit tight on Friday.

Hope you all have a good weekend, x

BubbaAndBump · 28/08/2010 20:14

We've genuinely had a gloriously sunny day here today - first for a while though. runningkatie don't underestimate how many babygrows you'll need so if you've been handed down lots of baby things, keep as many of them as you can :)

jjkm we found that we changed our minds on names over and over throughout the pregnancy, so don't get too hung up on deciding yet (and my advice would def. be not to discuss them with too many - you'd be surprised how honest people can be about their opinions!

Right, enough of my wise, wise words Hmm. Off to watch Panorama X Factor Hmm Hmm Blush :o

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 29/08/2010 15:42

bubba wise advice about names. I spoke to my parents yesterday, and my brother and SIL were there. When I said we liked Jesse William for a boy - my dad told them all - and i could here them all groan in the background. My dad said - oooh - that's awful. And i could hear my mum say "I thought they liked Daniel"

And when I said I liked Honor but DH didn't my dad went "Thank god for chris being sensible!" - cheek!

But i put them straight and said that at this point, if we have a boy, it's 99% certain to be Jesse William - and to lump it :)

FloraPost · 29/08/2010 17:23

(odour of sick wafts onto the board) Afternoon all.

I really like Honor too, it was on my list but DP has vetoed it, as he has with all my other fantastic suggestions for girls names. Boys names seem much easier. We are not discussing names with anyone else because I'd be more likely to cause offence by immediately dismissing all kindly offered ideas. And because a couple of the front-runner names are a bit 'out there' so don't want opinions! I'm not really a jessica/olivia/emily/james/thomas/oliver kinda girl (no offence to anyone who is though Smile).
